So part of a forecast might go something like "Dogger. 1021. Rising slowly". The joke here comes from the fact that in British English 'dogger' also refers to someone who engages in the practice of clandestine public sex in their car in the view of strangers, who come to watch for their own gratification. Hence him saying "Dogger. Car park. My penis. Rising slowly."

“Hoover” is a brand name and actually has nothing to do with the product type. A British company named Pneumatic make the Henry. It’s similar to saying “Google it” even when people may not even be actually using Google to research something. Both are names of a product or company that have become synonymous with the product of service they are providing. It’s really interesting actually.
@@rachelBrady-ni I prefer the Roman way. “Britain” comes from the Latin word “Britannia” which is what the island used to be called, therefore you can consider it an historical reference. Look up the song “Rule, Britannia” and you’ll see what I mean. Thank you.
Frankie Boyle was a force on this show - there's a compilation or several of his Scenes We'd Like To See which I'd highly recommend reacting to, they're brutally funny.

Hi- I'm new to the channel. The British game shows brought me here. I am from Michigan and also started watching these shows. Mock the Week is one of the few I'd recommend these compilations rather than watch the full shows. The first part is topical, local jokes. The show has been around for 20 series. So you will hear jabs at politicians and topics long gone. Easy for the jokes to go over your head. There are different formats out there. This one is a compilation of one segment. Others are per comedian. There is one over a half hour long of just Ed Byrne. Yes, that is Stewart Francis, also is a repeat guest. Wait until you first run across Milton Jones. I think you will like him.
Frankie was an original on the show and did the first seven series of the show before getting kicked off as too offensive. (There used to be two regulars and a guest on each side. Now its just Dara and Hugh.) Frankie got banned from the BBC for a while but got back on around the Scottish Referendum when they needed Scottish comedians. Most of the "too hot for TV" special episodes are mostly Frankie. You picked one of the "best bits" specials instead. There's basically three types of doctors call on the NHS. There's a regular appointment that takes a week. (checkup or sore hip) There's an emergency appointment that can be the same or next day. (You're ill.) Then there's a home visit if you can't make it to the doctor, and he judges if you need to go to the hospital. (You're bedridden) There's no fee, they get paid an agreed rate by the NHS per person seen. (some have contracts stating they don't do home visits.) In Scotland there's no prescription charges. Your medication is free. (Again covered by the NHS through money provided by the Scottish government.) An example would be, I fell on Sunday, went to casualty and got stitches. I called on the Monday to arrange and get my stitches out on the following Monday at a local health centre at their treatment room. When I cleaned the wound on Tuesday it looked iffy, I phoned an appointment and got a doctor to call me back same day. I sent him a picture of the wound. I got prescribed antibiotics, my sister picked up the prescription for me same day. All with minimum fuss and no cost to me, other than my taxes that I'm already paying. I've been told the bill in the states would be massive. A&E is our casualty department in the local hospital, you would call it an ER. (Again all costs covered by the NHS) Accident and Emergency and Emergency Room. Wards in a British hospital are lettered. i.e. ward N South, Ward G, etc. and usually correspond to the floor of the building they are on. (Our taxes covers the NHS funding.) B&Q is our version of Home Depot.

Mock the week has a permanent host (Dara O'Brien) and a number of recurring panellists -Frankie was in the early series. The only panellist to be in all the series is Hugh Dennis (suited gent, middle of right hand side). The main part of the show is about UK political news and major events. The scenes we'd like to see is the light relief segment. It's 3 mins per topic and is given 2 themes. There is also the random topic wheel where X comedians have to do a short routine based on a random theme. E.g. Transport.
That guy at 20:20 is Stewart Francis; a Canadian guy who is the GOAT of one-liners. The Irish guy with the hair and glasses is Ed Byrne. ✌from Australia
06:47 Honestly not the most distressing thing I've heared recently since the EOD squads had to be called to Gloucester hospital (UK) after doctors removed WW2 era ordinance from a guy's rear end.
Whereas Whose Line is pretty much all about the stage performance, most of Mock the Week is in a news quiz format similar to Have I Got News For You but with even less concern for the correct answers, as long as they can pile on the jokes.
The wait for me to get a filling done on the NHS took a year and half, and by the time they saw me the damage was so bad they had to take out it, which was another 3 month wait
Doctors waiting times for an appointment depends where you live. I live in Windermere in the Lake District and I get an appointment same day or even same hour.
Whose Line Is It Anyway was indeed a UK invention. But ironically, it was still Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles that made the UK show a hit, same as for the US version (both were directed by a Brit, Dan Patterson).
You thought the mole joke was funny, this happened about 1 week ago. A bomb squad was called out to a hospital after an A&E patient needed help getting a World War Two artillery shell out of his rectum. The unnamed man told Gloucestershire Royal Hospital he ‘slipped and fell’ on the 57mm piece of weaponry on Wednesday. The shell had been apparently lying on the floor while the patient was clearing out his collection of military memorabilia.
Frankie Boyle was always left-wing, he just has a show now where he talks openly about politics. His jokes were always shocking and still are, but I think they're even more brutal now content wise. He's obviously not PC. I guess you could call some of his stances "woke", but if you just disagree and that's why you can't laugh at his jokes that are still just as hilarious and brutal, I think you're the snowflake :P
Seems fair. I think he's an insufferable hypocrite these days but I still think he's funny. Good thing comedians aren't supposed to be role models or thought leaders lol.
@@ETRTriad Like who? Not being funny but I'm curious which comedians Boyle has wrote for. I can think of no one offhand, obviously his stuff is his own (Tramadol Nights etc) and I know Mock the Week was a concerted effort by the whole team... but what stand-up would perform someone else's material? Especially in this day and age, where a comic onstage always shares parts of themselves... Good and bad, to an audience, rants about their personal woes, hatreds, annoyances.. a totally unique personality is at the helm, the audience has to be made to react to them and won over.... Yesteryears 'This man walked into a bar' shit a la Tarby now there's material that could be written by anyone and uttered to a captive audience... it has none of the clout of the former.
When British people say a doctor they normally mean a GP or family medical practitioners in the US. Yes you can wait a while for an appointment, but if it's an emergency it's normally possible to see one that day. I had to see a doctor the other day, phoned up and booked an appointment for that very day, but simple things you can wait a while. It all comes down to priorities, like do you have a just cough compared to, are you coughing up blood. The other thing you have to realise is that in the UK we go to the doctor if we do not feel right, preventive care. Preventive care is when someone integrates healthy behaviors into their lifestyle, they are practicing preventive care. This type of care takes place before any signs or symptoms of a condition or disease have been detected. So Doctor can get booked up a lot. Whereas in the States it's more likely you only go when you really need to, so reactive care, but by that time it could already be to late. In the UK we don't go to a hospital unless it's really bad, then you go to A&E (accident and emergency), where you will be seen in an hour or two, again down to priorities, as you maybe que jumped by someone that's been in a car crash.
This is only one round of the show. A lot of the time they are sitting down giving satricial or silly answers to the week's news, thus "mocking the week". There is also a stand-up challenge round, where a comedian from each side is given time to tell their best jokes on a topic.
‘Mock the Week’ is a comedy panel show featuring different comedians or celebrities each episode. Frankie Boyle was a regular for many seasons - and that was earlier on in his career At its peak it was a very good, funny and popular series
since you asked, the jeremy kyle show is where couples go on to hash out their relationship issue on TV, you have similar shows in the US but i forget the name of the hosts. You probably dont need to know more than that and would be hilarious to see you react to any jeremy kyle clips!

There is no better fun than watching your reaction vids and laughing All The Way Through 😂👍
I miss mock the week 😂😂 honestly British comedy panels got me through uni!
This is hilarious! My husband came in to see if I was OK because I was laughing so much 😂😂 Love you guys 😀👍👍
A&E is the British version of an ER
B&Q is the name of a chain of hardware stores
'20:26', wait this is an American comedian',
Stewart Francis, Canadian comedian born in 1959 in Toronto, Canada.
🤣🤣
Over in the UK we got many programs you'd be surprised, hill street blues, taxi, we even got, wishing on a star. Alf, lost in space lillte house on... the Walton, texas ranger, Canadian mounty, jag. Miami vice, kojac, macgyver. My personal fav moonlighting.
I would never want to play high stakes poker against Hugh (dude in a suit). His poker face is so good.
I remember the British 'Whose Line is it Anyway'. Loved it growing up.
hugh dennis is a legend wait until you hear his voiceover from mock the week on prince phillip haha the section of the show is called `newsreel` AMAZING!!!
He was also in the latest James Bond movie as the 'soup scientist'. He kept it all a secret from everyone so there was a huge chunk of the next show after the movie's release all about his role in the film.
@@KathleenMc73 i would not have known about that as i dont watch any bonds but thanks for that =) he was also in a brilliant comedy called outnumbered years ago the kids were funny also in that
Had a long and rough day, this made it better, thankyou both
Frankie Boyle still has the best joke for the exam questions one "Spell mississippi without looking at how we spelt mississippi"
That is Stewart Francis
I never even thought to recommend this show, theres so much of it on youtube. Had different comedians coming on each show and Frankie was a regular for a long period, you'll find tons of him on it on youtube
Please do more!!!
whose line UK and the original US USversion were produced by the same guy who went on to produce mock the week, I think his name was Dan Patterson
Yes that is Stuart Francis ( Canadian ) . . also Canadian is the lady towards the end of the video Katherine Ryan. . the part about A and E ( accident and emergency ) being full up and being sent to B and Q . . B and Q is a DIY/ hardware store
The Jeremy Kyle show is basically like the Jerry springer show, Pointing and laughing at the worst examples of humanity. My best friend got both my wife and daughter pregnant… that sort of thing.
Better than you getting your wife and daughter pregnant, oh wait🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Mock the week has a permanent host (Dara O'Brien) and a number of recurring panellists -Frankie was in the early series. The only panellist to be in all the series is Hugh Dennis (suited gent, middle of right hand side). The main part of the show is about UK political news and major events. The scenes we'd like to see is the light relief segment. It's 3 mins per topic and is given 2 themes. There is also the random topic wheel where X comedians have to do a short routine based on a random theme. E.g. Transport.
One of the early regulars was Rory Bremner I think, who's better known as an impressionist, and John Oliver, who now has a huge show in the States.
Glad you picked this... Its very good
Stewart Francis is Canadian.
Raining Cats & Dogs 😂 (for non-Brits it's a saying meaning raining heavily and Battersea Cats & Dogs home is a famous sanctuary for them!).
The irish comedian you were asking about is Ed Byrne his stand up is amazing.
That guy at 20:20 is Stewart Francis; a Canadian guy who is the GOAT of one-liners.
The Irish guy with the hair and glasses is Ed Byrne.
✌from Australia
"Scenes we'd like to see" is only one section of Mock the Week. Really need to see an entire episode to appreciate it.
06:47 Honestly not the most distressing thing I've heared recently since the EOD squads had to be called to Gloucester hospital (UK) after doctors removed WW2 era ordinance from a guy's rear end.
"when in a multiple choice exam, always choose C"
Congratulations, you've failed an exam where the choices were True or False.
Whereas Whose Line is pretty much all about the stage performance, most of Mock the Week is in a news quiz format similar to Have I Got News For You but with even less concern for the correct answers, as long as they can pile on the jokes.
Taggart is a detective show from Scotland, one of the best whodunnits ever made.
There's often a wait for non-emergency stuff, but we have the option to 'go private' if we can afford it. We'll not go bankrupt, though.
I used to live west lakes and appts were good too, within 5 days. Lakes seem to do pretty well with appts
Whose Line Is It Anyway was indeed a UK invention. But ironically, it was still Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles that made the UK show a hit, same as for the US version (both were directed by a Brit, Dan Patterson).
9:47 A&E: Accident and emergency (ER in the US) / B&Q: a DIY store chain (like Home Depot)
British humour is brutal and can be dark sometimes but you still laugh
You thought the mole joke was funny, this happened about 1 week ago.
A bomb squad was called out to a hospital after an A&E patient needed help getting a World War Two artillery shell out of his rectum.
The unnamed man told Gloucestershire Royal Hospital he ‘slipped and fell’ on the 57mm piece of weaponry on Wednesday.
The shell had been apparently lying on the floor while the patient was clearing out his collection of military memorabilia.
he put it up his arse on purpose, what a lad
b&q is an hardware appliance store... popular in uk
the reason British humour is so funny were all packed in like sardines and we all share the same piss taking of each other
The guy with the long hair is Ed Byrne, Stewart Francis did appear alot on Mock The Week. Frankie was in the earlier seasons.
B and q hardware store in UK frankie Boyle was on mock the week in beginning 🎖
Still revisiting your back catalogue fellas😂😂❤️👍🏽
Jeremy Kyle is our version of your Jerry Springer. Same type of show.
Correct guys, that was Stuart Francis (Canadian though) 👍🏻
As well as the woman, Katherine Ryan
you guys are fun. keep it up. liked and subscribed
It's a panel show and that section is a regular feature but for the most part it's on the same line as "Have I Got News For You?"
Good job lads!!! Enjoyed that 👍 🤣
"B&Q" is a popular DIY / home improvement store over here; kind of a UK Home Depot.
I think the major problem is the obvious hypocrisy when criticising other comedians.
Seems fair. I think he's an insufferable hypocrite these days but I still think he's funny. Good thing comedians aren't supposed to be role models or thought leaders lol.
@@yomo1690 because other comedians and one in particular had most jokes written by frankie.
@@ETRTriad sorry dude I don't get you
@@ETRTriad Like who?
I think it’s so funny how shocked American’s are at British Comedy. Your shows are funny too but we can definitely get away with more here 😂
When British people say a doctor they normally mean a GP or family medical practitioners in the US.
8:05
In the case of England, it's often both.
Love watching you guys react to these videos!, you have such a good nature and it really fits this style, keep it up lads!! 👍👍
Frankie Boyle was a regular for many seasons - and that was earlier on in his career
At its peak it was a very good, funny and popular series
You two so get British humour, a pleasure to see. Had me rolling! 🤣🤣🤣
Norwich is 19 miles from the sea but it's a very flat area. B & Q is a DIY / decorating store.
For info B&Q is what you’d probably call a hardware store, you want to buy tools, bits of wood, doors, paint. Wallpaper, garden stuff, etc…
If you are wondering about the raining cats and dogs in battersea bomb remark ??? Bttersea is an area of London where the famous cat and dog home is !
And worth reacting to Paul O'Grady's visits to it.
since you asked, the jeremy kyle show is where couples go on to hash out their relationship issue on TV, you have similar shows in the US but i forget the name of the hosts. You probably dont need to know more than that and would be hilarious to see you react to any jeremy kyle clips!
Tbh watching you guys enjoying this is actually funnier than watching the comics. you really cheer me up, thanks.
This reminded me of a spoof of Who Do You Think You Are by Armstrong and Miller.
Been wondering when you guys were gonna get onto MTW. Glad you have enjoyed this. Hope to see more
Just so you know, A&E stands for Accident and Emergency. It means “hospital.” B&Q, on the other hand, is a home and hardware store. The abbreviations sound coincidentally similar in their structure, which is why the joke works!;
“Unfortunately we’ve run out of room in A&E, we’re going to have to send you to B&Q.”
Fantastic reaction guys !!
Some places have lost doctors, and its hard to get an appointment, were i live i can get a same day appointment if i call before 12 midday.
We nicked the judge Judy idea, and got our own UK one called Judge Rinder
Or judge Romesh
Judge Romesh is a British comedy television show broadcast on Dave. It features Romesh Ranganathan settling disputes in a fictional civil court. The show is unscripted, and the claimant and defendant are generally members of the public, although some cases are between celebrities.
The compilation got to the end and then there was a brief clip of Monty Python The Spanish Inquidition. I didn;t expect that.
long haired Irish guy is Ed Byrne. Check out his bit about Alanis Morisette's "Ironic".
It was Stewart Francis (who is Canadian btw)
Frankie boyle was a panellist on mock the week, so might be in some of the parts.
