This is so beautiful. I still watch this after two or three years of being aware of it and still can’t get over the beautiful ride that this 20 minutes is.
Saw this trio in Evanston, Illinois. Scofield killed it. I dubbed him the "funky gandalf" after the show. Such groove such wisdom and humility; quirky and dance-able.
Reminds me of the early morning on a day off listening to Coltrane's "Nadia" and "After the rain". Thanks to the band and the poster. John sounds almost like he has a mic in that tele. Such an acoustic tele sound.
toreropalido That's just not true at all. He still sounds like himself, but if you dont hear the tonal difference between his semi-hollow Ibanez and the Tele, you don't have a very good ear.
I also have moved from ES-335 type guitars and jazz boxes to a Tele. It really is that good. I should have done it a long ago. The other part of John's tone id the Vox amp. I have not moved though but use an A class Mesa
? Absolutely the greatest living guitar player in the world he's just wonderful

The Funky Gandalf, I like that. I will be using that moniker as a JS reference. Thanks...
What a trio... true story teller!
I like so much, it's really beautiful!!!

Larry Goldings on Hammond organ and Greg Hutchinson on drums
The Goldings Scofield combo is magic and still going strong with the Scary Goldings stuff
adorabile...Larry....
No hectic atmosphere, just tension...that's it!
What a wonderful tune
Straight Up Serious Awesome
I love how Stern, Frisell, and Sco all use Teles now.
Finally Keith Richards has convinced them all ;)
stern always used teles afaik...
The guitar is irrelevant. He sounds the same with an Ibanez, Gibson or Fender. Just sayin....

ishta totally agree, I have always been playing jazzy stuff with semi-hollow gtr, I am playing tele now too... amazing instrument
Nederigheid & Toewijding - pure Passie !!
Wonder why the tele label is censored?
As far as I know he is playing a 79’s Ibanez law suit model.
i love how sco is growing the jim hall beard now that JH ain't around to rock it
organic scofield!
I like some of the chords he puts over the melody. Lots of outside-y stuff. Love it. Makes me hard.
yeahhhh
unsung guitar hero.
Anybody know what guage strings Sco uses on his Tele styled guitars?
10s on tele, 12s on ibanez
No, I don’t know but thanks for asking.
I like jazz. I could never play it because of the faces they make.
