I actually remember that dr who story from the 80s and I remember the guy that ritchie was portraying...in real life the actor did contract aids and die, hence RTD blended real life with this story...
Great reaction at 9:12 when the Daleks show up. That’s semi-based on a real life actor Dursley McLinden, who appeared in the 7th Doctor story “Remembrance of the Daleks,” in 1988,. He died of AIDS-related complications in 1995, at the age of 30.
Plus, the show creator Russell T. Davies revived the show and was the showrunner till David Tennant left. He's coming back this year!
Hi. I have one of the original costumes that was in Doctor Who, that were recreated for this scene. Worn by actor Jim Findley. I was so thrilled that this scene was recreated.
I only just watched It's A Sin last week!
I told my partner that they needed to watch Our Flag Means Death, they said they would if I watch It's A Sin...
Cut to me, watching the final episode after two glasses of wine, bawling my eyes out, internally screaming "THIS WAS NOT AN EQUIVALENT TRADE!!" 😭
I broke down multiple times during this series. To grow up during that time period to little or no hope that you would survive...just devastating.
My brother came out because he was HIV+ and had AIDS in 1989 (we found out after Christmas Day). My family asked if I was gay and I lied and said, "No." (It was all I could do from hyperventilating). I lied because I wasn't acting on it (I never came out until I was 39). My brother passed away in 1993 at the age of 36. I saw a lot of young men who were dying during the years my brother came out and when he died (The hospital visits were an eye-opener).
Make sure you have a big box of tissues for the final episode. Clause 28 prevented me from pursuing me intended career as a school teacher, I feared the kids would out me and I would soon be out of a job. Glad Roscoe pissed in Mrs. Thatcher’s coffee pot! She voiced her concerns that children were being taught in school that they had an inalienable right to be gay. Thank goodness times did change, but as you note trans and gay hatred is on the rise.
Thank you for sharing your emotions with us Andres
Great reaction Andres, thanks for sharing your stories. Can’t wait to see your reaction to episode 5. Also really excited for years and years!
Oh my goodness. You definitely need a hug my friend, I was crying with you. I see you recorded this a while ago. This is one of RTDs finest works. A hug from me 🤗
Love your reactions so much! WHY AM I ALWAYS CRYING WITH YOU WHEN YOU WATCH ITS A SIN?
Russell T Davies is fucking brilliant. Such a brilliant story teller and knows how to build hope and to make you suffer. I hope you love the next episode, and I hope you love Years and Years too. There is such a stigma even now to have HIV/AIDS, but I am so glad this stigma is slowly being worked down. I hope you recovered and we all love you ❤️
The actor who plays richie (olly alexander) is the lead singer in a band called ‘years and years’ have you heard of them? They some really good songs
Yes, please watch some of Olly Alexander’s music videos. He plays Ritchie on “It’s a Sin.” Here’s one that guest stars Kylie Minogue (she played Astrid on Doctor Who) ruclips.net/video/NvESV234lg0/видео.html
You can cry anytime you want, there's only love here! ❤
Im so excited to hear you did a "years and years" review!!!
I remember my first test back in 2006 it took 4 weeks to return the results and that 4 weeks was painful i was so scared i hadnt been out long and i didnt want to die, luckily it came back fine and touch wood always will be.... my local queer bars give away free protection to try and prevent transmission,
Omg Years & Years is fabulous!!!
Hiya, Andres. This is my favourite mini series. Ta. ❤

You are going to need valium and vodka for no 5! But it is worth it!
