I find my most of my stash in flea markets, some in the stores if I see something that catches the eye, or on clearance, or for sashing/border to match a quilt I'm finishing, and some online. I try not to throw anything tiny or mini crumbs or strips, away. Those are usually used as stuffing. Looks perfect as table runner or wall art, great idea! Yes, very easily done to get stray from the original plan, of laying the blocks out I have keep focus and say no you already planned it just leave it alone lol 😁
