He doesn't consider it a valid run for himself, not for others. Custom Mode exists for struggling players, this way they don't have to nerf the challenge that Normal mode provides. And the devs know very well that Normal Mode is unreasonably hard to anyone who hasn't invested the time to master at least 50% of the game's aspects.
@@t3hsourcey god damn it critsrc, even on RUclips we still bump into each other while browsing Dead Cells content. We haven't encountered each other on Twitch for a while, and all of a sudden HERE YOU ARE.
War Spear isn't actually that bad of a weapon, in 2.4 I'm assuming this is from 2.4 since it's buffed, it has a pretty good biome clear in brutality since you can use it with Killer instinct for your skills and Predator to close the distance to your enemies, you just need a weapon like Sadist Stilleto or Rapier on your backpack to deal with bosses
I thought the same. I think war spear has been buffed atm because i beat 2bc and 3bc both with it in survival. Necromancy and what doesn't kill me are godsends for my reckless playstyle. The war spear 's first attack stuns most of the normal enemies, they're crippled to the point that i feel like I'm cheating. In the 3bc run i had a tier 2 war spear in forgotten sepulcher, absolutely insane
I reached 4BC without using a shield (187hrs in as of now), not planning to use it in the future either. I just cannot master it. Also, I think CM is sort of cheating coz I believe that's not how the game was meant to be played. It's all about drawing the weapons and skills, ur luck and how well u can adapt to different fighting styles throughout the run. U rightfully mentioned that's what brings the fun and has people come back again and again and again trying to beat the game. Thanks for the video!
On item variety, wouldn't it be more fun and challenging in a way if all weapons you found matched your highest color? Or maybe not all items, but a majority of them (in normal mode.) Instead of just deciding if it doesn't match your highest stat, recycle, you would have to decide what weapon would work best for your run. I've seen other people say this first, so just mentioning it here for feedback.
That much is obvious. If they don't match your color but it's still useful then you should take it. (like vampirism when you don't want to waste flask to get back health or anything that has different use then doing damage)

I got my 5bc through custom mode. So i beated the Giant on 4bc with Custom mode settings (That probably disabled achievements). When i now run a Normal 4bc run to beat the Giant again do i still get the Steam Achievement for Absorbing the 5th BC ? Or did i locked myself now out of that and have to do a New Safefile basicly to get this Achievement ?

you dont even need a shield to beat the game, it just makes it way easier. armadillopack has its upsides and downsides. it has a cooldown since youre parrying with the roll, but its way better at reflecting bombs and its easier to use
As much as Meat Screwer is so good, it was a bad choice to use it in Cavern, it almost killed me twice, I was lucky to get a Katana from an elite enemy. It was useful against The Giant.
Thanks a lot for all your videos. Still, I disagree on one point : I completed for the first time two 4BC runs last weekend and I found it way easier to do so with my favourite colour (Tactical). All my previous attempts with Survival (my least favourite) were nothing but failures, blood, sweat and tears. At this level, IMO HP are less important than dealing massive damages and maintaining my own favourite flow. After 160 hours, I just don't get how Survival works in terms of flow😂 Same with health saving / recovering mutations : I think they are nothing but delaying death devices that prevent from inflicting big damages to mobs. I completed the runs with Standard Bow (game best kept secret😅) /Infantry Bow / Throwing Knives / Pyrotechnics for close range purpose, and also to "tease" distant or invisible mobs. Multiple knock Bow for distance Catalyst applying oil A turret with bonus damages affixes Counter Shield Armadillo Pack to parry sometimes Point Blank to deal with emergency situations and trap teleporting enemies Networking or support for bosses With a oil / fire synergy. Deals huge damage on hit and over time, crits every close hit Networking is the ultimate mutation for giant (perfect kill in seconds😮) It gathered the Brutality pros (massive close range damages) with Tactics ones (dealing damages from a distance by staying safe from attacks) Managed to complete in Brutality yesterday too.
I absolutely do not agree that shields are mandatory or that that they make the game easier. I think having dual bound weapons make the game much easier. I'd always rather have more damage than waiting around to parry stuff. Rolling, ducking and crouching are really all you need. Yeah, the last stage of the spoiler boss can be easier but if you kill him fast enough you don't have to really dodge much.
@@evankrueger7321 yeah and getting gud enough with the shield will benefit you in a fast paced but "safe" playstyle. Just parry when 5 dudes jump at you from all directions and at different times. No need to "wait", that's only useful for caster's, etc.
I'm at 4bc and my Parry skill is very weak. I always roll by reflex and when a Parry it's always to soon. Somehow I was always able to beat the hand of the king with tactics build. 🤷
How did you get the last two scrolls? You had 28 when you beat the Giant. And then you immediately went to the throne room. So how'd you get those 2 scrolls?
Ngl I wish there was more added onto the malaise mechanic. It's really unique; I'd love to see how it could be expanded Also, Mutation idea: Tactics scaling All Skills inflict 3% more damage for every second they go unused. This bonus caps at (15% base, +3% per level of Tactics) Edit: this bonus is removed when the skill is used. Kinda obvious but it's possible to miss
I use the 3x the recovery time, vampirism, meat skier sword, giant killer, and last but not least ice armor,Ice armor is important so when you are low in life you use ice armor to be able to tank any 1 hit and then use vampirism, jump into a group of monsters and use meat skier and wala all you hp is almost full, also equip talent that slows enemies down when you hit them and the one that increases defense and attack both are in red talents, and increase red only and if you cant increase green, when you do both you power up giant killer, this has worked for me anywhere from no cell to I am currently on 5 cells, also before you die instantly restart game and you will be able to re start last saving point, but when you defeat the last bad guy,you have to kill yourself in spikes because the game won't let you restart game, all data is saved
the only mechanic that hinders my gameplay ded is the potato of a brain, literally ever had an ice fire build with oil grenade thingy too and my stupid ass forgot to dodge as usual "nono , kill the enemy first, its a priority"
Whenever I try to beat 4BC, I kill HOTK and he just gives me a note saying “investigate the giant” or some nonsense…who is the giant? I want to play 5BC how do I do that
A 3 bc player (can't even beat any of the first set of bosses) watching a 4 bc guide be like: Yep, that's it. Aha. Aha! Got it. Dies in the second biome immediately Edit/Update: I finally got to 4 bc with the weirdest combo I've done: Spite Sword + Face Flask (The Unkillable)
Spite sword + Flask is an old school classic. I wonder why the sword has the lowest drop rate in the game at 0.03%, it seems like the perfect starting weapon for new players.
Unfortunately, custom mode was considered cheating by developer. That is why they disabled any achievement in custom mode. Developer don't want you to beat their game thay way. Yeah that suck acx.

Networking or support for bosses
With a oil / fire synergy. Deals huge damage on hit and over time, crits every close hit
Networking is the ultimate mutation for giant (perfect kill in seconds😮)
It gathered the Brutality pros (massive close range damages) with Tactics ones (dealing damages from a distance by staying safe from attacks)
Managed to complete in Brutality yesterday too.
The Giant gives you the 5th bc, so you could have just stopped there.
If I were you, I would have spike shield in my bag and use armodillopack
I absolutely do not agree that shields are mandatory or that that they make the game easier. I think having dual bound weapons make the game much easier. I'd always rather have more damage than waiting around to parry stuff. Rolling, ducking and crouching are really all you need. Yeah, the last stage of the spoiler boss can be easier but if you kill him fast enough you don't have to really dodge much.
using an exploit is easier than using an intended game mechanic that takes precision and skill. who woulda guessed it.
lol same. tactics builds are always easier for me but in 4 bc i always die 🤠 i think i am realllyyyy bad at dodging.
Electric whip ice shards duo baby
Tysm, I jus got the 5th bsc
I just beat 3 bc with cursed sword
I allways use the armordillo pack, and i never used a shield
How did you get the last two scrolls? You had 28 when you beat the Giant. And then you immediately went to the throne room. So how'd you get those 2 scrolls?
You get 2 scrolls if you skip high peak castle or distillery
5bc please
Still can not beat HOTK on 4BC. I never have anything left for backup at that point.
Ngl I wish there was more added onto the malaise mechanic. It's really unique; I'd love to see how it could be expanded
Also, Mutation idea:
Tactics scaling
All Skills inflict 3% more damage for every second they go unused. This bonus caps at (15% base, +3% per level of Tactics)
Edit: this bonus is removed when the skill is used. Kinda obvious but it's possible to miss
I was playing with shield since 0bc and the problem is that now i can't dodge or play with more than 1 weapon ;-;
Just beat 4 bc with cursed sword only as yea
i would never get to 4 bc without continuation mode KEKW.
The only prob with 4bc is that it is extremely discouraging. 1 hit by zombies and the entire bar gone on second biome BTW
bro thats what rally mechanic is for? if you get hit and go hide in a corner you simply are not good enough yet, play aggressive
@@Scare_Hive that is true but still the damage unbelievably high and u have to really calculate your health usage is just mega brain u know
I use the 3x the recovery time, vampirism, meat skier sword, giant killer, and last but not least ice armor,Ice armor is important so when you are low in life you use ice armor to be able to tank any 1 hit and then use vampirism, jump into a group of monsters and use meat skier and wala all you hp is almost full, also equip talent that slows enemies down when you hit them and the one that increases defense and attack both are in red talents, and increase red only and if you cant increase green, when you do both you power up giant killer, this has worked for me anywhere from no cell to I am currently on 5 cells, also before you die instantly restart game and you will be able to re start last saving point, but when you defeat the last bad guy,you have to kill yourself in spikes because the game won't let you restart game, all data is saved
after leaving the game for about 3-4 months I'm trying to finish it in 4BC....
I'm suffering
What happens if you kill the giant and die in the hotk?
Weirdly enough Mama tick Claws worked much better in 4BC, prior to that I struggled to use them. Could be a skill issue though.
the only mechanic that hinders my gameplay ded is the potato of a brain, literally ever had an ice fire build with oil grenade thingy too and my stupid ass forgot to dodge as usual "nono , kill the enemy first, its a priority"
good shop
Just got into 4 bc and i cant even get out of prisoners wuaters now
How is war spear not viable?? That thing carries every run I have on any BC
Im taking sometimes way to much damage on elite enemies
how do you get the shop to be all the same colours?
It's an upgrade from the collector after unlocking 30 items from him
I thought you had to beat giant to get the 5th boss cell
Is it just me or on 4 BC the Hand of the king can't be rooted or stun
Whenever I try to beat 4BC, I kill HOTK and he just gives me a note saying “investigate the giant” or some nonsense…who is the giant? I want to play 5BC how do I do that
You have to defeat the giant boss
Only 4%? I'm not as bad as I thought
I'm a newbie to this game. How do you run double of the same item?
Legendary Items allow you to pick two of the same items at once. Here, Psychie had a legendary Cluster Grenade and regular Cluster Grenade.
One of them HAS to be legendary
*laughs in Armadillopack*
I’m just sayin: frostbite + frost blast = gg ez in biomes. Bat + trap + ice grenade = gg ez against most bosses
How can we go to the scarecrow without the DLC
You can't, it is DLC only
I made 42 tactics !
I know custom mode is not cheating but c'mon
We all wanted to beat a game legitimately
Except for people that wanted not to struggle, i accept that
A 3 bc player (can't even beat any of the first set of bosses) watching a 4 bc guide be like:
Yep, that's it.
Aha.
Aha!
Got it.
Dies in the second biome immediately
Edit/Update: I finally got to 4 bc with the weirdest combo I've done: Spite Sword + Face Flask (The Unkillable)
GJ mate
Gg
I beat 3bc with a 60% to bleeding targets rapier and got hotk to half health in 5 seconds
Same with me I fight hand of the king without flask. It was an amazing experience
Spite sword + Flask is an old school classic. I wonder why the sword has the lowest drop rate in the game at 0.03%, it seems like the perfect starting weapon for new players.
Sill not 5% but im getting to 5BC even if its the last thing I do in this game
Did it
Unfortunately, custom mode was considered cheating by developer. That is why they disabled any achievement in custom mode. Developer don't want you to beat their game thay way. Yeah that suck acx.
6:44 Disables high tier items to prove you’re just bad at the game.
Pain cells
Judging how good a color is by how much health you get from it is dumb lol
Can you please please please explain the malaise system but I need u to cover every single information about it
Says 200hrs like it's a lot. Lol.
I mean evem 130 is enough to get all the achiements and all the blueprints (though still needing outfits)
I'm currently playing in 4BC, my God is hard, I'm in the bank, and this game is so fun to play, I can't wait to collect my 5BC
