This is how the movie Mad max will start... sooner or later we will be fighting for water
Even if we boycott almonds, someone else is buying them. Greed for water is gonna mess things up for so many people. The farmers will be just fine though.
Hate to tell ya, but the Central Valley is NOT Northern California.
Wish the narrator was a native English speaker. So many mispronunciations.
Half of it is
Takes a lot of water to make a hamburger or even an almond I guess
I find it amazing that a vegan who will eschew honey and decry the water cost of dairy will happily consume almond products that are dependent on the systematic abuse of honey bees, and way more costly to the environment than dairy cows. If they want to call themselves WOKE then they need to educate themselves!
Agreed. Vegan and almond - free. 30 years vegan.♡
That explain why we get so much forest fire.... Because we using most of the water on almonds. What people fail to understand is, once you use water to grow almond THE WATER IT USED does not go back to the ecosystem.
aznpanda510x you say after the water is used to irrigate almonds it’s out of the ecosystem. Where does it go?

We boycott almonds. Being the biggest/richest in the world doesn't spell success to people anymore, but rather it spells weak and spiritual handicap. The world does not respect your selfishness
We could just encourage these almond farmers to move east.
And today they are tareing up thousands of acres of those trees because they have no 💧

this should not be issue. one california borders ocean. if build or dig small pond fill with ocean water then put plastic tarp over pond at angle. desert sun will cause evaporate hite plastic tarp and slide into separate pond or tank, as fresh water. because hot in dessert. doesn't cost anything like would if washington state would do this to water apple trees.

All food meat or vegetable Or stone fruit or anything else takes a lot of water to grow but it Supports lots of life with its production good water management from the very beginning would’ve taken care of this problem the state and local governments are to blame for that 🤷♂️

Why not try to grow almonds in other areas? Has anyone tried this?
Growing almonds in other states would be very risky. The reason almonds are mostly grown in California is because the perfect conditions the weather is just right and the soil is amazing. A fully mature almond tree takes 1.1 gallons of water per week to make the tree happy. The reason I know these things is because I'm a PCA if you don't know what that is I'm basically a plant doctor who helps out farmers
+Carl Bolderoff has anyone ever tried it?
they grow 80% of the world's
supply - obviously that's the best climate

San Joaquin valley needs to stop growing almonds, and start growing jojoba plants. Make money off of a native plant who's seeds you can turn into oil.
We need to plant more trees to help turn back climate change.
