@@galaxray8700 No he wasn't . His only purpose to ally with the Hitler was to overthrow British imperialism in India due to Nazis being rivals to the British in the Allied forces. But when he realized that *Hitler completely supported imperialism of "Scandinavian Whites" over "Brown people" (South Asians)* - Netaji had it and understood he came to the wrong party. By the way , Germany and the Nazis did *nothing* to free India, they didn't even participate in it. Only thing they did was to quell the British forces and every other with the help of Axis powers : Imperial Japanese Army, Italian army and Nazis. The Imperial Japanese army had landed sizeable blows on the British in South East Asia and that together with the INA (Indian National Army) fighting against the empire, weakened the economy of the British. Gandhi is more like an icon of pacification. He never rallied for complete independence. He wanted dominion status for India. If he were successful, we would have been second class citizens in our own nation. Gandhi actively collaborated with the British crown and convinced people to join the British in the world wars. It was the naval mutiny and the revolting battle hardened soldiers from British Indian army and the Indian National Army that secured us independence. The British were in no position to fight post WW2.
I think we should not talk about anyone who struggled for our freedom we don't know what were circumstances that Time and Gandhi ji was one one of the driving factors along with others for our freedom
@@priteshdixit5778 I don't intend to change anyone's opinion about Gandhi. But please don't hail him as a Saint. He was too much in awe of the British crown at that time. The woman carrying the baby was Queen Laxmibai Tambe (pronounced as Taambey) (Raani (queen) of Jhansi was her title). She was carrying her adopted son on her back into battle against the British. This queen did not have a biological heir so she adopted this boy. The British had just passed a law called the Doctrine of Annexation which said that a king or queen having no direct biological heirs will have their kingdom annexed to the British empire. This is why she fought the British to the death.
This is only 60-70% of our freedom struggle and many of it is not shown obviously due to time contrain and the fact that this is the version we are taught in textbooks, but crucial events like naval mutiny were skipped, but the end scene was just amazing, couldnot hold myself from saluting
This is the story of story of the 80 year old warrior babu Kunwar singh - He was a local ruler of princley state of jagdishpur in India.. The british tried to capture him as he was revolting against their rule... It was during such gureilla warfare one of his men betrayed him by telling his location to the british.. They ambushed him while he was crossing a river during which he was short in the arm which the local doctor said he had to remove to prevent poison spreading so he cut off his arm as an offering to the river goddess asking for strength to drive out the british from his territory which he succeded in the following day when he attacked them but later died due exhausation and fatal injuries
And finally to answer your question- in the elementary and secondary school we learn quite a lot the same way as it is displayed in this video. Although, I having a major in history in my college and I can say much of it was quite true except for the fact that real reason which is not covered in our history books is the fact that Netaji Bose and his ARMY was the real reason British left in fear since Bose and his army rose a national feeling in the Indian army camps who were working under British control and fighting for Brits. It was for this reason which is why British left despite winning the World war 2. They left in a hurry or else they would've been brutally killed by the Army in 1946 just like they were shocked to death in 1857. Basically, their whole rule was based on the British Indian Army's strength and trust which was shaken by Netaji Bose and his Azad Hind Fauj(Indian National Army). All respect to Gandhi and his principles of non violence and passive resistance which unified indians to fight for the same cause together because before him there was no real centralised movement or a strong central leader. but in this day and age these ideals don't really work on such large scale. For example- there is no country which won its independence non violently. It is just not possible practically. Forget a war! if you rent your house to a tenant and he/she doesn't leave it once u ask him or her and he/she tells you do what the heck u want to do I'm not leaving this house and it's mine now. And imagine then the owner in this agitation sits outside and protests and follows passive resistance..would the tenant ever leave? NEVER! Isn't it? And if I'm wrong then why don't india still follow Gandhian model and follow passive resistance in Kashmir? Why we have to use force and violence? The bottom line is: practically, ideologically and even for that matter religiously speaking there can be no peace in warlike situations or fighting for dharma or freedom or Swaraj without limited use of violence. And there has been violence all through our freedom struggle as this video shows. But to all importantly and decisively put the credit in Gandhi's name that india won independence because of his non violent principles is absolutely rubbish. And unfortunately so this rubbish is put in the text books in tainted ways just to build the Gandhi brand and to give a notion that Britishers got a honorary and respectful exit from india. And why is it so? Because the ones who got the transfer of power in 1947 from the Brits were all Gandhi's men and devotees and the narrative still remains oficially.

4:55, The Revolt of 1857 lasted for about one to one and a half years and according to British field records, was completely stopped by the year 1859. This "revolt" is viewed respectfully as the First War Of Independence of India. (Edit) 8:25, The term "Swaraj" is a Mararathi term (Marathi language) and it means Independence/Freedom. (Edit) 11:37, Non-cooperation movement is a type of non-voilent "struggle" idea of "Gandhi", the direct meaning of which would be to not cooperate with the British government. (Edit) 22:06, The Azad Hind Fauj/ Indian National Army was formed by Netaji S.C.Bose and the German and the Japanese Governments helped him to form this great army with only one motive, The freedom of Mother India Although Netaji Bose didn't liked the fact about working with th working with the Nazi govt., but as the famous saying goes "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". Swadeshi=Made in India/Indigenous, Satyagraha= Truth, Tolerance, Non-violence, Peaceful Protests. Non Coop Movement - Basically the people surrendered everything British from titles to goods to clothes to honours to services, posts even taxes etc. The Bose you meant in the video is actually Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Hi, how I wish you could visit Delhi, Meerut, Lucknow, Agra and Jhansi -- the nerve centres of the first war of our independence in 1857 (colonial British called it a mutiny). In Delhi, nor far from my home, is Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar (originally the Kingsway Camp). The place has a huge monument of British King George, it is a protected monument. Dozens of Indian soldiers were hanged for the revolt near the monument). About a km away is the dilapidated structure of British Army Press, the property is in dispute for decades). Another 3-4 km away is the Interstate Bus Terminus, and around that place are dozens of monuments of the colonial British/Mughal era. There is a very quiet church, well-maintained and still functional. The church and the burial ground within its compund was built by the British. About 75km from Delhi towards its east is the historic city of Meerut (Uttar Pradesh province), where Mangal Pandey had first revolted against the British. Kanpur state capital Lucknow are heavily covered in history. Jhansi is further east in a region called Bundelkhand, the land of the Bundel Rajput warrior clans. The fort in Jhansi is the place associated with Queen Laxmi Bai who fought with the British army astride her horse, which had to jump from the fort as it was under siege for days and months. Laxmi Bai tied her infant son behind jumped with her armour and sword. The place where the horse jumped off the fort wall is demarcated. The Queen fought ferociously and felled by the British troops who surrounded her. There is a famous poem by Subhadra Kumari Chauhan 'khoob Ladi mardani vo to Jhansi wali Rani thi, Bundele harbolo ke mukh ham suni kahani thi' (the legend of the Queen we all know thru stories handed down to us by the brave Bundela warriors, that was the Queen, the Queen of Jhansi). Rani Laxmibai did not jump from the fort in Jhansi. It was the Gwalior Fort from where instead of being captured by the Brits she chose to jump along with her horse. A statue of her on her horse is there to mark the place and commemorate her act.

The 1857 revolt hardly lasted two years. By 1859 most leaders were either killed or hanged (except Nana Saheb Peshwa who disappeared and was never heard of again). Thousands of lives were claimed. There's no clear figure because after the revolt was suppressed by the Company, the Brits, whatever city they recaptured they executed thousands and thousands of local population by hanging them without any trials. Two travellers from Western India (where there was no activity) have written in their travelogue that trees were full of hanging corpses. British had grown so paranoid of the locals that they started killing the natives at the slightest suspicion. They remained vindictive for quite a few years after the suppression of the revolt. Jawaharlal Nehru mentions in his autobiography that sometime in the early 1860s his granduncle was stopped by the British on his way when he was taking his niece (Nehru's aunt) somewhere mistaking her for an English girl because she was so white skinned and they thought that she had been abducted. Had the misunderstanding not been cleared, Nehru writes that the granduncle would have been hanged then and there.
When at Chauri Chaura the non cooperation movement became violent . Gandhi ji took it back.Different schools of thoughts have different take on it.But there is a way to reconcile the differing schools of thought, for all three things can be right at the same time: Chauri Chaura violence had roots in local discontent; the violence was wrong; and Gandhi displayed tremendous moral conviction in pulling back.

You will surprise that we also study Pakistan history especially ancient, because in past that belongs to India till 75 year ago but Pakistan don't teach to their students. 😂 Pakistan they have no basis to maintain and claim, that lands belongs to Pakistan in past. While Hindu word came from those who live in sindh (now a state of Pakistan) before 10,000 year ago. A mountain in afganistan name is Hindu-kush. Well this video is great introduction to general public and kids, but as someone who has studied the Indian independence struggle in some depth, there are many many nuances missed. I would just say that. But the masses can never relate to something they can't experience themselves in some way, so it's good for them, the intellectual directions are for only those who wants to dive deeper. And lastly, I can't just help but comment on this, they call Gandhi an old fakir(an ascetic), really!!!! That's cute of them, lol.
@@justanotherarmyvet2.0 Madam, these Video is totally Leftist History (Praising Indian National COngress and Gandhi Especially). I would say it is not actually an Indic History. also it didnot showed that Quit India Movement was a Useless and Dumb Move by Gandhi. and the Actual Effective and smart Movement was INDIAN NAVY (BRITISH INDIAN NAVY AT THAT TIME) AND AIR FORCE REVOLT. for last 100 years, the Revolt was limited upto the common Citizens and a Rebel Organization but When the Revolt comes to ARMED FORCES working under British, this really Panicked the Crown.. Because Madam you know that if ARMED FORCES STARTED REVOLTING THEN EVEN A PRESIDENT OF A COUNTRY HAVE TO LISTEN IT.. right.
Bhagat Singh was 23 when he was hanged and people even today question Gandhi's decision to not save Bhagat Singh when the British gave him a choice. Even after independence, Sardar Vallabh Bhai was elected as Prime Minister but Gandhi made Nehru his disciple the Prime Minister. We have unfair borders with countries just because of a weak leader like Nehru. Subhas Chandra Bose went to Germany to Russia and Japan made an alliance with them and INA Indian National Army was formed on foreign land. When a reporter asks The British viceroy of India Lord Mountbatten after independence why they left India? He replied 3 words: Indian National Army. Gandhi's every revolution was a failure on the ground. Subhas Chandra Bose was the actual leader behind the final blow to destroy the British in India.
@@justanotherarmyvet2.0 Gandhi wasn't given a choice. It is a myth However, he did in fact state that revolutionaries such as Bhagat Singh or Udham Singh were "misguided". He criticised them, and told people not to treat them like role models 🙄 Gandhi was a lawyer as well as a very popular leader. He could have indeed stopped their execution if he tried.

*100% true* 🙏 To add to the list of her activities : *She used to convert and sell children...* Bengalis hate her. I just came to know in my Undergrad. at my alma mater (University) , there were too many Bengalis coming from different backgrounds not only from Kolkata - Once I just brought about Mother Teresa and smiled thinking that even foreign born came to Bharat for Freedom Fight......... There were around 20 odd among them (from all religions/faiths) and their faces turned grim. They called me and set up a sort of team meeting 😂 probably the first one I every had in my Second Year at University. They got more Bengalis and then there were at least 25 - 30 of them (literally crowding around a table or rocks we were all sitting on in the Forest area (made up for the University premises - we called Woodstocks). *All of them together one by one explained the true history of Bengal and how they hated Mother Teresa and Raja Ram Mohan Roy etc. ....* I was literally shell shocked to hear something I never even had thought of or known till that point. It is also when I came to know how nationalistic Bengalis were. They literally used the name *Bharat* and always mentioned *all national languages* and explained how Raja Ram Mohan Roy made national languages less important compared to European languages and Arabic (since he literally spoke and wrote in all those languages being a scholar). Later from watching a video by Shri Sandeep Balakrishna (an engineer and historian) , came to know that Shri Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a victim of the long enduring slavery we had faced from the Mughals and that his family were ones troubled from Mughal atrocities. They considered British and the rest of colonials from European nations as forward, brave, eloquent, well mannered etc. compared to the barbaric nature of the Mughals - *to either convert or die and to spit in mouths of Hindus (yes Mughal infantry men considered Hindus and other faiths below their own and used to either tax (jizya) the populace till death or did such despicable acts against them.* Hence he adopted western customs and was I guess converted to Christianity ? He worked for the British East India company.

There is another connection between India and the US. General Cornwallis who lost at Yorktown was made the governor General of india. He learned the lessons from the defeat well. The British made sure through their policies the locals and the princely states don't have weapons or a standing army (read second amendment). But when he realized that *Hitler completely supported imperialism of "Scandinavian Whites" over "Brown people" (South Asians)* - Netaji had it and understood he came to the wrong party. By the way , Germany and the Nazis did *nothing* to free India, they didn't even participate in it.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and insight. Thank you . And you bring up some excellent points!! 👍🙂

Imagine if US had not nuked japan , india could have defeated the british and we would have had independent and sovereign india today , pakistan , bangladesh, nepal , bhutan, sri lanka all would have been a part of india if INA would have succeeded. Even today india and indians are very much colonised by language , rules and traditions. He would have ensured that india creates its own new identity. 🥺
History would definitely would have changed if the Allie’s had lost…
Swaraj is an Hindi word, which is an amalgamation of two words swa and raj.

@Just Another Army Vet 2.0 @8:21 you've asked about Swarajya (it pronounced and spells Swa+Ra+Jya) it means "My (sovereign) Nation" or "My (sovereign) Home/Birth Land", it can also translate as Self-Rule.
Swa (Mean My or Self) + Rajya (means Sovereign Land or Rule) as according to the particular context in which the word said.
(Note:- I'm from Maharashtra, India & I'm a Marathi Speaking person, it's my mother/regional/birth tongue, but I can able to speak English and Hindi as well)
The whole phrase was like this: "Swarajya Ha Maza Janma siddha Adhikar Ahe Aani To Mi Milavinarach".

I remember studying American war of independence against British rule in school in History subject I forgot in which class Indian war of independence against British rule was taught in class X.
We started History subject from class V. I totally forgot what was there, as I skipped that class and directly got admission in VI.
Later we learned all about the intruders like Mughals, Portugals and French and war against them. Later we learned about Martin Luther King, Madame Marie Curie's invention, Boston Tea party, Battle of Lexington and many more from classes VII to IX.
Apart from war of independence in the subject History we had to learn about most common religions in India like Hindu, Christianity, Islam, Budhism and Jainism that's where I learned about Martin Luther King I forgot about other Protestants. We had to attempt 10 to 12 marks questions on these topics.

Hey Kylie, I'm late this time around, but yeah to answer some of your questions,
Azadi= Independence, Swaraj=Self-rule,
Yes He cut off his hand, Yes that was a child on her back. (She was protesting against the annexation of kingdoms where there were no male heirs to rule the kingdom),Sepoy= Soldier.(Actually it's the Westernised version of 'Sipahi' which means the same) The mutiny went on for around 1.5 yrs. with people all over the places joining the cause.
Swadeshi=Made in India/Indigenous, Satyagraha= Truth, Tolerance, Non-violence, Peaceful Protests.
Non Coop Movement - Basically the people surrendered everything British from titles to goods to clothes to honours to services, posts even taxes etc.
The Bose you meant in the video is actually Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Azadi means - for normal less aware person(who understand) Indipendence...For knowledgeable person- It was started being used by Indian Maulanas(Islamic Priest) when Britain Captured Turkey (Caliph of Islam) in Khilafat movement (movement in India against British to restore Caliph and leave turkey) , THEY said - Kufr Se Azadi , Kufr means Kafir or Non believer of Allah... In the end, Prithviraj died defending his capital. Ghori was quick to betray Jaichandra also, and killed him too. It was the first time North India came under Islamic rule

Yes, Veer Kunwar singh, 80 died 23apr 1858 near Jagdishpur. He chopped his hand off. And also from the other took the union jack off of the fort and escaped the British soldiers but died due to blood loss.
Incredible story

The British made sure through their policies the locals and the princely states don't have weapons or a standing army (read second amendment). The bristish were the only ones running around india with arms. These policies majorly culminates into the revolt of 1857 or the first war of Indian independence. After this the control is passed directly to the British crown.
Oh wow. That is a very interesting connection!
I was crying..😢😢
