In this NFL week 16 recap, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens exposed Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers on Christmas day behind a punishing defense. At the same time, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts continue to struggle mightily, making a Super Bowl rematch more and more unlikely. Then Joe Flacco and Amari Cooper took over and propelled the Cleveland Browns into looking like one of the most dangerous teams in the AFC next to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. So, let's get right into this review to see as many week 16 highlights as we can to try and figure out what is even remotely going on in the NFL, and how all logic has gone completely out the window. I mean, I've always *liked* watching football but I was never *into* it so I had a pretty casual understanding until pretty recently. If we win the super bowl that i don’t care much about the regular season
Kyle Shanahan: now 0-38 when down by at least 8 points in the 4th. That team is great if they get ahead early, but if you can withstand their initial attempts at pummeling you, you have a great chance.
I do not expect them to make it to the superbowl because Shanahan is somehow cursed.
This is their best chance since Kyle got the job. They better not screw up (they will)

We're cursed because we sold our soul to have joe Montana and Steve Young back to back. We will go to the playoffs and serve our purpose of knocking off the cowboys and then lose in the championship.
Can we bring back chip Kelly so I don't have any expectations?

Im disappointed the way defenses can no longer play defense. They pretty much have to ask permission to hit an offensive player. Romo being "surprised" a defensive player PUSHING Mahomes out of bounds wasn't a penalty! What are they supposed to do?

I don’t feel Trevor Lawrence digressed as much as his o-line did. The Jags played musical chairs with o-line players even in the middle of the season which clearly made continuity difficult. They better fix this in the draft or I fear another excellent QB is going to be broken a piece at a time…ankle…concussion…shoulder…next body part, and TubFrog will be making another RGIII-type video-excellent video btw if you haven’t seen it.

It seems like every team this year is just mid, with three really good teams ( 49ers, Lions, and Ravens ) and three really crappy teams ( Panthers, Cardinals and Chargers ). Even Eagles, Chiefs, and Bills look... meh, and I absolutely don't trust Dallas or Miami to do anything but FAIL!
Addendum: I'm hoping for a Bills vs. Lions SB, but we all know it's going to be 49rs vs. Ravens.

I understand why the discord voted the 9ers Ravens game as the best game. Aside from it being the primetime game, there was a non-zero chance at a Sam Darnold comeback. Dude came in and almost marched down the field for two consecutive touchdown drives with enough time on the clock and timeouts available for a 3rd one. If he didn't throw that INT, there'd be quite a bit of discussion surrounding the SF QB situation. Especially since Purdy got hurt again.

I don't get the hate on Sam Howell. He has gotten eaten alive by great defenses the past 2 weeks, but overall showed a lot of promise this year. I would at least like to see him without Ron Rivera at HC.
But now Jacoby is playing lights out and probably put howell away for the season
As far as Bryce Young I think he at least proved he has an arm and mobility serviceable for the NFL. All year I've been legit questioning that because he's had no time for plays to develop.

You need to rethink you’re reviews tubfrog. Every time a team wins, it’s because the opponent sucks, or they got an “ugly win”. The only time you admit a team won due to talent and playmaking is when it’s the raiders. For example, the ravens 49ers game. Yeah purdy played an bad game, but that doesn’t take away from the ravens dominance in that game. You don’t give any credit to the winning team though. Saying they have “lost their talent due to injury”. Please, this team has more talent than your raiders have had in either our lifetimes. Give credit where credit is due, and do better.
