9 wonder murdered this beat OMG.
Yes he did!!!!

...I concur vehemently...straight massacred it...
9th is a monster in production
plus the chorus on top of it completes it
Little Brother was like the last hiphop group that tried to bring hiphop back to it's roots. I will forever respect them for that and they will forever be one of my favorite hiphop groups of all time...
Damn straight
what about Clearsoulforces they're advancing Hip-Hop right now they're like a mix of LB and Pharcyde with mad ill chemistry.
100%
Real talk
Agreed!!!!! 💯
One of the greatest beats of all time. And Phonte's verse is just bonkers.
Phonte ALWAYS deliver..!!!!
Most definitely.
The song brings back memories. Mann...
9th is a genius for this beat
Incredible beat.. haven't heard this in awhile.. glad Ralph McDaniels played it on video music box 8-27-23 the beat is Incredibly Dope. I could just listen to the beat alone and vibe.. lyrics are hot too tho..
This song gives me chills
Yeah man. Been giving me chills since '09
Hip-Hop Facts!
I thought I was the only person felt that way...
Big facts
It makes me miss home. Im from Winston Salem and here in Kansas
They got me in trouble in 3rd grade lmao. We had free time on the computer and I didn't know googling "The Minstrel Show" was a crime in school. She reacted like I searched up "big black booty thunder clapping " or "Buffie The Body" something wild like that. I tried to explain to my teacher that it was an album but she wasn't having that. Dad almost whooped my ass but he looked it up and saw the album and was "oh". He went out and bought it for me too. Good times. Good times.
Jared Banks that’s Amazing My Brotha👏🏾👏🏾😂😂🙏🏾
Great story!!!
MAJOR fuckin props to your pops for buying that album. Blessed you with a classic at a young age.
Is your avi the nigga from Dave Chappelle that told John Mayer to *"STFU"* when he was playing the guitar in the barbershop?
😂😂😂😂😂😂 that is too funny
2005 was a good year for me. Late Registration, Be and The Minstrel Show had me eating for that year.
I fell in love with this joint when I first heard it. that Ministrel Show album is dope as fuck
100% agreed
High school days for me
Real shit!!!!
Summer of 05 Detroit great memories
The Drake-Kendrick beef leading people to discover Little Brother is not what I expected lol. To all y'all hearing them for the first time, you have A LOT of good music to look forward to!
Tons!!!!
Damn that’s crazy. I missed that part. How did LB come up during the beef?
Conversations about how Drake Phonte style wise @@FeralJag
One of the best hip hop instrumentals of all time.. slept on heavenly
THIS is still a banger in 2024👑✨🤌🏾
Who else lovesthe dreamy feeling you get while listening to the chorus?
Absolutely right on point!@

Endeed

And What's that joint 9th sampling........ Stylistics- One Night Affair
F. W. Yes

I’ve been wanting to know this for years lol

Remember when BET said this was "too intelligent" while a way past its prime MTV had no problem playing it?
Brings tears to my eyes. Real hip hip!
LeRoy Richardaon Jr. Never gets old
Never gets old Carolina classic
One of the best use of an old school sample ever. The lead singer of the Stylistics voice is a samplers dream.
Well said.
Russell Thompkins Jr. is the lead vocalist. The Stylistics were the essence of real vocal ability back in the 1970's
@@keithb9774 I thought his name was Russell Thompkins Jr.
do you happen to know what song they sampled on this?
Definitely, a certified classic that was swept under a Rug.
Blame Benzino and the source
@@HieiDaHellSpawn94 😳
As they said back in the day “WORD UP!!” Loving it!
This should be on the radio to this present day. This is music for the soul.
the most underrated retail single of all time.
politics as usual.
I used to watch mtv jams a lot in 2009. Never remembered seeing this song appear.
Minstrel Show was like 03-06 of the top a my head. 09 9th already dipped for duke/Jamla ventures.
Came out in 2005
This is one of my favorite songs ever, like period 😍😍😍!! I was at an industry party here in Atlanta and the DJ played this song out of nowhere! I went up to him and hugged him at his booth. All the hip hop heads was surrounding the booth super lit. Definitely was a moment. 😍😍😍😍
Same feeling out here in Jersey. ❤
✊🏼🫶🏼🎧
i love this story. Hip hop was my life then people stopped doing it for the love of the art. the women aren’t into it anymore. they Barely like rap anymore.
This was my MYSPACE song for months! What a throwback!
hiphop production at it's finest
little brother nice on the mic too
jdilla dope Awesome skills dope lttte brother look album
Anyone here because Fonte is Drake's blueprint
Cus not me loving this song and not adding it up in my mind till now 🤦🏽♀️
Yup
How are you gonna spell his name wrong? It's Phonte
"Fonte" 🤔🤦♂️
It's Phonte not Fonte
I'm convinced,
North Carolina has the most over looked hip hop talent.
my city
J. Cole's still holdin' it down from the 'Ville (Fayetville, NC)!!
Kieran Bjork
...Raeford
..New York now
still your country neighbor
donTe Antonio I'm convinced Minnesota is shamefully overlooked and underrated, as far as all the hip hop gems I've found from there, too ;)
Joey Diaz Oh hey lol, I love waking up to hip hop especially with beats this beautiful. They're *perfect* songs to wake up to. My favorite part of the day is when it's so early its still dark out. Between that darkness and the sunrise, is the best part of the day. I think it's called twilight? I just asked my bf, but he wasn't sure either. I had to train myself to get up at 5am. I've always hated the morning. But I grew to love being up early, listening to music and walking around outside looking up at stars and the moon that's still there. Even today (on Sundays) I'm up by 6 and at the *very* latest 6:30-7am. Now I'm rambling.. ok bug u later-
I remember bumping this album driving around Hampton University campus in 2003. I was so proud of them for getting their break as I had been fans of them since the Listening. Here I am in my early 40s and still rep Little Brother hard. Thanks to Pooh, 9th and Tay for keeping it truthful
I feel ya my bro
2024 we still about
Still slapping this 2018
Yep
Yes!!!!!!

The Minstrel Show is 1 of the best underrated albums ever
In all fairness, The Minstrel Show was never really underrated as it was critically acclaimed throughout various hiphop circles. I'd say it was more 'unappreciated' on a mainstream tip, if anything. But for music of this caliber, that's expected.
Without Phonte, There Is No Drake
2020 AND I STAY BUMPIN THIS IN THE WHIP....CLASSIC!!!!!
2023
@@WillRobinsonDanger 2024 FAM STILL BUMPIN THIS CLASSIC
Got a DUI leaving a Little Brother show when I was fresh 21 😫😆 I will always love them!!
I can't stop playing this track cause I'm Lovin' it 💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥
This song never gets old
2004 I was visiting my girl at Wake Forest University and saw their flyers around campus...we went to their show in Durham and they killed it...glad to see their success...9th, Phonte, and Pooh are all some of my favorite artists to this day.
Instant classic 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Drake copied this man’s style
This song is hip hop perfection

9th Wonder with that Stylistics sample is crazy

It's December 27th 2023 ... And this joint still the shit
If you get a "feeling" when you're listening to music. Then it's soul music. I FEEL this.

9th Wonder is genius ❤
Joe Scudda has one of the most simple but audacious verses in hiphop
Damn Drake stole this man whole persona … even sound like him
That was his hero too I wonder if he paid him some money under the table
WORD FOR WORD BAR FOR BAR!!!!
I will never stop loving this song
I cannot believe I just heard about these dudes today. This jam is ethereal. Out of sight.
🔥🔥
Welcome to Little Brother. I been listening to them since like 2010 or 2011.
@@RichardY-yd4xbI would get little exposure here and there growing up like their song on NBA 2K6, but really got into them in 2012 and been rocking ever since.
My homie sent me them a few months ago and me being a hip hop head can’t believe i never heard this 🔥
#classic still playing in 2024!!!
Can’t believe BET banned this
All my friends are hitting me up about the new documentary because I put them up on LB. much love
Still listening in 23”🔥🔥🔥
A MOST BEAUTIFUL BEAT EVER I INSTANTLY TURNED TO SEE--- WHO *IS THIS!!???*
This is the hip hop I love. The essence if you will. That shit that hits you in your soul. I know there's people out there still holding it down and making the real but I'm losing touch. All I hear is the commercial and it depresses me. The Cross Over done happened. Just my perception as part of the old school though.
This song is standing the test of time.#classicshit.
Listening to this makes me wonder how many great songs are out there i have never heard....this is niiiiice🔥🥰
Yes everybody can thank Phonte for being one of the coldest, inspired one of the biggest Hip Hop artists in history.... Drake, Phonte should tell him Thank me later!!! LOL 😅
This is one those joints that instantly lifts your mood
The nostalgia
not a G but I move like them with a head full of smarts
9th Wonder and Joe Scudda is for grown folks who know the difference
The 1st video I ever worked. Thanks Beni
Not true but the South are purest. Their sound stands out
This SHIT SOUNDS SOOOOO GOOD. I fucking love hip-hop man. I can't even be it into words. I remember this coming out during my junior year of college. Still sounds good. That's when you know real hip hop music is TIMELESS.
2022! Had JUST moved to Chicago Fall 2005 when this dropped. Used to come on late late nights on MTV Jams. STILL some of my best Windy City memories 😂😂🫡
This song is and WILL forever be a CLASSIC....THE BEAT IS 🔥🔥🔥 The Bars are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
R.I.P. Little Brother.!! Still bumping in 2k16
Me too! Bumping it now.
Me too! Bumping it now.
pfft still bumpin in 2k17
2k17!
He's dead?
Phonte is the man! Came with foreign exchange killing it! Phonte can rap sing produce and wrote better than most on the main stream radio!
this song is so good i dont know how nobody knws this
Never forget that BET refused to play this video, because it was "too educational"
Who’s here in 2021 ?
One of the best groups ever!
919 stand up!!!🙌🏿
Its beautiful to see Big remo and chaundon with the guys, i miss that times 😢
They be around
bumping this since I was 14 I'm 25 now still playing this...this is what real hip hop sounds like....I'm tired of these new rappers with their mumble rap and their trap rap bullshit .....
real hip hop no Illuminati
I discovered them because of Lil Wayne rapping over this beat! I was like wtf is this… soo dope. Original song is even better than Wayne’s freestyle!!
01:53 Gotta love the Buckshot cameo
Who still listening in 2020??
Who’s jammin’ this in 2019?
The beat, the sample the flows. So smooth and cold man
I remember when Lil Wayne rapped over this beat on Dedication 2. This is truly a hip hop CLASSIC💯
Smh everyone know BET never aired this video because it was too intelligent smh that's a damn shame
Exactly Edited Music
yeah but MTV Jamz loved this video in '05. Played it all the time
They did used to play this on VH1 Soul...
yeah
Maybe it was the album title Minstrel Show, which was a blackface show back in the day. Check out the posters at 0:02.
This was a great time in life.
Lil wayne murder this on the dedication 2💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💯💯💯
It's wild looking back on this and seeing the cameos in the video.
I didn't know who Skyzoo was at the time, and I definitely didn't remember the BCC being in the video.
It's a really good memory to revisit every now and then.
Daily reminder that this group was labeled as "too intelligent" for the BET audience.
2023 and I'm STILL BUMPIN THIS SONG WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN!!! 🗣️NC STAND THE FUCK UP!!!!
This album is 20yrs old?!? 😲😮🫣😳🤯
I was lucky enough to have heard this when it came out, even had the cd when I was locked for 10
I had this during my 8 piece lol paid 4 out of music by mail for the cd
Still lovin it in 2024

2023, this is still a banga.
one of the greatest hip hop songs of all time!
Still listening in 2021!!! This joint is timeless...
best rap group of 2000's. change my mind
How does this not have 10 million views. REAL HIP HOP RIGHT HERE
because, according to BET, its "too intelligent for its audience"
If you're listening in 2047 give this a like.
yes sir!
I loved the hip hop of this era...
Hip Hop Classic 💯👍🏾👏🏾👊🏽
