@@Joerelaxx That was a long trip, we hit Coral Pink after Sand Mountain. I still have lots of footage from that day to edit as well. Packing up and heading to St. Anthony end of the week.
Great vid. Subscribed. I’m in the market for LT500R. Found one 1987. Are parts available for it. Checked some websites that say discontinued. Where do you buy parts? Who do you recommend?
Thanks for subscribing! Parts are getting harder to find. We mostly buy what we can when we can find them. Several of us have been buying these for years and have hoarder parts for a long time. That said it’s still tough times. Check out some Facebook groups.
@@QuadGuyCy can't wait. We don't have the Godzilla in South Africa so it's always nice to see properly done videos of them especially in the sand where they belong 👍🏻
yall should play on the back side. find a place called sunset. that hill is very steep and then ride the roller coaster, its a s form of huge dunes that link together. i live a hour from the utah sand dunes and i try and go every other weekend.ill watch for yall and i bet if you ask any naive utah guy on the weekend to show you 9 times out of ten they would love to.
I wish I lived that close! We would have definitely asked but no one was around! I was hoping to be there next week but I had to bow out of this trip so I could watch my son race this weekend.
Utah has a lot of great places to ride. If you go around the back side of the mountain there are a lot of trails. You should also try Coral Pink Sand Dunes, which is further south. It has some big dunes too but is more scenic. It also has better camping accommodations.
They really do! We’ve talked about bringing some dirt tires some time but our inner sand addicts keep saying no! I’ve been to Coral Pink twice. My next video will be content from there actually. It’s a really beautiful place but imho one of the most dangerous dune fields I’ve ridden. In one of my older videos there’s footage of a friend of mine who almost rode his last ride there.
@@ianbergman965 I wish I lived that close! These 2.5 day drives can get old! Ever make it to Coral Pink? While not the tallest dunes I consider that place some of the sketchiest dunes I’ve ridden. I’ll have a video from that part of the trip up eventually.
@@ianbergman965 I can understand that! I say Coral Pink is the sketchiest sand I’ve ridden. Lots of weird formations and that different color sand I find incredibly hard to read. I’ll actually be at St. Anthony next week.
For the price they are hard to beat imho. 22 years ago the Elka Legacy series was their high end stage 3 shock. I bought a set back then for my 400ex. They were about $3500 back then. That set has been rebuilt 4 times. On the Zilla they are definitely an improvement on the front end, the stock Zilla rear shock is a decent shock. If you have one that’s nice enough to be rebuilt, have it sprung for your weight they work well but the cost maybe almost the same as just purchasing a new Elka Legacy rear.
Great video! I broke down and bought a razor because i thought 50 year olds were supposed to mello out, but I still kinda prefer to rip around on the quads. Come on out to the Oregon dunes...
@@jcapen1 That’s been part of the discussion. How do we transport all our quads and our Harley’s so we can do both? Also with drive time we feel we need 2 weeks minimum.
@QuadGuyCy If you have enough cargo trailer space and don't need a rv , there are some good airbnb options with dune access. You could easily stay busy for two weeks. If you are planning to camp, count on a little rain, but there are some great options. I have a connection for a great spot with full hookups that runs a bit less than some of the other campgrounds.
Zilla's are fun bikes. My buddy still has one in great shape. Actually saw one for sale locally on Market place today. Pretty good shape over all. Wanted 5,500. Thinking about it.
They are my favorite for the sand. $5500 isn’t too bad if it’s in nice shape. It’s crazy what prices have done on them as well as just about any 2 stroke atv.
I’ve been there a couple of times. Last trip we took a rip from wash 10 to the border wall and back. Was over 80 miles, still need to make a video out of the footage. I love going there and getting away from the hot spots, there’s so much to see.
What kind of shape is it in? Has it been ridden recently? Start with the basics, make sure all the brakes are working and in good shape. Check your clutch and throttle, make sure everything works as it should. Get it in the air and check for play in the suspension, worn ball joints, tie rods, pivot bearings, etc.. For the engine really depends if it’s been sitting or running recently. Change the fluids pull the stator cover check the crank for play. Make sure carb boot is in good chair and that the is all sealed. Pull plug rotate engine make sure everyone spins freely. That should be a good start.
@ it’s very mint. It’s got brand new graphics. The frame is really good shape. I just had to do it tuneup on it adjusted the carb put new reads stuff like that. I got me a case saver from a guy in Massachusetts. Very good quality for a good price and order me a skid plate as we go down to Georgia at Durhamtown at least 5 to 6 times a yearlooking forward to going to Silverlake in Michigan this year. They said those dunes are really good.
@@samcobuggies984 I love me some Dinosaurs! 🦖 I also have no love for the Polaris stuff. I’ve worked on several. I still don’t understand how a company who made some of the worst atvs in existence became the number 1 choice in extreme golf carting.

I can’t believe how epic your conditions were! A never ending hot wheels track! Awesome video man 🤘
Thank you, the riding definitely made up for the muddy disaster that camp was!
How recent was this trip? “The steep side” is what us locals call the face.
Last fall, towards the end of September. It's a long face that's for sure!
