- The Historic Mission Control center at the NASA Johnson Space Center has undergone a major restoration. From this legendary room America conducted some of its most historic space missions.
This time-lapse videography shows the removal and return of the original consoles which were rebuilt with historically accurate buttons, lights and displays. The carpet, wallpaper, ceiling tiles and other elements of the room were also brought back to life to reflect the Apollo era look. Furnishings and other details were added to recreate the room as it appeared during the Apollo era, preserving our nation's history of human spaceflight for future generations.

One of the most important restorations in human history. So amazing!!! The consoles are just gorgeous!!! Worth every penny!
Indeed this is thee control room the original Mission Control Houston this is where Gene "The Bulldog" Kranz commanded White Team on the night of Apollo 11 and saved Apollo 13 on those 7 days they were stranded in space. If these walls can talk they will tell you the amazing story that is Mission Control Houston.
Great to see Historical monument is being restored!
It's probably going to be missing the original cigarette smell.
cicci0salsicci0 lol
Wow! wish I could see this in person.
Can't wait to tour it July 20th!
Never forget your past Houston this is where it all began on the night of Apollo 11 and the 7 days of Apollo 13. It was here where Gene "The Bulldog" Kranz commanded his team and the White Team saw Apollo 11 land on the Moon and rescued Apollo 13. If these walls could talk they will tell the amazing story that is Mission Control Houston.
Something I'd love to go and see.
the consoles got restored here in Hutchinson where I live. They also restore the liberty bell capsule and the props for the apollo 13 movie got built here
This is a big deal, I'm surprised there's not more views on this
Very excited to take the tour when this opens up! I just listened to the HWHAP episode about the restoration.
Wow the Apollo mission control room is nicer after Renovation.
My question is do all the consoles and computers and tv projector screens functionthe way the did in the 60s?
If you mean “do all the screens still work”, yes. I went on a tour of Houston Space Center and they showed this very room. All the screens (yes, all of them) show what it looked like when Apollo 11 landed. I’m not sure if they function the same but they still work.
@@Keru-5829 thats cool, i would love to visit mission control one day..
Lovely!
That's nice. How many times did they rip up and replace the floor ??
Amazing Renovation 😁👍 Godspeed Sincerely from LarryWhittington
That made me feel oddly satisfied
all they did was the floor? and it took ages all done by hand
Is this operational or just decoration? So cool 😎 to see it some day. I was 9 when The Eagle 🦅 landed.
I'd also like to know that.
From what I understand, this particular room was used for the Gemini, Apollo, Apollo-Soyuz, and Space Shuttle missions, spanning a timeframe from the 1960s up until around 1992. Then it was no longer used and fell into disrepair. There was a movement spearheaded by retired flight director Gene Kranz to get it restored in time for the 50th anniversary. So what you are seeing is a time capsule, utilizing many of the original consoles and equipment, restored to how they looked in 1969. It is just an exhibit, it is not actually controlling any current spaceflight.
I am the one who watched it in 30seconds of upload
Awesome.
excuse me, but where is the American Flag that was in the right front near the door!!!!!
