    I started my first bujo just like this at the end of october 2021. Index, future log, monthly log and then straight into the daily logs (I didn't know about the weekly logs then). I love that with this system there is no need to wait, just jump in whenever you feel like it and it will evolve to fit to your life if you stick to it and reflect on your journaling practice. Also, I am a wizard 💫

    I like the simplicity of this. I enjoy making the pages very fancy, but I just don't use my journal if I feel like it needs to be pretty. Going to try this!

      Hope it works better for you! I think I'm ~slowly~ tending towards the "let's make it more simple" direction 🤔 but I also have a tendency to change my mind 😂

    I once watched a video on someone trying the method for the first time as an experiment while he was happy with his current task and event management system. The core did not work for him, since he disregarded his own needs. So to a beginner I would ask questions like.. Do you have a current system? What is working with that and what isn't? Why would you like to start, what are your goals with it? I myself started with a colouring planner and found that I cannot add stuff like schedules for trips, shopping lists, lists for what I need to bring on trips, and space to write down all the tasks cluttering my mind that don't have a deadline. So I started my own. I started with a lot of spreads that I didn't end up using because I just put them down for the method or because I found them pretty in other people's bujos. So my point is, do not get discouraged, if the first setup is not working for you. You can change anything in your journal right in the middle of it, no need to wait until the next journal or next month. Maybe this could be a video as well, how to change from different systems to a bujo. Like from an online calendar, a traditional journal or just a bunch of post it notes, etc.

    I think because I keep most of my collections in a yearly journal I don't use an index. I label my spine with what months are contained in the journal and I pretty much use the same layouts each month.

    I know it's not OG bujo but i love the Alastair method for future logging because it's even faster than setting up a full future log, and takes up less space. I've used a single page for mine but i know i can just add a new one if i run out of space

    I want to start doing bullet Journaling, I was told it can help me a lot with my ADHD and short-term memory loss. But I am overwhelmed and trying to figure out how to set this up to function for me. I have seen ideas on how to creat pages but the whole layout is what is confusing to me.

    • @JashiiCorrin
      @JashiiCorrin  Год назад +2

      I like to take a problem-solving approach to setting up my journals, so figuring out what I want my journal to help me do/accomplish, and then finding pages that would help with that. E.g. I want to get better at my "take care of yourself" habits, so I have a monthly habit tracker which helps me track actually doing (or not doing) those. Once you know the pages you want, then you can search for inspiration for how to lay them out specifically 💜 We have a separate video on how to plan a journal that works for you though which might be helpful, but it can be very much an iterative process
      (that video is ruclips.net/video/_5rSyfUvqcA/видео.html )

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't monthly/weekly/daily logs redundant? Why write the same tasks, appointments, etc three times on three different logs? Is it not simpler and less time consuming to have a monthly log with all upcoming events? I could see having a daily log to jot down daily tasks, but the weekly log seems kind of pointless to me. Am I missing something here?

    • @JashiiCorrin
      @JashiiCorrin  Месяц назад +1

      Good question! While the monthly log and daily log can kind of be thought of as "task holders" (amongst other things, but we're simplifying here) the role of the weekly log is more of a reflection point. A weekly log as per the original method does have a task list portion for tasks specifically designated to that week, but the other larger part of it is for reflecting on the week that was. Goes along with the whole idea of bullet journaling being a mindfulness practice disguised as a productivity system 😝
      As for the three together though, there can totally end up being some double ups or redundancy with tasks in multiple places, but we can also think of the separate parts for narrowing focus. The monthly log holds the tasks we want to do in the month, but not necessarily on a specific day. When we get to the day we are actually planning on doing it, we then move that into the daily log. You also wouldn't typically add a task to all three places at once i.e. if you add a task to your daily log for that day, and plan on doing it that day, you normally wouldn't also go back and add that to the monthly and weekly logs as they don't really need to be there. You might add it to those logs come the end of the day if the task was left unfinished though 😊
      A long comment, but hope that helps! 💜

    • @JashiiCorrin
      @JashiiCorrin  Год назад +2

      Literally just a bulleted list underneath that header. No special structure. Like:
      . Task 1
      . Task 2
      . Task 3
      Just the same way you’d do a regular task list.
