Man that one crew is doing it the old fashioned way 👍
@krinkov545 you know it
Stacking the straw on the wagon looked a little strange. We use stack the first bale parellel to the wagon tongue (in the middle) then two bales 90 deg. to the tongue for a total of five bales per row. Then stack the next row 5 parallel to the wagon tongue. Both layer would be stack face down (or up). Then repeat the first layer pattern on top of the second row then repeat as you stack layer after layer of bales. This method would put more bales on a given wagon per stacking method shown in the video. And makes the bales somewhat interlocking so to speak and better to travel down the road. Everybody has their own way of doing things. We also hand loaded all bales from the ground. Seems like it was always 100+ degree day when we pickup straw. Love the your videos, keep up the great work. I grew on a (what I thought then was a large) farm but went to engineering college. Do not get to do much farming these days but you never know. Once farming is in your blood it is there forever.
😎👊..Ahhh..the good ol' days of stacking on a wagon behind the tractor/bailer..straw and hay..good times..👊😎
Enjoyed this one a lot. Lot of memories of baling straw. Thanks for taking us along !!!
Thank you for watching. My first job was stacking square bales. It was fun filming these machines.
I love BIGTRACTORPOWER! It is so intrinsically satisfying to vegetate and watch these videos. I am retired and might take a nap while watching but that's okay, I just go back and watch what I missed. My dad and grandpa would have loved these. Note: biscuits and gravy go good with this channel! Thanks for this. MLJ
Can't wait to hear more about each piece of equipment. Would love to hear and see the whole process of an organic wheat farm versus a conventional wheat farm.
I do not know any organic wheat farms but there is an awesome RUclips channel on raiding organic small grains called John Pawsey at m.ruclips.net/user/JohnPawseySPF
I love seeing the back and forth from the plunger showing up in the tractor that sure brings back memories
Those plungers put the tractor engine to work.
That just looks hot but call me crazy, I loved getting out and baling straw and hay on those hot summer days but we never had the luxury of a machine to pickup the bales, though. We either got them off the baler and stacked them by hand on the hay rack or we picked them off the ground later, tossing them up to someone on a hay rack. Great full body workout heading into football season.
The New Holland hay bale picker. A labor saving, but very high maintenance machine.
@@leebob86 Anything by new horrible is high maintenance.
jmurphy1973 My experience also about 1968.
I remember hauling hay for a farmer that had a hay lift hooked to the bob truck that would lift the bales.
We thought the lift was GREAT.
Our crew received 7 or 8 cents per bale stacked in his barn.
The four of us divided the money.
we would hire some football kids to help bale hay we would have their tongues hanging out by lunch and we weren't even pushing them gave them a break after every wagon load pretty sad if you ask me that farms have to goto bale accumulators because they can t get any hay or straw help anymore that was my go fund me when i was a kid
@@chrisbuckler5246 Well, your not realizing that"the American farm"has changed dramatically even in the last 20 years.
You either go really big,or you don't farm, you cannot make a human being bale a couple thousand acres, that's just common sense, even if they were world class super athlete power lifters!!.
Your thinking about farms that are about 200 acres or less, you can do that on a farm this size without too many worries, but now,2,000 acres is nothing, but doing this by hand will kill a human,so the bale stackers are required.
Thanks for the video. I was usually on the hay rack stacking bales. Thanks for bringing back that memory.
My first job was stacking square bales. 👍👍
Sure is amazing how this new technology works!! I remember having to hand load small square bales from the ground to the wagon!! Very labor intensive.....
Great video and I'm looking forward to the follow ups on the individual pieces of equipment! Nice change from the regular fare of row crop videos!
Thank you for watching. Straw baling offers lots of options.
That Bale Baron is an interesting machine. First time I've seen anything like that.
It was the first time I got to see one working too.
6:48 I thought it was Randy from trailer park boys lol
WOOOHOOO!!!! Trailer Park Boys. Americans... If you love/long for the life experiences of trailer park life, then The Trailer Park Boys is a must see. Produced in Nova Scotia.
I’m betting either he didn’t last long or his big belly was tore up by the end of that. I’ve never seen anyone in shorts much less shirtless hauling hay.
Man those two guys on the trailer had bombing those bales off the Baylor that brings back some memories
My first job was stacking bales.
Fun watching different types of ag machinery at work. Enjoyed 🚜👍
Thank you
We just got done on our farm with small square but a way smaller scale though. 1150 bales with a 14t jd. Not to bad for 60 year old baler.
Very cool. The 14T is a classic.
nice, never seen one of those small bale combiners in to big bale form factor implements before ~ kinda redundant but cool too
You did alot of legwork on this video Jason... thank-you!!
It was a nice day in the straw filming. Thank you for watching.
The guys on the hay rack wagon get an E for effort and an F for form ,shorts ,no gloves ,no hay hook and way overworking themselves for a very simple labor intensive job! Don't think they are there for the Long haul, like June to September everyday the weather is fit for straw or hay! Thanks for the video and looking forward to the extended version!
Yeah, it must have been their first day. They could have stacked that straw so much better.
Never liked stacking bales in the hay mow. Hottest place on the planet
When i was a kid I didn't mind it to much. But I could not handle it now.

Great video, I love watching the stackwagons and the bale barons working, after thirty years of handling bales, I appreciate anything that makes the handling easier
The NH Stack Cruiser is one of my all time favorite farm machines.
Aw the famous "silver seeder" lol aka gleaner. My grandfather had one in the early 80's. Then switched to a 7720 turbo, nice machine. Thanks for the videos.
Gleaners today are top notch. Great grain sample very very little loss.
RG W my grand dad had a Gleaner pull type back in the ‘50’s
Big tractor power utube I wouldn't mind having a cup of coffee with you one of these days I been watching your videos for a while I'm 25 and basically been on a farm/ranch my hole life besides 2, years of getting out of the agricultural industry for a whole but if your ever in Colorado hit me up I just work on farms and help farmers don't run my own equipment but wouldn't mind sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you one of these days great videos
Good work
This is an extraordinary video, great to see so many different hay machines at work, great video
Thank you. Glad you liked it. Many more on the way.
New Holland harrowbed can't be beat.
They are awesome.
Bare chested with no gloves or bale hook? Wowee wow wow
Tough work.
My brother hired a city kid to help us bale one year. First time out baling straw, he took his shirt off to work on his tan. Pulling bales off the chute and holding them against his stomach on a 400 bale wagon When we got back to the farm and he put on his white t-shirt, little red speckles started showing up on his shirt.
Looking forward to the video on the Bale Baron.
It’s a neat machine.
What a far cry from the equipment I grew up with 50 years ago. What I find most astonishing is the speed at which they work.
They sure cover some ground in a hurry.
John Van Haecke we had a 720 Oliver baler (I think that’s what it was) it would put out 1 bale / minute and that’s about it. Balers in this video is Putting out one about every 6 seconds. That’s getting it done!
Interesting in seeing a T670.
Yes indeed. Very nice machine for straw production.
I have never seen a Bale Baron before. I am looking forward to seeing the follow up video on it as well as all the other follow on videos. Thanks BTP.
I had not had a chance to see a Bale Baron before filming this one. The local McCormick dealer sells them. They had a self propelled Bale Baron on the lot recently.
@@bigtractorpower I am looking forward to that video on the Bale Baron. Thanks for the reply.
Very nice 👏👏👍👍👏👏
C'est incroyable
Belle vidéo 👍
Bon travail 👍👊
Beaux matériels 💪👹
Big LIKE 👍
That would make for a long day creeping along like that making bales.
Thanks for all your work on posting this.
Thank you for watching.
I remember when I was younger picking up and stacking bales by hand..
My first job was stacking bales in a barn of kick bales wagons.
Jason as always you never disappoint with your videos. So interesting to watch. Would you know if anyone farming still bales hay or straw with the old Allis round balers? Like the one they used 50 years ago. Thanks
Hi. Thank you for watching. I know a farm that runs two AC round balers. My hope is to film them at some point. I live 10 hours from that farm but at some point I hope to feature the roto Baler.
Love those times
Best way to wind down after a long day in field. Great video jason!!!!!!!
Thank you Caden.
I like how that machine picks up the bales.
👍👍
Do they still double crop after they bale the straw? Love your videos!
Yes they will seed soybeans once the baling is complete.
Nice video
Happy 4 of July.
Happy 4th of July.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 can't wait to she them videos
They were fun to film.
I hate bailing straw you gotta go so slow doing it but sometimes it's fun to bale it
Awesome video
Thank you for watching.
Awesome video as always.
Thank you for watching.
Fantastic to watch.
Thank you for watching.
best video ever 👍🏻
Again thanks so much sir, you are teaching me new and better ways to farm, hope one day you will paymy farms a visit, be blessed and keep up the good work sir, so this combine is harvesting the wheat, and the bales or the hay is what is left after the wheat is harvested,so wheat byproduct is used in making the hay sir, am i correct on that?
Any BTP trucker caps?
I will have some this fall. Stay tuned. Thank you for your interest.
@@bigtractorpower I'd be more than happy to show off your channel!
Yeah! Farmer Mack Owen is so cool! Legendary...
@@stoneyowl6164 Well thanks Stoney!👍👍👍
Surprised there is no mention of how the rotary combines break up the straw and that there is a premium paid for straw from an old walker type combine because it is longer, spreads nicer, and isn't as messy. Also, for the feed end of things that chaff has a lot more nutrients per pound than the straw - do they catch any of that?
I will talk about that in the full videos. The T670 Deere made the best straw.
@James Marquis I missed that. Thanks!
You should come out to NY to see Paul Steins wheat harvest they use a bunch of small square balers on 8000 series tractors
One of my all time favorite farm’s. The plan is to have Milstone Film Co film the baling and collection action this year.
bigtractorpower I’ll be looking forward to it keep the great content coming
How fast was the Deere Tractor running to feed Claas baler? It looked unreal.
He was at 8 mph.
6:39 He dint use fork?
Definitely - save your back by using the right tools!
Hand bombing bales is considered abuse to kids now, lol. Back in Scotland some college kids were picking squares all day in big heat and on the last rack out the field one kid jumped into a huge water trough at the gate and dropped dead, cold shock heart attack.
WOW! I can see that happening.
Another great video love to see it. We just got done bailing here
👍👍. What do you Bale with.
@@bigtractorpower we were baling with a krone Big pack 1290.
Awesome stuff!
Thank you for watching.
Great video, keep up the great work.
Thank you for watching.
You are a hoot- when do you not have a camera in hand!!! Such a fan of yours, do you have shirts for purchase???🚜🚜🚜
Farms here used to use SP bale wagons like that but now everyone uses Bale Bandits.
This was the first time I had come across a Bale Baron working.
Thanks for the look at traditional baling, or baling as I knew it. Was the new bailer a hesston?
The Baler on the McCormick was a Massey Ferguson Hesston.
How common is is dropping and baling straw down where you are
How many LBS. in a bushel. Great vid
60 pounds per bushel on average.
@@cameltanker1286 thanks
John Douglas Dawson A bushel of shellled corn is 56 pounds .a bushel of wheat is 60 pounds abushel of oats is 32 pounds.a bushel of soybeans is 60 pounds. hope this helps.
perry spradlin thanks for that info
will this wheat become bread ?
Tom Lee if it’s milling quality and the farmers sell it on a milling contract yes if not it’s usually cleaned and sold as seed or feed to livestock
@@razorhook5421 good information love to watch it grow show where the crops go
@James Marquis bread may well be my favorite food & I have the belly to prove it hope everyone has a good crop
Great vid 👏
Thank you for watching.
Why don't people use wagons anymore?
Bird Dog Labor is not available or cost effective.
I thought the"bale-barron"was very different B.T.P.,I hate to be the guy that has to fix it,it looks like a terminal pain in the ---.
It does a nice job as long as the bales are in a straight line.
@@bigtractorpower And the machine doesn't break down.
Glad I'm not there to help pick m up by hand 😂😂
It’s a bunch of work by hand. I like the NH Stack Cruisers.
@@bigtractorpower me too. Very handy tool
Bale Baron is the ticket. Friends have one and a bale bandit. Prefer the baron. No hand touch from the field to the end user.
Krone MultiBale is the way to go.
Do you have a video about the Lexion 750?
Thanks, JIM
I will. It goes with the Claas Baler.
👍👍👍👍
Thank you for watching.
i see no use for the bale baron if you wan t big package just get big square baler and also deere hastened changed there small baler dezign in ages that auger design was on 14t baler
The Bale Baron allows for easy handling of small squares. The end user wants a 14x18 bale so this is a way to collect them and get a semi trucks worth of bales off the field. I have watched John Deere balers for 40 years and agree little has changed but they do good job and it’s an ever shrinking sales market so I guess there is not a need to advance them.
When he's out filming these videos I guess you could say his wife is Mikeless
round bale never got a look in ....!
I did not get to catch up with one in straw this year. Maybe in 2020. I did film some round balers in hay. Stay tuned.
@@bigtractorpower thank you for the reply , ... mostly round balers used here in ireland .....great channel , love seeing how you do things on a grand scale over there .....!
I hate conventional bales, we call them idiot cubes
They have there uses. An NH Stack Cruiser make 14x18 bales a breeze
