I'm sure they're busy people - you can't do anything ad lib because you'll mess up (they're NASA, not actors) and need to shoot a continuous 7 minute shot AGAIN, so short, simple answers make more sense.
They´re engineers... they´re special people you might scare them if rush in with a camera.... If you ever meet an engineer stay calm its way more affraid of you than you are and always keep some coffe and/or energy drinks at hand it calms them.
This is what I keep finding again and again as I grow up. Everything epic in this world is amazingly average and I'm okay with that, it shows me that things in this world are made and designed by people like me. All that's needed to make a good idea go from and idea to a design is willpower. Either way, great video, glad to get a view into Mission Control, Houston.
That was an amazing treat for me today. I would have asked every one of those same questions as well. I must admit, I love seeing women in these roles and I hope vignettes like these inspires more young women into nontraditional careers on or above the planet. Thanks again. 👽👽👽👽👽
"hurrr durrr is fake obvious scriptin" wow you youtube commenters are geniuses for decipherig that, have a big fat gold award for figuring that out. In all honesty this was a nice quick segment of an interview. Nerds being awkward is my crack, cheers for this. Keep up the good work being awesome in outer space... Or in earth as shown here.
This was awesome and very informative! I want to work there! I've been to that room when I was a kid and lived in Texas! Also very impressive that is one long take! I love how young everyone is. Great video! Is this the very same room that Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions were controlled from?
This is so incredibly fascinating. I feel like a kid again! If I had the 'job requirements' for NASA, it would be my dream employer. The amount of knowledge, education and man hours sitting in that room is so incredible.
I keep looking for someone to say Mary looks like Jenna Fischer (Pam from "The Office")... but alas I guess I will have to be the first person to say it here. Haha. I really enjoyed the video. I don't think anyone looked awkward and I liked the format.
Oh my god! It took me a few minutes to recognize that voice. It's the Curiosity Core from Glados! I'm so glad that little ball of curiosity wasn't burned in the fire! Maybe it is at NASA because it want's to go to space and find its brother, the Space Core!
Great tour! But was the automated captioning software written in Ireland? 6:43 "It could be the O'Ryan missions; EM1 and EM2 are flown from here." (The O'Ryan family must be so proud to have a spacecraft named after them.) 7:01 ">> Commander Scott Kelley was on orbit" Now, this will have someone's Irish up. It's "Kelly", not "Kelley". Those Irish captioning software writers should know better!
Having to know a lot of acronyms was really more of a 20th Century problem-and yes, in earlier times it did cause me some anxiety at times. Now, you can look up most anything in a few seconds. Now, I use enough of them to be a real PITA.
EHM.......US GLORY UD GREAT....HOUATON EQ EIN PLAY AIRLINE COMMANDER WITH HIGH TECHNOLOGI LIKE DENVER HIGH TECH.......STILL GLORY & STILL GREAT TRI FAMILY TRI RELIGIUN SAVE IR PEOPLE UR STATE & UR RELIGIUN AIT 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂FIMWU
Really nice to see this room from another perspective other than live feed on NASA TV camera in the corner. And sometimes they put awkward stuff on the front left table such as baseball bat to Halloween pumpkin if you noticed :'D
I wish "Failure is not an option" was applied during the Columbia STS-107 Mission. Linda Ham rejected requests for additional surveillance 8 times (Source: CAIB Report).
They used to be big consoles because they housed CRT screens. These days we use banks of LCD monitors. I have to admit I do miss the big consoles. We used to be able to put stuff on them! :-)
Just Bev Yes. Still do. I work at NASA for CSA (Canadian Space Agency) as a Robotics (ROBO) flight controller. We have a control room at CSA HQ where I’m now stationed.
Master Man All procedures are electronic but we still use hard copies. And they are located behind our console at CSA. Usually that’s where they end up. This video is the White FCR. It used to be for shuttles. The main ISS room is FCR1. White FCR is used for simulations right now (practice sessions).
Could you please talk more about less?? There is probably about 2 hours worth of content that could be covered, instead you spend about 8 minutes talking about almost nothing.
about NASA? totally! but on the other hand, I would much prefer 6 20 minute videos to this, besause they actually have time to get into the details of what actually happens at mission control.
It's to soft, you gotta show your willing to be on a spaceship with a animal, you got to eat, talk about the space chef, ah got none? Canned food for all space flights? Number one priority is good food, you gotta learn from peach 🍑
just a tip: the video seems a little fake as everyone just gives a straight answer. alle the questions and answers seem to be just read off. would be more realistic if they said a some "umm" "err" or sth like that. Or for the next time. Dont let them prepare that much
How to become a capsue communicator or a ground controler ? Id really like to know all the professions in the room control and how long it take to do this profession plz. I really hope you'll answer me.
I'm learning english as a second language. Can some native say whether "there's 26" or "there's five"... are correct? I thought it would be "there are"... The woman in charge of answering the questions said those.
Very interesting video controlling the mission .everything is very clear. Space scientists have a deep knowledge of living and to maintain in space circumstances .Astronauts adjust themselves in very limited means. They eat, walk and run in space. Some medicine they have to take care from diseases.
Heh it`s funny to see the awkwardness of really smart people trying to reach the general public and make a "pop" vlog
micosair I came here from 9gag
actually so true lol
micosair The best they can
She's not smart. Smart people use metric system, and non retarded units like miles.
you tell 'em Daniel.
I was waiting for a ground control to major tom joke
haha same here
yeah major disappointment for me
so was i, lol.
I liked that it was scripted. Obviously not Hollywood tier acting, but the flow was nice. Otherwise, it'd be a boring video imo.
The anaswers seemed very scripted to me too. And when Greenwich time was refered to intead of UTC I switched off
Support Room: "Here, we see people playing Call of Duty."
Call of duty is for kids.
This reminds me of those Vogue Questions videos they do with celebrities except this is actually interesting lol
5:40 what a woman!
_shifty Very hot. And very clever.
"Yes of course"
nice Video. I didn't like that everything felt so Scripted.
leogrievous agreed

It’s not scripted they’re just too smart
This is great. so many questions answered! very well prepared. thank you
Too bad so many could have been answered with Google. So many good questions wasted.
i think this clip is awsome , but the narrative can do the question less like a robotics. All to the great answers
gene kranz would be proud

3:20 hey, no!

give to their guys an oscar!
She truly stepped into the footsteps of Gene Kranz :)

- Do flight controllers know multiple languages?
- [Russian] Да, конечно!
UUUHH :-) Buuuuut, why in subtitles don't mentioned that?
Love these kind of videos!!
"da konechno" (да конечно) means "Yes Of course" - many languages... that is why it is international
THAT MAN IS PLAYING GALAGA!!! Thought we wouldn't notice, but we did...
Crazy!!! Id' like to go to mission control one day in my life.
Always really like these videos. Keep up the good work :D
I've never been a navy swimmers sorry sometimes it's good to learn
I care about your body so much it's incredible 🤠
yes, yes, yes!! I simply love this video. Thank you very much!!!!!
3:20
NO DON'T TOUCH THAT
yeah, visitors is not allowed to touch for authorised only xD
I keep looking for someone to say Mary looks like Jenna Fischer (Pam from "The Office")... but alas I guess I will have to be the first person to say it here. Haha.
I really enjoyed the video. I don't think anyone looked awkward and I liked the format.
This reminds me of one of those "72 questions with (blank)" video.
I think the akwardness of everyone is very charming. Still, very engaging and informative video. Good stuff, mate.
Oh my god! It took me a few minutes to recognize that voice. It's the Curiosity Core from Glados! I'm so glad that little ball of curiosity wasn't burned in the fire! Maybe it is at NASA because it want's to go to space and find its brother, the Space Core!
Mrs.Mary thank goodness for your team of colleges I always say this is very
Clever ingenious 😊👍🌎💫👀
Why blur her id card?
For security reasons, so no one can try to duplicate it.
what degree would you need to work in that room on one of them there computerized gadgets?
Microsoft Office Professional
BDSM , MBBS,CBR,KTM,MP3
It is a funny thought to know someone is sitting in mission control right at this second I type this comment
When are you going to come clean about UFO's?
Also I have seen multiple UFO's some in daylight, they exist believe it or not, living in ignorance does not change the facts.
Da koneshno

It's 'Orion', not O'Ryan
Ray,
You know that. And I know that. But the Irish programmers who wrote the speech-to-text software in Dublin didn't. (Or they don't care.) :-)

I'm sure everything said is pre-scripted, even the part at 3:19. IAC handled with remarkable smoothness.
Sounds like a damn interrogation. Feels so unnatural.
She forget to ask pay grades
for the couple who is stuck in space, the answer for there safely return is this. Failure is not a option.
Wait a minute.... These are just normal desks, computers, and projectors! Hollywood movies lied to us this whole time!
@@kbahrami346 I remember old consoles (pre-modernization) having lots of documentation stacks on the back. Where is that now? All digital or...?
Master Man All procedures are electronic but we still use hard copies. And they are located behind our console at CSA. Usually that’s where they end up. This video is the White FCR. It used to be for shuttles. The main ISS room is FCR1. White FCR is used for simulations right now (practice sessions).
Don't use scripts and don't try to bee comedians, that part was awkward. Everything else was interesting and worth watching. :-)
Really amazing vid to see what its like in MC but the bad acting makes me giggle a bit XD
Sugar Water is great, right? "Yah yah yah yah" --Werner Von Braun [, former NASA Coffee Maker]
🤣
🏄♀️🇮🇳🏄♀️Beautiful Place. Can i some day see this place. I am 60+ from India 🇮🇳.
that was a cool but very awkward interview haha. Great questions though
who put up that dry wall? why was this not included.. I wanted to know more
GREAT PHONE SAMAUNG A3 ORIINAL US PLAY AIRLINE COMMANDER UA GLORY US GREAT STILL BE HAPPY ZERO CONFLIX......
I felt the reporter was firing too many questions without having much dialogue in between was difficult to listen to that for me.
both of them need media training...
houston i need help putin huking me..................
“Sir Isaac Newton does”
Informative but not conversational enough for me. Sounds too scripted and rehearsed.
Feels like a school project, very awkward
Why do you have your free stuff storage camouflaged as vending machines?
im going to be a flight director after high school
Sounds like I'm talking with Oblivion NPC's
The way she was asking a question is annoying, she needs lessons in presenting. The same over and over.
I love this video that 7:40 minutes were like 2:00 or even less
Doses mission control over see when sex is performed when and by whom.
Ha! That girl is playing Galaga!
This is the most scripted video I have ever seen. 😂
man they are socially awkward af
They're engineers
0:11 is that one of those two handled sippy cups? 🤔🧐🛸
Is that a Braun coffee maker, and it's not secure? 🤣
THE GREAT PLACE US GLORY CAPT CRISTOPHER CASSIDY US NAVY
She definitely doesn't have time for you lol..
Could you please talk more about less?? There is probably about 2 hours worth of content that could be covered, instead you spend about 8 minutes talking about almost nothing.
So would you watch a two hour video?
Probably not. This format is great.
about NASA? totally! but on the other hand, I would much prefer 6 20 minute videos to this, besause they actually have time to get into the details of what actually happens at mission control.
I HOPE EQ EIN AROUND IN WORLD TO SAVE HUMANISME AIT
I don't know but I have a high dislike for the style this was shot. Makes them look dumb.
oh,what does this button do? XD
The mission control people have that look like “What the F..... oh, today’s that video blog thing they emailed us about....”
This has to be the coolest job ever
It's to soft, you gotta show your willing to be on a spaceship with a animal, you got to eat, talk about the space chef, ah got none? Canned food for all space flights? Number one priority is good food, you gotta learn from peach 🍑
You can tell this scripted

This video is fun, yet extremely awkward to watch. Geeky doesn't describe this. This in mega-geeky.
How to become a capsue communicator or a ground controler ? Id really like to know all the professions in the room control and how long it take to do this profession plz. I really hope you'll answer me.
@ 03:59 lol this literally happened on Friday. The new Russia module fired it's thrusters and the ISS did a barrel roll!
I'm learning english as a second language. Can some native say whether "there's 26" or "there's five"... are correct? I thought it would be "there are"... The woman in charge of answering the questions said those.
@ieBrazil "there are" is grammatically correct. "there's" is frequently said as a type of slang
@@edvancise got it. Thanks
This video was very 'mechanical'
Only the guy at ADCO felt a little natural.
Nice video tho.
This was way too rehearsed.
They just have to be sisters
idk why but is cringe
Dad was a contractor at Johnson for a couple of years. Can confirm, this is exactly how conversations happen
6:07 sth that spin at left upper corner in the control moniter brings up the attention.... seem a great project these talented ppl work for
Who was the interviewer?
At times the station get up to 17,800mph 280 miles up ionosphere 🌎💫🚀😊👍
great presentation
Mary is a rocket!
