  • If the back seat of your Honda Fit won’t fold down, here’s a fix that may help! I used zip ties to repair my 2008 Honda Fit. But if you want the actual replacement part, it is called a “Snap.” Here’s a link to buy a replacement: www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine.... Good luck!

I was looking everywhere for solutions to this. It seems people were going more complicated routes. Thank you for sharing!!

OMG thank you! My sister drove my Fit for a couple years and the seat release was broken when I got it back. You're a lifesaver! Zip ties FTW!!

Have the same pertinent in my 2019. Screwdriver was what I was thinking. I'll pop the cover off now

So helpful! My entire latch was broken off by the previous owner and was told I needed to buy a completely new seat to fix. Will be just lowering via the back mechanism now. Thanks!

Thank you so much! I know nothing about cars or fixing things but after watching this video i was able to fix both back seats in 10mins! Only cost $3 for the plastic zip ties! Also the only tools i needed were a flat head screw driver to unlock seat, phillips screw driver to undo screws on seats and some scissors for tidying up zip ties! Super easy! If i can do it anyone can!

Thank you so much for this video! At first I couldn’t figure out how you configured the zip ties and I was just going to look for the part. However, I could not find the correct part for the correct side, so I tried again and VOILA! I was able to restore this incredibly important function of my 2008 car.

The same thing happened to me when I got my safety belt snagged in the mechanism. I had actually finished doing the exact same repair with zip ties when I found the little plastic clip which had fallen into a crevice. I snipped the zip tie and reinstalled the clip. It's kinda smart by honda to use this clip. If you over strain the latch, the little clip pops out and prevents damage. It's a 2$ part to replace if you happen to break yours

Thanks heaps for this video! My fit has been like this since october last year and I didn't want to pay someone to fix it because I knew something had become detached. I had a few spare zip ties, it took a few attempts but I was able to do it by myself :) works a treat!

Mine looks different. It's an 07.... I can't get the cover completely off so I can't unlatch it.
Also there was a small white piece inside cover..
If I could take a picture of it I would..
    Weeellllll
I got it unlatched and it's something else broken. Wish it were this easy! I thank you for at least helping me get to that point.. now I need to order the latch release. (I think that what it is!)
    Thank you again!

I'm not able to remove that black plastic thing to get to the mechanism because even though I can remove the screws I can't get to the side where the plugs are with the seat in an upright position.

Thanks for that. I have a Honda 2014 model and the screws are on the side. This implies you can't get to it without moving the seat down. Anyway great video for 2008 models :)

I must not be configuring the zip ties right and everytime I pull up on the lever to try to release the seat the hook just pulled out of the zip tie.

Funny my Captur is giving me concerns. The 2/3ds rear kside seat wont release easy. The plastic levers on the top are so poorly made. I know if it continues either the lever will break or the wire will. A word of warning I almost broke two fingers when they got caught between the edgd of the seat and the rear side pillar. Why are all these cars designed/built so badly. So Mr designer who ever you work for do some quality analysis on your design. You may think its good but you have been building them for over a 100 years. Isnt it about time you produce something long lasting and easy to fix. Why don't you build small EV's instead of great power hungry SUV's. How the hell can you call them small. You really lost the plot when you went tranverse drive train. Ok for the BMC mini but there is no room left in the hood to work on SUV's !!! You want a car that will be wanted. Then think about the end user. Reliable. Cheap to run. Last for ever body shell. Write a book "car design for Dummies". Our resources are really gettting low. Another book "Save the Planet for Dummies".
