Big Little Lies: Scream (Season 2 Episode 1 Clip) | HBO
“Meryl Streep could play the Batman and be the right choice.” - Cam, on Modern Family lol
Its probably true
So true.
@S S you ok dude ? I have seen you at least in 10 comment replies
@@paulfienga9466 after that hillbilly eledgy disastrous performance? Nope. She even got a Golden Raspberry Awards nomination for the worst actress ouch🙈
She's a freak when she acts
I believe that SCREAM was a GPS signal for all the EMMY'S to find her.
yes, officer this is the comment that put me in the ER.
Lol.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏
😂😂😂😂And may that Emmy locate her.
Comment of the year!!!!
The scream is terrifying. But watch it again for you've not noticed Kidman's outstanding reaction.
Kidman has stepped up her game these years
manel manel . She always been amazing since Dead Calm, To Die For etc
@@snnsrxn3188 think she's gotten better with age...
manel manel . I mean it’s your opinion. But she gave amazing performances in Dogville, The Others, The Hours, specially in Birth when she was younger. But for some reason, people act like she is now giving good performances. I'm not talking about you. Just a general observation which is kind of annoying
@@snnsrxn3188 the thing is she had amazing scripts back in the days but now with average stories she still manages to lift a movie on her own
"my grief is too loud for you, celeste?" my god that scream was terrifying. Almost the laura palmer/twin peaks level.
Exactly what I thought first time seeing it, gave me war flashbacks to the ending of The Return
Kidman's reaction was perfect. The screams been talked about enough.
The sound she makes before she covers her mouth really sells it to me.
This was genuinely terrifying. The way Meryl played it was so primal and vicious. Brilliant!!!
People are saying she's even more terrifying than Perry (Skarsgard) and I whole heartedly agree. She's a more nuanced version, but chilling none the less! Meryl can do no wrong.
@@Jordan_Dale Yep, the crazy really runs in that family.
“What, my grief is too loud for you?” that line perfectly encapsulates mary louise’s passive aggressiveness and dramatic nature
I got so many chills here. She freaks me out like Perry did oof
Isn't he right though??
@@kaushikikushwaha86 right about what?
@@AA-qb7ni I read some other comment and replied to yours😂😂😂 my bad
@@kaushikikushwaha86 😂😂 no worries
Wow. That scream. That's an Emmy scream. She's the Queen
Wow. 😲 She certainly Meryl Streeped the f*ck outta that scene. lol
😂😂🤣
We expect no less from her 😆
This scene made me think how Perry's childhood might have been with Streep's character as a mother. Streep is definitely getting that Emmy nod
Yo!! 😨😅😢
I thought the same thing. Maybe she is the reason why Perry was such an asshole.
Right.! Her character is very intelligent and dignified but a little cooky. Lol.
And also highly narcissistic
You know why Meryl Streep is a legend and continues to amaze people? It's because of scenes like this. I'm not even talking about her screaming, any actor can take a second to gather themselves and scream bloody murder like that. It's her acting before the scream that makes her so amazing. Think about it, Meryl Streep is one of the most decorated and praised actresses of All-Time. She has won and been nominated for so many awards that I bet she can't remember them all. But it's not the fact that she's Meryl Streep, an A-List Actor who does amazing work. It's because when you see her character's. you don't see Meryl Streep. Like in this scene here, I don't see Mirana from "The Devil Wears Prada," I don't see the lady from "Osage County," the lady from "The Post," the award winning character from "Sophie's Choice," or that crazy lady from "Momma Mia" or that film where she played an old age rockstar who disregards her kids. I dont see any of those characters, I don't even see Meryl Streep. I see an older housewife who has lost her Son and who is losing her mind over the loss. I see a depressed woman who is really losing it.
It one thing for an Actor to play a role convincingly, it's something completely different when that actress makes you forget that she's an Actress who has previous work and makes you actually believe the person on screen that you're seeing is a real person. That's why Meryl Streep is a legend.
Absolutely! And I really love her..
U are so fucking right. I’ve always said that, nobody does it like her. The way she moves from character to character with such ease and believability, she’s just beyond!
TRUE
This is so unbelievably true! A virtue actors like DiCaprio and Gyllenhaal despite their talent don't pocess.
Unlike Julia Roberts, where all I ever see is Julia Roberts pretending to be someone else. Meryl IS that someone else....what a rare talent.
those boys reaction was definitely real
They probably weren’t in the room when they filmed her scream. When the dialogue/noises are disturbing, they film the actor and the kids separately
@@yoni5570 Why can't the kid actors be in the room when she screamed? I mean she wasn't swearing or talking about anything vulgar that couldn't be heard in front of the kids
I think they weren’t told Meryl was gonna scream beforehand so their reactions are genuine
Idk about them kids. I find Nicole's reaction the most fascinating. She is one hell of an actress as well but if i was the director, i'd ask Meryl to scream louder than expected. Or maybe plan another reaction beforehand and let her improvise and shock everyone.
Well if it was just like in Florence, then the reaction was filmed when Meryl screamed the first time to get the most genuine reaction. Meryl's scream in the final cut is probably the second or third take.
What? My grief's too loud for you. Oh Celeste...
Lmao
I love that line "Don't you feel angry?" and then Nicole's character just stays quiet in confusion and shock from the abrupt question. Awesome acting between the two of them, maybe it was improvised.
U make me laugh, at that level, improvised doesn't exist. But natural it is.
it's not about the scream, it's about how she get there. Mary Louise's truly attitude is disguised by soften words that she's babbling over but actually her anger and ominous feelings are up to be show abruptly, at any rate if she wants, and her true self when she's on it gonna devour everyone around. Meryl Streep REALLY did that, bow down to the queen.
exactly what I thought. Can’t imagine the grief and anger she is bearing all the time.
As if the cast didn’t have enough star power already-
Kitala KO AND I OOP
"Is my grievance too loud for you?" Already iconic.
Two things I loved more than the iconic scream:
1. Nicole's reaction. Amazing acting.
2. The way Meryl looks at her after saying "You don't?", trying to dig up anything she can find in Celeste about the incident.
Just finished the first episode and LOVED it. Can't wait to see what this season has in store.
You can tell the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Perry was just as terrifying as his mother.
pretty sure later she's gonna reveal how her husband used to beat her up and Perry saw all of it and became the person that he was
Would it be fabulous if her Emmy clip is just her screaming
Both Meryl and Nicole are excellent in this scene! The emotions on their faces are mesmerizing - Meryl is beyond (in a very good way) and Nicole is so subtle. Bravo!
Not only her scream but the boys’ and Nicole’s reaction to it...wow!
And in under 2 minutes you got a lot of Perry's background growing up.
I saw a Tumblr post that resonates with me and it goes a little something like this. "Mary Louise already seems to be the sort of mother to turn a blind eye to her son's bad behavior, and therefore Perry turned out to be the man he was." I think this is extremely poignant in the "Me Too" era, and, as much as it is uncomfortable to watch, in flashbacks it is necessary. I actually wonder, also, what happened to his (Perry's) father? Did he contribute to his son's bad behavior? I don't want to blame it all on Mary Louise. What I'm trying to say, essentially, is that maybe she didn't even know she was doing it, at the time.
@@Jordan_Dale Ironically she told her grandkids that fine boys will turn into fine men. The boys have to be well behaved and respectful. But many parents turn a blind eye to their kids bad behaviors because well "they are just kids". Mary Louise is the character to watch. Her scream was blood curdling.
and the Emmy goes to...
She won already and it's only episode 2.
Helena Bonham Carter
Julia Garner
The “don’t you feel angry? ...you don’t” was even more heartbreaking for me
This moment made the whole episode for me. My God that shriek.
Her acting is really amazing. I do not know any actor who can play a character in such a real way
"my grief is too loud for you?!" - this is such a powerful line, I can feel her pain.
And the Emmy goes to...
👍❤️❤️
What a way to get started!!
This scene is terrifying. A mother's grief rapidly changing to bitterness and hate, not to mention jealousy. You know she's in pain but the way she indirectly insults Celeste and other women's husbands is so spiteful and mean. Streep really delivers the performance of her life.
She's so creepy, but at the same time such a vivid and living character. Brilliant acting, very nice première.
Can’t pick between this and “so who are we planning to kill?” for the best Streep moment of the episode.
That's the Emmy in the bag then
0:43 when someone asks how your day at work was.
This scream makes me laugh every time! 😂
That scream is so cathartic for me.
Meryl streep is a good actress i like so much
0:43 When you running late for work and the subway train door closes right before you can get in...
Two acting TITANS just sitting next to each other at a dinner table I stan! I don't think they've been in a project with each other since The Hours. This was awesome to see.
This one scene really captures the whole story of their relationship in a nutshell.
You know exactly how everyone feels about each other in this one scene.
Katya: *Tells a joke*
Trixie: 0:43
0:47 I think Nicole was quite shocked here that she almost said Meryl instead of Mary Louise.
I actually find this kind of funny because Meryl's given name is actually Mary Louise. So either way, she would've gotten it right 😂😂
The way she flows thru the scene, complex character and scene.. She needed to let go and still be observant of celeste, only meryl can do it.
This scream cracks me up every time I hear it! I only wish I could scream this high...I'd LOVE to scare people with it!!! 👏🏼😂
broke glass! Whew
This is brilliant acting and it's going to give Meryl Streep a Emmy
Can Julianne Moore please join the next season? Then we'll have the leading women from the Hours reunited!!
I liked the look on that one boys face too 😂
Can y’all believe she already bagged an Emmy and a golden globe with one scream
SAG: Am I a joke to you?
The best actress! 🙌🏻
0:43 me when I realized I've been using my mobile data instead of Wi-Fi.

Give Meryl the Emmy already. I wonder how many takes it took for this scene cause wow.
Nobody:
Meryl Streep: AAAaaaAaaaAAaaaaAAA
Everybody: OMG GIVE THAT WOMAN AN EMMY
I love her btw 😂😍
She's actually pretty scary. Just like Perry. Good stuff.
Here they are together, almost 20 years after The Hours
Meryl is saying to Nicole: I could have played Virginia Woolf. I would have done a better job at the train station.
@@da96103 This comment has me deceased-- lol all in all Kidman did a great job in that scene, but just imagine Streep
Velho eu morro de rir toda vez q vejo essa cena kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Só com esse grito já ganhou um Emmy e um Golden Globe
To be honest, sometimes you need to just scream but society frowns at you if you do
0:44 dang I felt that blood curling scream just like Lemony Snicket movie she rolled in as aunt josephine
What a scene and Streep is so commanding in it, you really believe she’s a mother who has lost her son. Give her the Emmy and Golden Globe now and be done with it
queen pls recreate this scream when you accept your emmy and golden globe
"don't you feel angry?" ... Now we know where Perry gets it from 😬
TBH, if my son just randomly died one day without an proper explanations provided, I would lose my mind too.
Maybe she didn't know what a piece of **** Perry was or maybe she did but that is a mother's reaction.
Jesus Christ, Meryl just took passive aggressive to a whole other level. I’m scared of her and I haven’t even watched the show. I think I should start.
deaetee You should. The first season is great with so many good performances. As you can see, this season does not disappoint so far either.
@@camronp_6 If it doesn't hit Netflix in Australia soon, I'm going to buy a copy.
@@jiafeiproductss Well it is an HBO show so if you have access to that, you can watch it
the acting between these two in this scene is in a whole different league against anything I've seen on TV. Mary Louise is truly terrifying and unhinged. She may even turn out to be a worse scenario for celeste.
Her scream is my ringtone
I love the way she says angry!!! 🤣🤣
So tell me, who are we going to kill?
Frickin great start!
Meryl and Nicole in the same show, and sharing screen time together, this is like GAY HEAVEN. By the way both are wearing amazing wigs.
kraxths alexiou Nicole was wearing a wig all through season 1. It looks good on her though.
I don't think I even noticed until her first therapy episode
Grandma: "Here you go, eat some more."
Me: "no thanks, I'm full."
Grandma: 0:43
You got me there😂
Haven't heard her scream like that since she was Aunt Josephine.
I smell an Emmy nod coming her way.
She smashed the scene so much she needs an Oscar
Meryl Streep is brilliant.
She's absolutely phenomenal.
Season 2 has the most iconic moments, this scream, the slap, Renata screaming in her car
Kids, that's how an Emmy sounds like.
I just watched the final episode and this scene marked me the most. The scream was speaking lots of pain, grief and anger. U need a lot of energy to let it all out with one scream like that.
Remembering what a moment this was 😎
I wonder how many takes this is !..the horror in those child actors faces !
Emmy Announcer: And the Emmy goes to... Meryl Streep.
Emmy Production Staff: Wait. She's not one of the nominees.
Emmy Announcer: If you don't give this award to her right now, I'm going to scream. Do you wanna hear it?
Emmy Production Staff: No! OK. Just take it.
I don't know if people still use this acronym but I'm over here truly LMFAO(ing). ;)
Nichole Kidman just announced that Big Little Lies season 3 is happening!!!
Btw Renata is my favorite🙂

Best Supporting: Laura Dern
"And all the Awards in the world go to Meryl Streep."
Meryl is going to take us through 5 stages of grief in this show I bet. This is her angry. So excited for what s coming next.
I love Meryl Streep. Boy, she really brings it. lol
The kids reaction lol😅
I can't wait for the series to reveal how Mary Louise shaped Perry as a person who became abusive and controlling. There is something in her that tell us something.
Meryl Streep is an acting powerhouse.
just give her the golden globe already
Never watched the show, but Collider Live brought me here...
I loved this scene. She steels every scene she's in. Meryl is so good.
She creeped me out and made me feel sore for her lost and her pain in 1:30 screen time. Amazing.
Out of Africa was my favorite should have
Won her an Oscar
Ladies and gentlemen: The next Meryl Streep meme!
Tbh I was super shocked by her screaming lol
There is so much in this moment, the scream itself to Mary Louise's anger which is at times primal and other times somewhat meekish. She is unpredictable and frequently volatile--a presense that will damn sure shake the Monterey 5. They're not ready.
Meryl really is coming for that Emmy huh?!
Exactly how i feel when i wake up Monday morning bravo Ms. Streep
Meryl Steep: A

I just finished my certification and personality disorders. This is the best example of what a histrionic personality disordered person would do.

I was scared at first, and then I just laughed. Intense. Give the Emmy to this woman! Right now
