It is doomified half-life with less science, but more claustrophobia and horror. I played it once and non-stop as I was total engaged with the horror atmosphere and a bit of mystery. But half-life had much more replayability mostly because of all the weird gadgets in the game and different ways of doing things, including some puzzles and even the possibility of changing some small outcomes. The absence of all sorts of moral choices in Half-Life that need to be maintained throughout the whole game made it less burdensome in comparison with much later games that started doing politics and social commentary. None of this is of course present in Doom III and so, in a way, it is inferior to Half-Life as a construct. The compensation is the horror atmosphere and scares. Very simple formula in comparison with Half-Life.

Haha Doom 3 is one game that I never finished. I gotta come back to it someday.
