Phonte really does not get the flowers he deserves bro. Seriously one of my favorite rappers since a child. Charity starts at home is still something I listen to daily. God bless 🙏🏾
“Can’t stop, won’t stop, bringing these F’s home on your report card!”. 😂😂😂 I love these dudes. Hip Hop personified, and some of the funniest skits I’ve ever listened to.
Big fan of Little Brother, their first two albums got ya boy thru college. I would play their albums and knock out a few writing assignments! Also that song Black Magic is a CLASSIC track they’ve made without 9th Wonder.
I'll never forget finding them on myspace in 05 and falling in luv with their "the minstrel show" album so amazing! I was so happy to see them at the roots picnic last yr 🙌🏼🖤
“Atari” is still one of the greatest skits on a project ever lol. The RZA voice 😂 Phonte was a larger than life personality, man. One of Drake’s biggest influences, as well.. along with the Clipse. Phonte can really sing, the Foreign Exchange projects were fire too along with Little Brother
“At 5th & Fashion/betta call yo n*ggas!!” 😂😂😂 Great documentary! Salute to them! “Step My Game Up” is still one of favorite tracks! Great to see them on TBC! S/N: Phonte was an influence in the beginning of Drake’s career. Listen to “Think Good Thoughts”
Charla: Will we ever get a Phonte, Pooh & 9th Wonder reunion? Them: Nah 😭😭 The way I died laughing. Dang! Not even trying to get our hopes up.🤣🤣 I deeply admire Little Brother and have enjoyed witnessing their evolution, both as individuals and as a collective.
Lol. I did a rewind to that part about 10 times and knew how much they meant that. I'm a big fan of both LB and 9th. At first (as a fan), I wondered how production would be less 9th with LB. My gawd, how they KILLED IT since. LB is just an amazing group.
Top 3 rap duos of all time...big big big big fan of little brother. It was 2004 , i was living in san diego and going to mesa community College and this beautiful female in my nutrition class put me on to little brother. Been listening to them ever since. So underrated.
Little Brother been out for 20 plus years and still no one really knows about this Amazing, True to Life Hip -Hop Group..2 of the best to ever do it…And Let’s not even get on Phonte…Charity Starts At Home…All Classics…Best Rap Duo next to OutKast…💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
This is fucking crazy! I was literally listening to Chittlin Circuit this morning and I go on RUclips and see this?! LB is top 5 hip hop groups of all time. Real true hip hop. So glad y’all reunited to bring us that heat back!!
This dropping on my birthday is the best present I could've asked for! I love these brothers, man. All their music is timeless and stays in daily rotation. The Listening, The Chitlin Circuit, The Minstrel Show and May the Lord Watch are all classics in my opinion. With their recent appearances on MEO and TBC, the 2 singles they released late last year and the new one that just dropped with Focus... I really hope this means a new album is on the way but either way, Little Brother remains one of my favourite Hip Hop groups/duos and easily the best of their generation. Much love and respect.
one of my FAVORITE hip hop groups of all time! I remember finding out about Little Brother in 2008 when I was going to school at Mesa Community College. Truly felt this music was for me and still feel that way when I listen to them. Can't wait for the next album. 9th is still my favorite DJ/ producer
Little Brother got joints, it was a blessing getting to know them and working with them in The studio ! Can’t wait to see the Doc & looking forward to the new music ! Day1 Fan Mr Coley #BullCity #NCCUcampus #NCstateParties 🔥💙💙💙💙
You can tell Jess don’t know NOTHING about Little Brother 🙄🤦🏽♀️. Anyways, great interview from my favorite rappers! I’m ready for that new album! Still bumping “May The Lord Watch”, “The Listening”, and “The Minstrel Show”🔥🔥🔥
I discovered little brother back in 2015 on the pandora app and I’ve been a fan since then , I listen to their songs almost everyday . Watch me , the way you do it , I see now , hiding place , speed racing , welcome to durham , just to name a few .
I appreciate that Char and Envy either did their homework on LB or their production assistants did. I’ve seen them show up at too many interviews where it was clear the folks didn’t know them and asked stupid questions. They’ve earned this respect.
@34:00 This is especially true of the entertainment industry. When I got out of film school and was interviewing with production companies one of the companies had me do an interview with 3 women producers and they asked me "Would you do anything for us?" I said, "No", immediately. They were in dead shock, especially 2 of them, and they told me I was the ONLY candidate who had said no out of hundreds. One of them said, "Why do you say you wouldn't do anything for us?" And I told them straight out that "anything" means "anything". I will not prostitute, buy drugs, etc. When you say "anything" it is literal. And when I went to film school I heard a few stories from fellow students who interned and worked with famous people and companies and they would be asked to buy drugs (one friend said this of Miramax) or procure or personally provide sexual services (heard this about a famous director who still hasn't been outed by Me Too movement). When the dude on that doc about the FYRE FESTIVAL says he would have offered fell@cio -- he wasn't playing! That's how these industries can be. It's very scary. Also, this is why Me Too was a movement that rocked the entertainment industry.
Always impressed by how intelligent these two speak in interviews! Rappers with dope verses are *not* dummies!! Glad they got the chance to tell their story on such a widely-viewed platform, but I'd love to see them get asked *better* questions 🤷🏾♂
I went to an LB concert last March in Brooklyn and my ass got emotional seeing these two together again and reminiscing about how I first heard them in school. The old songs still hit, the new songs hit too!
little brothers lack of popularity was really a branding issue. I never knew their “story” until the RUclips doc and I always thought they were top 6 of hip hop groups ever.
Best Breakfast Club surprise. Y'all had me yelling in my car when this aired. These brothas represent everything people say has been lost in hip hop. Side note: On top of the documentary, go run and play May the Lord Watch the album. It fits right next to their classics, even without 9th.
Can these two herbs talk about LB and Rawkus without all the "Lyrical Miracle", "Underground backpack" qualifiers like a bad joke from 2001. Put respect on LB and Rawkus for making music. You do LB and labels like Rawkus a disservice when you talk down on their legacies like that.
I agree with the timeless comment. I did a six hr road trip last week and put on a LB Spotify Playlist and it was the most enjoyable ride I had in a while.
I'm shocked I haven't heard from them back then, but after seeing this interview I watched the doc and went through the catalogue---I'mma fan, I'mmma fan...I'mmma fan!
Still my favorite rap group. I’ve been waiting on LB to hit the Breakfast Club from jump. Started listening to LB when I was 17 when The Minstrel Show dropped.
Great Interview. I remember when The Listening dropped. My Senior year in High School. I'm 38 years old now. It's dope when some of your favorite rappers have aged well and you feel like you grown with them. Much respect to Little Brother. #LBBizness
Little brother one of the greatest hip hop groups ever
Their “The Minstrel Show” album was and is a CLASSIC! I still listen to it today!
A Top 50 Hip Hop album imo.
Indeed. This as well as The Listening.
Same and Chitlin Circuit as well
Was listening earlier TODAY!!! Didn't even know this interview dropped!! I'm for this!

Damn, never thought I’d see these two on here. The Listening and Minstrel Show raised me
They were life soundtracks for me also. They represent the best memories of the early/mid 2000’s while life was actually f’d up.

Same! I was in my sophomore yr in a very yt private college, music kept me sane lol
Killer Mike winning a Grammy for MICHAEL should motivate groups like this to put out new material.
Tay has been Grammy nominated.

I'll never forget finding them on myspace in 05 and falling in luv with their "the minstrel show" album so amazing! I was so happy to see them at the roots picnic last yr 🙌🏼🖤
Like I said before, Little Brother been more of a duo than a trio throughout their careers and we all got use to that
