It's probably not as serious of an allergy as a nut allergy but still, at least send someone not allergic to the subject matter.

It pisses me off to see what cartels did to my country. Tomato farmers in my home state of Sinaloa are extorted daily. People say that decriminalization of drugs would end it, but it’d just lead cartels to pick on us folks who work in agriculture, oil and gas, etc.
The next time you have an Avocado, appreciate the pain that brought it to you.

I imagine he has oral allergy syndrome or latex fruit syndrome. Most people could go their entire lives continuing to be occasionally exposed to mucus membrane contact and still have mild reactions. I remember throughout childhood thinking that Bananas were spicy and was very rarely in the mood for that. In adulthood, I realized that tingling mouth reaction is an allergy and I should stop pushing my luck (in rare occasions it can progress into anaphylaxis). For someone with a pollen allergy like me, eating an uncooked food I'm allergic to is similar to someone who is lactose intolerant eating some dairy ice cream. Not the same, because I have a very low but still present risk of ending up in the hospital, but my normal reaction is less intense than someone eating a food they cannot digest.
Not all allergies are the same. The more we study, the more we realize that what individuals in the past would consider a food not agreeing with someone is often a diagnosable condition. One that gives people the impression that people are just allergic to everything these days (many people have an intolerance not an allergy) and wonder what happened to cause this (forgetting that severe enough conditions could cause babies to die with no clear case of death in the past).
These people are amazing, I wish there were a way for me to know the avocados I buy are supporting these people, and not the cartels.
My mom is from Michoacán, clips like this motivate me to push forward 🥺
I'm sure you are are very good person, when I see the people where I'm from (Belgium) the majority are a bunch of zombies and they are programed from a young age to be sociopath. And a lot of people also love to live in fear fo no reason it's pure insanity.. I don't know how hard it is for you and your family but just being in Mexico is a blessing :)

If you're hesitant to buy an avocado after seeing this, you're doing it wrong. Rather buy more avocados. At least this isn't an illegal drug. Make those farmers richer. Then they will be able to better protect themselves and their families by buying better equipment. And remember their hard work.

He wanted to drum up a sob story about how the avocado farmers don't even get to eat the product that they produce. The farmer's matter of fact answer messed up the chance for this angle.
My cousin was the owner of one of the largest distributors of avocados in Michoacan. He was kidnaped, lost for four days, murdered and then had his mutilated body dumped on the side of the road on November 4, few days after the mexican national holiday, day of the dead. He was a great person and an amazing father to his three young children.
Because of this video I can better understand what happened. Thank you Vice.

I live in Norway and I have recently discovered the avocado. It is an amazing fruit that has helped me get healthier and fight my Type 2 diabetes. Hopefully Mexico can find a way to rid themselves of the cartels! God bless Mexico and the avocado! 🇲🇽🥑

@@5ithofnov159 he didn’t seem so incredibly skilled that it would cancel out any benefit of being able to speak Spanish. There are many professional journalists who can speak both Spanish and English. I also know from experience if you don’t understand the cultural nuances or the language itself it’s very difficult to steer the conversation in the best direction especially with people who are inexperienced with being on camera.
Cause you don't need to speak the language to be a reporter. I find it people always complaining about this yet when people come to the US from these various countries you all get mad when other say they should learn English. Just let the reporter do them and not worry what they speak

I have lived and vacationed in Mexico for over 35 yrs. Now when I go to all inclusive resorts there is no gaucamole offered. It was always my favorite thing at the buffet.

I spent a week in Uruapan, MICH last May and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about all the people I met there. So many of them told me they were just trying to make an honest living and they were all genuinely good people. Cartel just comes through and fucks everything up.

My whole family have hectáreas de huertas de aguacate en Michoacán. They’re always in danger. Crooks have wanted to get one over my grandpa and uncles, but they always have to handle it with pushing back. Those people never sleep and are stubborn as heck. Poor people getting a living means more money for them if they can get away with it.

My family has a farm of avocados and corn in Mexico. This is one of my fears when it comes to the things they may be facing. Their land is in another Mexican state but nonetheless, I’m sure the threat is very similar.

Which Mexican state? The threat would vary dramatically from state to state. Central Mexico would be more dangerous for this kind of thing.
I have very poor health i can only eat fruit and avacados and corn are so delicious. I love deliciousness because I cook for rich ppl they love my food. 😂 I found cilantro in the moutians and my friends laughed at me but this is who I am. Lol.

My wife was allergic to avocados. I made a guacamole with considerably more tomatoes to neutralize the avocado potency and now she can enjoy the avocados.

You know things are in a bad way when a small army is required to protect avocado growers from the mob.
As a Chicano (Mexican-American) I love the light this has brought onto beautiful Mexico and the hardships people go through on a daily just to provide for their families. Opportunities are scarce but those who seek shall find a way.
I like that they are armed & defending themselves.
The right to bear arms is an important thing.
It’s a shame that Mexican local, state & federal governments aren’t strong enough to keep its people safe.
I grew up in a city that was once an avocado orchard so everyone or their neighbors had a huge tree in their backyard. Whatever didn't get eaten or given away for free, had filled compost bins. I really miss that place every time I see overpriced avo. 😐

Those groups are known as "autodefensas". The idea and kind of translation of the name is "self defense group"
Sadly the autodefensa change to bandids not so rarely. Power corrupts. Best is when families are invested like here in peaceful income through labor so they can pay the security forces good and inspire loyalty. Pure autodefensa often turn ro crime
