I'm honestly really happy that they've essentially stuck to their design philosophy from the first game. I totally understand there were systems and such that served as barriers for some folks, and I can see why, but its those same barriers that trapped me in the game once I started meeting it where it asked me to. KCD1 gave me a similar vibe as something like Morrowind where it's a heavily manual game with some jank that doesn't really hold your hand at all. Sometimes even to the detriment of your enjoyment. Lord knows I lost my mind a few times when getting ganked by a couple of peasants with long sticks. But holy shit, once you really start understanding the systems, you can lose yourself in the world and spend upwards of 100 hours just immersing yourself in the journey from peasant to warrior. So to hear that KCD2 is just KCD1 but more refined and polished? That's pretty much rocketing this game high on my GOTY 2025 list, and so early in the year too. Also side note, really happy they've given reviewers an entire month to review this one, plus letting them run previews.
What bothered me about the first one is that it was TOO realistic. IMO, a video game has to find the sweet spot between absolute realism and, well, fun. I don't want my games to feel like a part time job (that I'm paying to play.) Micromanaging the minutia of life like bathing, getting dressed, eating meals, sleeping, etc gets old really fast.
That depends on what it is trying to do. Games can do whatever they want really, and there's nothing wrong with trying to create a game that prioritizes simulation and whatever comes with that. But I do agree that it should be reasonable to control.
Yeah I played the 1st one to DEATH. I want a "hard" rpg and this ticks every box for me. Pre ordered this? Which I don't normally do but that dev team have my trust

i really like your content. i been watching for years. one of my fave youtubers but this video has pissed me off. You put big parts of the game in your video's stuff people myself included have waited for since the 1st game meaning cutscene's. You did this with ff7 rebirth and so many other games stop putting so much in ffs. just show gameplay. not cutscenes and stop talking about major plot point's, This is the reason you get so much hate on alot of things. Also i'm glad surgery went well just a shame you had to grate me with this video. Please do better on future reviews or wait a few days before you post your reviews

That's the thing. This game isnt abiut rushing into the mext thing and the next thing. This game was built for gamers who love to take their time and really dig into ecery aspect of things offered. Much like RDR 2, it's designed to take your time
It looks an interesting game but the hunger loop stuff - I really can't be bothered to spend hours just sharpening and forging, so I'll be giving it a miss. I must be a crap player lol, I play to enjoy and relax and this sounds nothing like what I would want to do. The more realistic they make games, the more I dont want to play them, I have to do eating and sleeping in real life and cleaning kit etc.. For those who are jobless and living in mom's basement though - knock yourselves out, this will give you an idea of real life is like by the sounds of it lol
