Great job Ethan, both in recovery, and diplomatic 😊.
Thanks for sharing

Absolutely!

Hey RON youve changed your voice?
@@Mrforthe sounds a lot younger and less grunting 😂
Only people who haven't seen it, don't love it!
You know it's about to be a good one, when the wrecker has to back down to the customer 😂😂😂
Ethan, your narration during this video is very good and much appreciated! Keep up the good work and God bless you!
You obviously prefer to work on your own.
I didn't know it was Ethan. I thought Ron had caught a bad cold.
@@john1703what?
The driver could've been using JILL which is the GPS in the truck . If you go out of route and click reroute it then reroutes for a car. It is the most stupidest system but hey Schneider thinks it's great.
Ron really taught Ethan well: small bites do the job. Well done recovery by Ethan.
Talk about musical cars, but all eventually got to where they need to be in the end without too much damage. If I was a kid on that bus, I would have been glued to that window. Good job as always.
Thanks for the video Ethan. Nice job on getting this semi rig back on the road. Good work.
Tandems are all the way back. That created the extreme turn radius.
That was the first thing I saw as well.
That would apply if you were on city streets. But here the prevailing mistake was taking the shortcut. Need to stay on state highways
@@jgpix1 I agree.
You are correct, and if his tandems were all the way forward he would have possibly made this corner, and gotten even deeper into where he shouldn't be!
@@jgpix1 Yeah but if you do not know the area GPS tells you go. I been there up in a guy's field and almost in his bar. and it was very dark. I almost ran down a hill/
“ It tells me……” Poor old GPS thrown under the drive tires again. It’s a tool people, an aid to help you but not a replacement for proper trip planning . You have the patience of a Saint dealing with these lads.
problem is they are using a gps that is designed for cars!
That the problem with not being familiar with and area, maybe they should use On X maps, might be better than Google maps.
I drove from Philly to OH and back with no gps... just a map book.
My uncle drove HGVs all over the UK up until 2023 not once did he ever use a GPS. He had a massive duffel bag of Maps of towns. He’d make notes of the bridges and height restrictions along with width restrictions and long lasting roadworks. He’d often get calls from other drivers relying on GPS to work out alternate routes
@@jays106no the problem is that common sense has to come into play. If the road doesn't look suitable for a big truck then don't drive down it.
Good morning Midwest Truck! So glad to see another video of helping a customer in a jam. Great job helping this unfortunate customer get on his way. No damage and no injury. Just some time lost, and a bite out of their bank account.
Stay safe and healthy.
Another Great Job !!!!! 1 of the best tow companies I've seen.
2:14 - 13K in the box and tandems slid all the way back? SMH. And not sure, but that looks like a 53' and none of the states I run in allow tandems all the way back. I don't blame the driver because he has no way of knowing what he doesn't know--I blame the system that "trained" him. Prayers for the driver that he gets someone good to mentor him.
It is a '53. Boggles the mind...
When I started at Schneider 20 years ago they did cover KPRA restrictions and the information is in the front of the Motor Carrier atlas. To be fair Schneider's wagons are often ragged out and a PITA to slide.
The GPS may have pointed him at that road but it didn't decide to attempt that turn (likely into an even worse situation from the look of things). GPS is an amazing tool but you have to know when to cut your losses and say "this plan doesn't work, lets figure out a new plan" (just like in the good old days when you were following a shipper's directions).
He got trained. We all go thru the same training program for that company. His own fault for getting stuck there.
I remember the day my GPS got changed from hiway to walking. I'm not a trucker or stupid, but caught on to how many days a 1 hour trip was going to take.
Like father, like son.
GPS is only a tool. The driver is the only person responsible for where the vehicle ends up, not the GPS.
Only 13K and the tandems are all the way back.
I personally met another Schneider driver at a drop yard and the guy barely spoke any English. Drove 600 miles to drop his loaded trailer which was ~48k and he never scaled it. Didn't know how to use the CAT scale. No clue how he got past all the weigh stations. I downloaded the app for him on his phone and tried to explain axle weight limits the best I could. These mega carriers have destroyed the industry.
Yeah that's what I was thinking. I run about 6 holes back hauling 48k. I see some of our other drivers with tandem all the way back and I know they 46k+😮
Some places want u too slide them back for loading he probably didn't think to slide them back
@@deebly_goncerned 47k and under don't need them slid. I don't get why drivers talk about not being able to turn with them all the way back. Never had any issues.
@@deebly_goncernedDon’t blame Schneider for that. We’re trained about those things. Personally I don’t typically scale a load less than 36k because I know it’ll be under the limits, unless I’m concerned about balance. 48k is gonna be over the total limit in those tractors.
Hey Ron, could you give us a photo slide show or line-up of all 18 of your vehicles (or at least those still in service).
That would be really cool
Well done Ethan you had a good teacher and youve learnt a lot from your DAD .
GPS?
More like avoiding a weigh station.
Probably over his hours.
Tandems at the rear position on the trailer.
Saw that too.
1st thing i noticed
The kids on the school bus learned something important today
Good job Eathan. You could have saved yourself a step by backing on front side of mail boxes and 2 cables to back of trailer frame behind icc bumper. This would allow you to control trailer and ease him back a bit at the same time. Great job. Just another observation.
Soooo….you wanna be a tow truck driver/problem solver? I couldn’t imagine what a bunch of yall witness. Thank goodness we got guys like Ron who give us a glimpse.
My only time I ever needed a tow was in a truckstop at the scales lol. I pulled off the scales into a mud puddle I couldn’t avoid and my tractor dropped to the axle. Needless to say the truck stop paid that tow bill and closed the scale. One of those crapholes in Mississippi that don’t maintain anything. Including knowing there is a deep mud hole full of water blocking the exit of the scale with no warnings what so ever.
I just love it now there's 2 bad ass rotater trucks 😂
Ethan's Western Star doesn't rotate.
When did Midwest get a second 'tator truck? Or just an up and coming but confident operator taking the same truck out?
Miss my heavy-duty towing days.
Only 13k in the trailer yet tandems set all the way back…no wonder he couldn’t make the turn.
Yeah, I'd had mine all the way forward.
Over the road trucks does not have full lockers just inter axle lockers
Great job, Eathen.
Another great job Stay safe and God bless
Awesome job Ethan it sounds like his lockers wasn't working properly but you over came the obstacle and got him out and going again stay safe and God Bless you all
Good job by everyone
Excellent job in a tight situation. Ethan, you are progressing well and will continue to learn for a very long time. Always be receptive to different ideas for varying conditions. STAY SAFE OUT THERE.
Good Morning There My Good Big Bro Ron Pratt Sir & God Bless You & All Of You're Whole Family & All Of You're Whole Staff & I Am Still Praying For All The People That Is Involved In The Automobile Accident As Well
Great job on this recovery Ethan! Looks like Ron has taught you well. How much should we bet that the "driver" wasn't using a heavy truck specific GPS? And one more question, do you ever see putting synthetic ropes on the wreckers? Lighter weight and just as strong as steel.
If people would learn to not let GPS be a total replacement for using their own heads, tow companies wouldn't be getting so much work. The same goes for an over reliance on calculators and spell-check. Use Google Maps and Street View (if available, Street View in not everywhere, yet) to familiarize yourself with the route _before_ embarking!
I couldn't agree more! I have taught my kids orienteering from a hiking perspective and I still catch them using turn-by-turn, only to get frustrated and go back to using a map to eyeball it.
ive had street view blur a clearance sign to try to protect the bridges identity or something
Really! When Mayhem(tm) tells you to turn down a street narrower than your rig, walk up and don't do it. But otherwise, yes, in today's world, there are zero excuses for not knowing where you're going.
He's got his trailer axles all the way back!!! Definitely a rookie
Another great video Ethan mate Great job 👏
Great job Ethan stay safe 0:06
Good job 👏❤...I've recently saw a handful of these trucks (Schneider)with out physical mirrors...they just had mirror I technology...it was cameras, pointed towards the rear of the trailer...and two tablets on the inside of the cab, thus representing the mirrors...I found that quite puzzling, due to the fact .what if the camera system failed..
I saw a truck set up like that a year or ago. I gotta tell you those cameras are far superior to regular mirrors! If one goes out stop the truck.
In UK/Europe Daf and Mercedes have cameras fitted and if camera gets broken or fails its a recovery back to dealers
my thought on cameras for rear view is its a bad idea because when you use a actual mirror your eye will focus on the object ( car etc.) but with a screen you focus on the screen . ok for young eyes but more difficult as your eye age . that why IMO the Tesla system is poor , look out he front refocus look at the screen refocus again . I do not know the law in the US if truck drivers can have vision correction ( glasses ) but they make quick refocus slower
Many of the newer trucks have the “mirror eye” camera system. I had the same thought…. If the tech fails and you don’t have physical mirrors? Plus I’m not a big fan of a big screen relatively close to my face inside the cab.
More SatNav shenanigans! Another driver caught out and needing help to get out of a 'pickle'. Fairly straightforward job for Ethan to tackle 'solo'. Well done that lad, you got the driver out with minimal fuss/damage. Shame about the traffic jam that ensued, but, as you commented Ethan, it is what it is!!! Greetings from the UK. God bless.
Been a truck driver for 18 years. So many things here too painful to watch. Mistakes happen. Don’t increase your odds of a mistake.
Good Job, Ethan, I can remember when you first started. Bless his heart, I have a feeling this trucker doesn't have much experience.
Congrats on your new car, it seems easier to have manual controls. Best regards. ------ yeni aracınız hayırlı olsun , kontrollerin manuel olması daha kolay gibi gözüküyor . saygılar. 🌱🍁🍀☘🌿
Respect for co-workers kit. Ethan's work ethic just went up a notch.
Interesting situ, but should be quick to get out.
I worked for them pulling tanker for about a month years ago. They would let us route are self but the dry van drivers had to follow the directions that the company gave them.
Keep up with the good work Ron and team love watching your videos on RUclips God bless
Absolutely awesome! I enjoy the different places and situations that are displayed!!!!
Great video and I do hope you get better soon! Sounds like you have whatever the east coast has.
I love this Ethan you do great work. Ron should be proud of you son
13,000lb load? Then why the heck are your tandems all the way back? Need to move them forward a bunch. That’s why you couldn’t turn and that’s assuming you were on a legitimate truck route…live and learn
Ya y run stretched out in town there’s times when you can and times you can’t but there was lots or room he could have still made the turn
As always the content on this channel is top notch. As an Applied Meteorology Major with a Minor in Communication Studies expected to graduate in a year. Your best source for local weather will be your local news station in conjunction with the National Weather Service local office. Forget the phone apps. I'm also the forecast champion of our colleges local wx challenge game. I rank within the top 100 nationwide for the current national wxchallenge game as well. God Bless.
Ethan, most of these semi trucks in USA have only cross axle locker. It means it only lock axles front to back. It does not have lockers for in axle diff, so power can still shift left to right. If both wheels on let say left side are spining, the other side will not move. This is what happend here.
Love this channel and give the driver credit he stopped instead forcing way thru and followed gps
he didn't have much choice he was stuck or he would have!
He never should have gone on that narrow road to get to that corner he got stuck on. I would have gone past that turn and figured out a different way to get to the drop.
Yes Ethan get your hard hat mounted on your helmet best thing I've heard all day 😂
Is that a Schneider driver or just one of their old trailers
Another great job and I hope you get to feeling better soon. Take care of yourself.
Good job Ethan. Common sense should tell you that if your GPS says go from highway to driveway it's probably wrong. Pull off and call the consignee.
Ethan, most of the fleet carriers only have an inter-axle differential, with both differentials being open. They don't have any kind of a true axle lock. With the differential unlocked it only drives one differential, locked in it drives both differentials.
Another morning with Ron Pratt and some coffee. Have a wonderful and blessed weekend. Be safe out there.
In this case, Ethan Pratt.
Thank you for another Great video. Cheers
A great start to the day. A cup of coffee and a video to watch. Great job Ethan
I'll take "People who should not be driving a tractor trailer for $200, Alex."
I'll double that bet & add another $200 to it.
I will take someone who has never sat in the drivers seat for 1000 WOW it's Daily double
Considering some of the people that I have seen Ron & Co. rescue, this guy wasn't that bad. He made one bad decision, believing his GPS, but Ethan didn't have to tell him how to back the truck up, or how to use some of the equipment on the truck. Ron pulled one driver out of the same location two days in a row.
At least he knew how much the load weighed and spoke to the tow driver. We've seen some that don't.
I have been there, done that. The thing about GPS is it will shortcut you down county roads between state routes. It’s tempting but, As a new driver you have to mess up to understand you can’t do that in a big truck
Good morning from Chicago sir…keep up the good work stay safe out there. God Bless.
It is a funny thing with these new company trucks you lock differential both Wheels should spin but they don't😮😮 the bigger question is why they don't work correctly😊😊
Always enjoyable to see you guys have a laugh when working a job
Ron U and your crew are ALWAYS safety first and you are totally fantastic: I can check the angles weights and all and you pull it all well ^^^5
GPS is good and sometimes bad. That took a few tugs to get him back on the main road and on his way. Good job Ethan!
I thought that you did a fantastic wonderful job God Bless you
With only 13k on spread out over that 53' I certainly wouldn't have had my tandems all the way back.
Power divider sends power to both axle, diff lock makes it usable. My truck has a pdl, but will only turn all drives when i give it the beans. Otherwise, itll spin the stuck tires.
i know drivers make mistakes but this one for the first 5 minutes had me saying what the....
you held your tongue alot better than i would have Ethan cause the first thing that caused him issues after the gps was those raked back tandems
Nice work looking good smooth as butter 👍✌️🥶
Very awesome rescue and recovery there.
Good morning Ron, Ethan, & crew be careful & stay safe
Hi sir How are you Good to see you ❤ Stay strong stay blessed stay safe keep smiling And God bless you ❤❤😊😊
Just looking at the road where the GPS says to go DONT GO! Call the destination and ask them how to go. To many drivers frankly are stupid when it comes to relying solely on their GPS.
He’s 65ft long COMMON SENCE would tell him to get out and walk down and see what the road looks like
One look at that “driveway “going to the right would have said NO call the receiver and ask how to get there
There’s no need to call people stupid. Everyone is new at some point.
@@jgpix1Everyone is new at some point. However, being new should not wave away common sense. Failing to understand how big you are is a problem. Failing to scout out a cramped area before committing is a problem. His tandem placement with the weight he has I can chalk up to a rookie mistake or lack of knowledge due to poor training.
Awesome video keep up with a great work and be safe out there.
Schneider has a new slogan “ SURE WISH I FINISHED TRAINING “🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Good job, he's on his way and happy.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE 👋 ☕️
As someone who uses a gps all the time. You still need to read signs and know when to say “yeeeeeeeea heck no….” And just drive till you find a legit road or call the customer for help if you’re close enough.
When will they ever learn Ron and Ethan
Another great job. Ethan that was a mess.
Good job Ron 👍
That was Ethan. Sounds like Ron.
Ethan u did a very Good job.keep safe and God bless🙏🙏
Drivers need to check more than GPS, 10 minutes checking the route in Google maps could save a $150-300 tow bill. Great job Ethan, almost needed a helper for traffic there at the end.
Ethan you did pretty good getting the truck out
Great job, Ethan.
My favorite GPS story is a European trucker who was going from Germany to Gibraltar. When he got to the Chunnel going from France to England that he checked where his GPS was telling him to go the Gibraltar Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland, about a thousand kilometers from where he really wanted to go.
There are two cities with the same name. One is about two states west of where a driver wanted to go here in the US. He actually found the address in the wrong city and was trying to figure out why he was scheduled to drop a load at a residence. If he was in the correct city it would have been a big box retailer.
Well gos may have got him there, but the fact his tandems are all the way back is not only illegal but makes every turn nearly impossible on those small roadways
Awesome job take care of yourself
I don’t depend on G.P.S because it stands for Get People Stuck. We’re seeing another example of it here.😊. Ron’s channel is the only recovery channel that I watch 😊
Back in the day when I drove truck our GPS was the truckers Atlas and our cell phone was the telephone booth on the corner of the road. To get yourself in this mess using a GPS probably for passenger cars not commercial will get you into trouble every time.
Totally agree but you also need a bit of local milage.
I love this channel❤
I look forward to your videos each and every week.
There’s a good reason school buses don’t have lights and sirens cause if they did the drivers would use them a lot :)
32:00 - Many semi trucks speced for highway running only allow you to lock the power divider, they DO NOT lock side to side like (i.e. what you are thinking of when you say "lockers"). I have a T680 and that's what I have.
I sure do!!!
It's not the GPS. It's the driver.
