Question I’m using Lutris to launch my non steam games can I still use trainers even tho I can’t get the steam ui to work during my Lutris games . Is there’ a way to use trainers on Lutris run games
Thanks a lot for this, now I can have the fling trainer for Octopath 2 on the deck without having to use it on laptop and download the cload save of things I changed to Deck. This opened up so much for me.

This method will work with any fling standalone trainers. Provided on three conditions, 1. If the Steam Deck forks the custom command properly and the trainer is launched parallel to the game via Steam Tinker Launcher.
2. A latest fling trainer is available for games, so you can enable the option by selecting them directly.
3. If you have only old version the option enabling won't be there, so you'll need to use keyboard with numpad to enable the cheats...

After setting up and launching the game, the labels downloading / installing mod organizer quickly appear after that the game crashes, the proton versions are selected with which both the game and the trainer are launched separately

Hey man. Just joined the steam deck band waggon thanks to your videos and tutorials. Thank yo so much for that. Thing is I still can't seem to get trainers to run on the steam deck, either using the cheatdeck way or the steam tinckerlauncher way. I know for a fact the trainer works when I use it on my PC, but it won't launch on the deck. And yes I enabled developer mode, but doesn't seem to work. Is here something I'm doing wrong? Just a side not. the non steam game was added via steam, didn't use lutris or heroic.
Try downloading another trainer. Maybe even try downloading the trainer I used in the video just to make sure your setup is good. It's most likely the trainer issue. Even if it works on pc doesn't mean it works on steamos.

I followed this the way the video said to and now I have infinite loading screen on any game I try to open. Not just resident evil 4 the steam logo just swirls the whole time. Is there a fix to this?
It might be steam tinker launch having issues, try using this to fork the trainer instead ruclips.net/video/EsUZ1VbXC34/видео.html.

I got fling working how do you get fling 2 work on game in game mode?
you need to be on developer mode to switch between game window and the trainer window.
I followed the steps but when I started the game I was hit with "Unhandled exception has occurred in you application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Invalid window handle" If I press continue it opens up the program but all the mods aren't there, the screen is blank. What do I do?
Is it an issue with the trainer you are using? Try a different trainer.
So i launch my game trainer comes up but game doesnt want to load at all after 20min what to do
I suggest changing the proton version in the steam tinker launch game menu.
Hey mate, thanks for the tutorial. So far I could hook the trainers for different games up, but I have no visible toggles to actually use it. The only way would be a keyboard with the numpad buttons. Did you see anything like this? Cheers!
Some stand alone trainers don't have the slide bar which is a pain. And can't change the toggle key which steam deck can toggle the numpad numbers. It's just that way. That's why I like to use wemod but not everyone can install wemod. Happy New Year 🎊
The trainer and the game don't want to start together, but when I swap the EXE from the trainer with the one from the game, the game starts without any further changes. The same witch Cheat Engine.
Stand alone trainers are a hit or miss.
I got it to work with Nioh 1. Only issue is that the list of cheats is large and the ones i want are at the bottom, off screen - there doesnt seem to be any way to scroll down to get them & the keyboard shortcuts dont really work in handheld mode as far as I can tell.

Yup, some trainers are not steam deck friendly.
This no longer works the game crashes after loading the fling trainer please help. I’ve tried installing and reinstalling steamtinker launch but the game won’t load with the trainer anymore.

This method has been great however as some have already stated Trainers From mid August and on no longer trigger STL and load in forked menu.
then i think cheat happens aurora is the next best thing, but most of the cheats there are behind a paywall.

Yes some trainers don't have slide bar toggle and only numpad button which sucks. That's why I prefer wemod over stand-alone trainers.

Maybe try the game I'm demonstrating first to see if it works. If it doesn't then you might have missed something. If it does, then it might be the trainers issue for the others games you tried.

It kinda the same but less steps as Rog ally is using windows, the trainers just work as they are designed to run on windows.

Not all trainers downloaded from the internet works. Some are even dangerous exe.

Trying to run Tomb Raider trainer. Error message pops up asking to run as administrator. Is this possible on SD?

Some report that latest trainers like Remnant 2 and The Last of Us part 1 and not working anymore

I haven't encountered that, I will check and see if there's a fix.
How did you resize the window size of the game once launched?
this was just a demo on how to set it up, in practice, you should play on gaming mode which will be full screen.
sorry for being impolite but may I ask is this Flingtrainer safe? I play on my PC with wemod and everything is slendid. I haven't use trainer before.
You can use wemod on steam deck. I have tutorials on my channel to install that. Also, lots of trainers on wemod are by fling. I'm not 100% sure they are safe but my steam deck is just a gaming device. I don't put any important stuff on it or do any e-banking or any passwords login. Try to separate that stuff. If in doubt, don't do it.

Yes, works the same but normally I use wemod.

Sounds like the trainer is the problem. Download another one to try.

why? steam tinker launch is not an option for lutris at the moment.
@@GrownUpGamingGUG got a game that cant be launch from steam but can from lutris, but anyway i fixed it and managed to run both trainer and game from lutris.

0:28 i didnt found that switch tab between trainer and the game. How can i enable it? Btw i have followed this tutorial and the trainer is showed up. But i cant turn it on because of this.
In gaming mode, settings > system > enable developer mode toggle this on.

Stem tinker is trying to start the game with proton 8.0-3 no proton works. How do I get around this ?
You can change the proton version you want to use in the settings of steam tinker launch. Go to main menu, game menu.

Not that I know of. However, wemod works for games installed with lutris.
Hello, so I try everything you did, but when I launch the game, it keeps taking me to the Rockstar game launcher installer, it could be because my game file are moved to the SD card. If you can help me out let me know thanks.
When I launch the game with twinker launcher off, the game launches fine.

Yeah I can go to the menu and the trainer opens, but instead of the game launching it keeps opening the Rockstar games launcher installer, I go through the install process and when it is done installing, says game data not found. And exits.
Maybe use a different trainer.

how do you alt tab in between the trainer and game on the steam deck? I am not sure how to do that
in gaming mode, make sure you enable developer mode, then when you press the steam button, you can switch windows. in desktop mode, just alt-tab.

@@RJTechTalks57 when you restart the steam deck you are in gaming mode. the mode where it's like steam big picture mode. go to settings, system and the is a toggle to enable developer mode there.

you are probably doing something wrong, i've used many stand-alone trainers and no issues. probably jump on my discord and share some screenshots of what you are doing.
hey man, the trainer does not show up as window to switch it ingame in console mode, altough i can see the trainer is indeed in the background but there is no window for it to change in mid game, any ideas? (dev mode is on)
it should be available if you have developer mode on. it's not happened to me before. not really sure. might need to look into it.

I purchased this game through Steam and I’m hoping to be able to bounce between PC and steam deck with my save. If I do these cheats on the steam deck for money or items, will they stay within the save file and save to the cloud? Or am I risking something there?
Should be safe with single player. But don't blame me if anything bad happens. Use at your own risk.

I normally find a trainer that has sliders to activate or something that can change toggle button at least.

@@maikawakami9514 yes enable developer mode in gaming mode so you can switch between windows. i'm not very familiar with stand alone trainers as there is so many of them and i use wemod with non-steam games mostly.

Hey, having an issue and I was hoping someone could help? Set it all up, but when I'm in gaming mode and I switch windows to the trainer, I can't press anything. Touching the screen doesn't do anything, and holding Steam + Right Pad I can move the mouse around but clicking does nothing.
I've checked and confirmed the game process name is not flashing. Game in question is Nioh.
When I close the game it lets me interact with the trainer window.
You need to go to settings of the steam deck gaming mode and enable developer mode.
@@GrownUpGamingGUG Hey thanks for the reply. I already am in dev mode. As in, in Settings at the bottom there's "Developer". I can switch to it fine, but I can't interact with it at all, even to close it or pressing any buttons in the trainers window. Any ideas?

@@GrownUpGamingGUG It moves the mouse around but clicking does nothing. I also noticed when I start the game, I can't skip intro videos unless I hold Steam and click the right touchpad which seems to focus the game, then I can skip them pressing A. I don't know if that's related.
I just tried it with Resi Evil 1 (and a non-fling trainer) and same thing. When I hold Steam + Right pad and move the mouse in the trainer window, I can hear the games menu highlight changing as I go up and down, so it seems the game stays in focus even after I switch windows.

Using Cheats Ruined Gaming for me As a Child lol i thought it was so cool, intill i got older and realized The fun part is actually grinding to get the items you want , Cool thst it exists though .

Grinding in the vast majority of games is the most boring part of the game though.
I guess I’m too old and have too many responsibilities… the second a game doesn’t feel fun it gets turned off immediately, even if it’s only been on for less than 5 minutes
