  • Ultraviolette has just launched the next iteration of the F77 - the Mach 2 which now comes with slightly more power and torque, 10 levels of regen and 4 levels of Traction Control, new paint schemes and a cheaper price tag of Rs.4L for the Recon Variant. How much has the regen helped in improving the range and riding experience to pitch the F77 as a more tempting option, Sarge hops on to find out.

F77 is still a good proof of how good Indian two wheeler engineering has gotten over the recent years. Especially in the EVs, I can see that India is truly a force to be reckoned with.

Ultraviolette Mach 2 owner here - It was raining wild in Hyderabad continuously over the weekend and it was a sunday.
I put on my helmet my protective gloves and a good show.
Went on the NH44 towards Kurnool. At first i was scared cuz i never ride fast in a heavy rain.
Istg when i did, F77 at regen 9 and rain traction mode, made me feel safer i touched top speed twice and went back hom happily.

sagar feels the f77 is a good product. But how are they going to grow if the market for such a product is so niche right now? and without the numbers, isnt it just going to be difficult for the company to stay in business?

I was in a state of mind where I just saw the side of 'Automotive Journalism' where you get to ride cool stuff and etc, but when I am now trying to write, create videos I see the work you put in making the content that is so much more appreciable. Am ok with me amount they asking for.But some of the basic functions Missing here like
    1. Cruise control
    2. Front mudgaud cover ?
    3. Charging with boost charger you need to carry that 8 kg of charger were ever you go.
    4. Tyres they given track specific not road specific ( indian road) for me quite a village side most of the time wheel spin is there if am miscalculated my throttle 😮.
    5. The speed limitations like
    Glide - Maintain 40km speed
    Combat - Maintain 52km speed
    Balastic - Maintain 60km speed
Is not acceptable for the bike weight as well as sporty nature to extract max range oit of it 🤷.
As a Mach 2 recon owner i would suggest in Glide 60,Combat 70 and Balastic 90 would be sweet spot for the vehicle.
6.Due to sporty driving posture wrist pain is there during long rides.Handlebar raiser may be recommended for needy riders.
Hope they may address the customer feedback and upgrade in feature

It's insane how no one understands Regen at all. Regen can't kick in as long as throttle is active, you have to leave the throttle. A motor can either convert Electrical Energy into mechanical (Drive mode) or convert latent Mechanical Energy into Electrical Energy (Regen mode). So as long motor is generating mechanical energy, it can't regenerate, it's impossible.
So no, Ultraviolette can't calibrate Regen to be active before throttle is 0. If throttle isn't 0, Motor is still in drive state.
Also Regen doesn't add any grip. It just converts Energy. If regen is off, Vehicle will continue to coast like it happens with super refined engines. If regen is active, Vehicle slows down depending on how strong regen is

EVs for performance bikes or cars is stupid imo. Always worried about range, no way to recharge anywhere and can be fuelled (recharged) as fast as a ICE vehicle nor characteristic of different engine configurati9ns.
EVs are good for public transport but i dont see the idea od them for personal use. If one uses a ev scooter or car, have to remember to charge it every single day and if you forget cos you had a long tiring day, next day starts off with tension. None of thos3 issues with ICE bikes or cars.
Just my opinion. If you disagree, thats fine. But dont reply to start a comments war.
