Fire engulfs Copenhagen's Old Stock Exchange in 'Notre Dame moment'

- A fire hit Copenhagen's Old Stock Exchange on Tuesday, one of the Danish capital's best-known buildings, engulfing its spire which collapsed onto the roof in a scene reminiscent of the 2019 blaze at Paris' Notre-Dame cathedral.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, police said.
Video from the scene showed people carrying large paintings away from the building to save the historic artefacts from the flames.
"Horrible pictures from the Bourse. So sad. An iconic building that means a lot to all of us ... Our own Notre-Dame moment," Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen wrote on X.
The historic building, whose spire was shaped as the tails of four dragons intertwined, had been under renovation when the fire broke out.

The Old Stock Exchange “Børsen” was a historic and very beautiful building in Copenhagen - 400 years old 🏰 💔
I used to manage these kinds of sites in the UK. All works on these jobs can only proceed after a permit to work has been issued. One type of permit covers 'hot works' ie welding, grinding etc - processes that can cause fires. A condition of any permit is a period of 'fire watch' usually 1 hour after the works cease to detect smouldering hidden fires. We never had a fire under this system but it's easy to see how one could start.
Is there any chance that the building can be restored? What could cause the fire?

@@MsMissX Tragic, old art can not be brought back if severely damaged. I love art, and felt the same when Paris had big fire of the cathedral.😢
@@maryf.1956 No but hopefully those parts who was saved out can be restorated. People went straight at work to try and save as much as possible. Ordinary people who was just passing by jumped into help. But not everything made it out.

The Notre Dame Fire happened during Restoration work, i seem to recall. This is so sad and a day after the anniversary of the Fire at Notre Dame.

It’s not been reported what started the fire. Restoration could require welding and flammable substances, I’m pretty sure no one would be allowed to smoke near there.

Every single thing that happens have to be connected to some kind of conspiracy. It makes them feel "unique" and "special" for knowing the "truth", because they're most likely nobody losers IRL.

Seems unlikely. The building hasn't been home to the stock exchange since the 1970s.

The stock exchange was built from 1619 and originally housed a central hall and two rows of twenty stalls each, which could be rented out. The king took an active part in the construction, and his desire for a distinctive architecture led to the setting up of the famous spire with the twisted dragon tails.
After all, we know that dragons are known to guard gold. As guardians above the Danish trading centre, the dragons were therefore an appropriate symbol of Denmark's wealth and importance.

This is just not funny, our beautiful børsen in Copenhagen is burning a day after the 5 year anniversary of this horrific event that happened in France with Notre dame.
