Hey Trevor and Anna. Congratulations! I started following you both about 1 year before my wife and I moved here from Toronto, and that was in 2021. Yes, time flies. My wife and I are 58 and I also hate the cold lol. My/our plan is to go somewhere south for a few months at a time, starting in February. DR looks great. Wow! Big step. I just found you two after returning from three weeks in the DR in Cabarete and Las Terrenas. I had a great time while I was there. I'm already thinking about returning. I'm recently retired and could enjoy an extended stay. Keep up the great work on the videos!

It definitely is more expensive here but there is so much beauty as well. I can walk my dog to Lakes etc. I did move here with6 cats and a dog. Yes, I am insane at times lol. I’m Sitting outside on my deck enjoying the beautiful and hot weather. Like yourselves, I despise the winter but alas I must stay put, but I can totally relate about winter. I appreciate wanting to get away for a few months of the year, I have a dream of living in Barbados a few months of the year. I'm thankful that I still find the Winter magical in some respects. I intentionally visit friends in the Rockies every Winter for a few weeks to get my cosy snowy fix. It sounds like you two might decide to give up residency, which is a bit easier when you're a digital nomad of sorts. Good luck with it all!
Halifax was my home for the first 21 (or so) years of my life, and even though it's my home, I've never really looked back. I never owned any property there, so the only ties I still have are related to the family and friends that are still there. At this point, Anja and I have lived in 8 countries together, and have now reached the point where we've traveled to over 50 countries together. The honest truth is that I know I could never really be "happy" if I were to live there. It now just feels so small. It's also just so hard to travel from there (especially cheaply). As much as I love to visit - that part of my life is over. Making such a change like this is tough, but the freedom that goes along with it is incredible. Good luck with your new life guys. Maybe we'll see you on the road somewhere! 🍻

10yrs ago we sold our house in California fully furnished including all Christmas decor! and moved to Europe with 8 suitcases! its a great feeling but its a super weird feeling

Don’t blame the decision at all. We used to live in Halifax, we lived in Cayman for a bit, our home base is in New Brunswick but the cost of living and growth in Halifax is not our cup of tea.
Did you sell your tiny house in CB? I must have missed that video. I love Halifax. Lived there for about 5 years when I was younger. I never liked the winners but love Halifax. I am from Cape Breton! Love it there.... now living in BC.
As a fellow Canadian here also what do you do about health insurance as to still be able to access it I believe you can only be out of Canada for 6 months. Happy travels
Moved to halifax in 95...best desision...great rents..vibrant alive city! ..now in 2024? ..depressing over priced rents tents on the main areas..until rent control will get worse...i mean if your cell bell is 100$ and the next month is 260? ...if your electricity is 100 a month..but next month 215?? ... why can land lords in halifax do that??? ...u literally need a licence for a hot dog stand in halofax..but landlords no rules....yes since covid things have gone up...but not 200%!! ...its greed...and its people like me who will eventually be homeless..the extreme poor are ok with thier life and get government help...the rirltch arent bothered they can pay...its me...middle income ...too much money to get help ..but not enuf to barley stay afloat...do better halifax halifax
