I absolutely love that this set-up is so different from your own setups (and most of the ones I see on RUclips in general). It's simple and efficient. And it's great to see something that it focuses on Vogel rather than being aesthetic. Personally, it's also a nice reminder that simple layouts are okay, as long as they are used. The goal is usability not aesthetics after all 🌼✨
Heck yeah for journals getting used 👏 I’m very much the type who needs a bit more decoration to want to come back to my journal, but realistically Vogel doesn’t have the same needs as me. I wanted to make sure that I reminded myself of that as I went through 😝 the aim is to make something he’ll get value out of! 💪

I know a lot of new setup videos (mine included) often have a lot of different layouts, but people also commonly say that their start of journal pages go unused. Wanted to make sure the layouts Vogel has in his are just the stuff he needs, and not just set up to “pad out” a video 😝 (not to say that’s what creators are doing, but hopefully you get what I mean, haha)

Finding a new Zealander doing this is revolutionary to me because I get so frustrated with how many differences there are between our spreads and American spreads when trying to get inspiration. Great video, thank you ❤

Superb blend of minimalism and visual interest. Will you be keeping a playlist of Vogel's (sp?) minimalist set ups for the year? I would be most interested in such a playlist for months when my productivity/motivation/energy are low. I might even take this set up for January so I can focus on the rest of my set up. Thank you.

I love this setup, because it is so inclusive of what Vogel needs, is simple but extremely useful and still nicely pretty! I think my style is somewhere between your style and Vogel's style and it feels really inspiring to see both.

I have always had a pretty simple BuJo style! Some decorated trackers or collections in the beginning but everything else was always on the minimal side. For 2024, I know that I will have much more time (at least January through July) so I want to try a really decorated BUJO for the first time. I've now switched from my standard Leuchtturm to try out an A&O square format! I'm really looking forward to getting started with that journal! 😍

I have to say, I really like the simplicity of this style. It looks really fast and easy to set up which is something that appeals to me. Maybe in time when I have a little more idea of what I'm doing I can expand in the more artsy side of journaling.

I am someone who tried bujo a few years ago and totally failed at it because setting up spreads all the time got a bit much plus I can’t decorate and felt massively inadequate, so I eventually went down my own non bujo path.
However I decided to set up a reading journal for next year, know that I need to keep it simple but then was getting total fomo when I inevitably watch all the RUclips vids. I want to decorate and make it look beautiful but I’m too lazy and too rubbish at it. I picked up some colourful and some gold alphabet stickers that I think I saw in one of your vids (altho I might have been Erin) that totally match my asthetic so was feeling more hopeful, but this idea with the three coloured gradient at the top of each page is a brilliant idea.. even I can manage something simple like that and get rid of at least some of the white! Thank you thank you thank you!! You made my day! ❤
Most welcome! 💜 something I very much do for my journal setups is fluctuate between more decorative and more simple styles depending on what I have the energy for. Always good to have some simple design styles in your back pocket for the I-don’t-have-time-or-inclination-for-this months 😝💪
I've seen several 2024 setups and this is by far my favorite. It perfectly fits my aesthetic - minimal with just a bit of color and decoration. I also like the fact that it's very easily adaptable to someone who likes a bit more or less decoration. I, myself, will probably do at least one month in shades of gray. :)
I have set up bullet journals for my sister and for a friend for next year and it was actually really fun because they picked themes and layouts that I would usually not. It challeged me creatively and it is nice to do things differently for a change as I have the same setups each month :)

Absolutely love it! I'm going to try and use paper again the coming year. And I opted for just weeklies and 1 page per week. I had exactly 52 pages left in my old journal lol. 😂 I love the simplicity of this set up and I may have to consider something like this for the future.
I loved this!! Especially the year-at-a-glance layout being vertical like that!! I actually bought a "normal" diary (although still specialized to make it interesting) for 2024 that I'm hoping will help me save some time in setting up spreads myself each month since next year is going to be super busy! BUT I still bought a regular bullet journal too that I'm hoping to find time to put some more "long term" collection things & stuff in that my "pre-printed" one doesn't leave space for!

I love this so much! ppl should do more simple layouts, or at least try them out if the aesthetic side is preventing them from starting bullet journal. at least this was my case. i love how simple yet beautiful this layout is. i hope to see more of it!!❤
I already did the setup for the new year, but i do really like the yearly overview and especially the space for remembering what happened during certain months. I will definitely steal it for next year's setup :p

Most 'minimalist' set ups or inspo I've seen is always in full on black. Though very pleasing to the eye and pretty to look at, I heavily rely on color to sepperate boxes and have things not blend in. So seeing this simple set-up done in color pleases me, that's how I do my set-ups uwu

This is so me I never used bullet journal because it been to much for me but this design is amazing and I am so going to use it thanks for sharing
I'm Canadian, so to me January is such a cold and frigid month that I would never associate it with the colour orange. It is always dark blues and grays for me. It is fun to learn that other people associate different colours with different months because of where they are born. Living in one place for your entire life makes you (sort of) forget that things that you feel are set in stone aren't the same for most other people on the planet.
I love that cover design so muuucchhh 😩 (Btw I made my first A&O order this past Friday and I got the Spellbound notebook using your code 🤗) My bullet journal is pretty simple and strictly functional too so it’s pretty neat to see this style in addition to the more detailed and artistic ones you do for yourself. 💜 I had been waffling on if I should keep my calendar pages because I don’t write a lot on them and I think I might switch to the future log style you used here.
I really like the setup. It's not overwhelming and more clean. For me as a beginner good to see.
I really like the very Light colours that you use and already bought one tombow you used and put the blue one on my list.
I would Love a video with your favourite pale colours. Esp for making those lines in journals
I think eventually I would like to have one from every colour family. But for now it's just a warm Grey and Light sand as neutrals to start with.

To be able to be more consistent with mine this year i scaled it down to absolute basics, then afyer six months of that added a bit more in then for the new year ive onve again added some more stuff in
I keep a note or reflection at emd of each month what features i used and what featores I didnt use to focus moving forwards

I like to do a similar thing with my monthly reflections. I keep a space to talk about what did or didn’t work, or I did or didn’t like in my journal system 💪
What a nice simple style with still some personality. Im still excited to see how your new setup will be with the quarterly and fortnight layouts. I sorta get the explanation but im much more of a visual person

Jess, I saw one RUclipsr turn that awkward front page into a pocket for the journal. Such a great idea instead of sticking it together because then you have a space for receipts etc
I did that in my journal for Sep-Dec this year, yeah 😊💜 Vogel just didn’t want the page this year, haha

The Minamalist layouts are the best....I love the light tombow highlighter lines in the layouts...
So what is he gonna do with all the free space in the book ?? Journal writing ? common place notebook section ? Personal dictionary section ? I am curious
I do a setup for him or each month, but there will still be a bit of spare space at the back of the journal 🤔 not too sure what he’ll use that for 😊

I have embraced the minimal bujo. A pen and a highlighter have been my only supplies for the last few months, though I have added some icon stickers here and there to make my having purchased them worth it, lol. To much deco and I get overwhelmed by the clutter on the page and I just won't use it.

i just realized making a bullet journal for someone is basically the adult version of a wreck-this-journal

I have been doing bullet journaling for less than a year now and very soon like after one month of journaling, I realized that monthly spread is not for me. I hate duplicated items. I hate to repeat them and I usually don’t go back to them much, so I scrapped them from the second month of using my bullet journal, and instead opted for a weekly spread of eight different parts, which I even use as daily spread, because I do not like to write so much when it comes to things that I do and tasks that I have, instead I use a very simple layout of habits and routines that I do weekly or daily next to it so that it will be more useful and I will be going back to them as much as possible
Heck yeah for finding what works for you 💪 I’m pleased with the changes we made to Vogels journal this year, and hopefully he finds they help with his journal upkeep 🤞

Does Vogel then do a daily log too?
Outside of that 8-box weekly layout, not really 😊 you can kind of think about his “weekly spread” because a group of daily logs though; he keeps daily log type entries on there
I wonder if he will also add daily pages?
He typically only uses the weekly layout to hold all his events and tasks 😊 it gets limited to the things outside of work; he keeps work tasks digitally

Why didn’t you just do the future log on the previous page?
Because it takes up two dot-grid pages, and page before only had one 😊 Much easier to set up the future log (and then use it) with the guides of the dot grid 👌
Absolutely loved it, but it's just one more of those "super simple" that are FAR from being simple
