Ken, you were indeed not hallucinating of what I regard as "Clifford the red big dog" with a Mcdonalds cap. And also if you plan on playing, realize that preparation is the big part of the game, eating, checking out the numbers that your weapon can dish out, armor perks, and then you start with tracking monsters.
@@thornwall1277 Having no preparation will usually make hunts last way longer and make them harder, like having perks that aren't useful against a certain monster, or using the least effect element on a weapon, as well as eating at the canteen so that you can have a few minor perks and higher stamina + health. Overall, most of the game time is preparing rather than fighting if you ever want to do big damage, there's also grinding for monster parts, as well as there being a chance of not getting the parts you need for new equipment.
@@thornwall1277 this is true. There are loadouts that you can set, but If you don’t take time to prepare one adequately, your hunts could easily last 20 minutes or more. With good preparation, you should never spend more than 15 minutes on a first-time hunt. I personally average about 7-9 mins
@@thornwall1277 Partly that depends on how far in you get, partly that depends on familiarity. Later on into the game, you gain access to more skills that give you a _lot_ more breathing room to just go ham, and the more you fight the same monsters the better you'll get at not respecting their personal space. I've put 600+ hours into the game, killed every monster in the game at least 5 times (except the last one cus i'm waiting on a friend to catch up), and _maybe_ i've reached the point where not min-maxing my stats as much as i could have is slowing me down more than the process of min-maxing would have
World and Iceborne are definitely really good for newcomers to learn and have fun, but it’s also not super great if you also intend on playing the older titles or even the games after, Rise and Rise Sunbreak. World renamed a bunch of items needlessly, added tons of new stuff like Mantles, changed how decorations and talismans are obtained and overall is fairly different. It’s always a good idea to have an older player help walk you through your first run through since this series does not like giving you tutorials but still, World is a very good place to start.
If you do play Monster Hunter World (and by extension Iceborne), the best advice is to just take your time with it and absorb everything. Have fun just wandering zones, exploring, and of course, have fun taking your time while systematically turning monster after monster into a new fancy coat.
If you want Max0r to turn your brains into mush with flashing lights and loud noises, i would recommend watching his UltraKill videos. They are.... quite the experience
Monster Hunter is an excellent series. I'd recommend it, and World really does a good job of easing you into it. The best advice is to either look up a tutorial on how the weapon combat works for your SPECIFIC WEAPON - they ALL play differently and have different controls - or do a lot of testing in the training area where it will show you the button inputs and what the outcome will be. If it's your first Monster Hunter, this is basically necessary - it's not like most action combat games where you spam buttons, it's very deliberate. But although it is technical, it isn't something like a fighting game where you need to rapidly input precise commands, it's much slower and more methodical. World is VERY beginner-friendly compared to when I got into the series. They've come a long way and done a great job. The story also isn't as bad as Max0r says it is, but yeah it's... a monster hunter story. One of the best monster hunter stories, actually... It's not really a game you play for the plot.
MHW/Iceborne still had pretty cool things :The Elder crossing, the place of Man/hunters within nature, the ecological role of the Nergigante in regulating the population of ED, the quotes from Seeker (best character), the cycle of life and death of nature, the lore related to Bioenergy.. These are absolutely brilliant and memorable concepts
That one point where Maxor disses Rise for the Switch by calling it a bad port seems undeserved. It actually plays really well, and it’s not even a port of anything. It’s literally the original lol

If you guys ever play this, definitely play iceborne too. It brings back a lot of fan favorite monsters along with new ones too and introduces master rank.
Monster Hunter World is the best entry in the franchise, in my opinion. An absolute must play. Been playing them since the first one and I've got over a thousand hours in this one alone, it's incredible. As for this video, I'm gonna have to watch the original now just because it's so much insanity going on at once that it's absurd lol. But it was hilarious
Huh. Back when I played this, Insect Glaive was the only weapon that spoke to my mental illness. Never could get into any of the others no matter how many times I tried them.
If you guys are looking for more Monster Hunter content, I’d definitely say give Oceaniz’s Nature of Monster Hunter series a go, which is made with lore and the theoretical ecology that can be pieced together. With the first “season” being on World/Iceborne, and then the current season is on Rise/Sunbreak. Granted, these are very much moral essays, but it does flesh out the world all the more.
Oh no, I'm also a main Insect Glaive. I fear for my sanity. And yes, it's a lengthy game, even more if you just want to do every side quest and collect every armor and all the min-max crown. I have 1270h on this game. Please send help.
I suggest a redo on the Monster Hunter Rise Sumbreak monster intros because you got the video without the voice audio and just noises and awkward poses
Monster Hunter Games have one thing in common, they are never realy over because there is so much you can do. I have over 2000 houres and I could do so much like improve my Sets even more to make them perfect (weapon and armor), kill all Monsters 50 or more times and look to kill them as fast as possible but I'm not so hard in the game because my 2000 houres can be considert as medium playtime xD. If you want to play it than World is the best start you can have.
