- After three years of dragging my feet, I'm ready to try to replace this broken drawer bottom. I'll use a technique I'm calling the "half-dado method."

Simple and to the point. A great fix and a great video. You did good Andrew!
Thank you very much!
this is amazing. i also picked up a dresser for free with the intention to fix as a side hobby except im a beginner.. this was very easy and I think I will be able to complete the task
Thank you! Awesome to hear, best of luck with your dresser!
Sometimes the best fixes are the simple fixes.
Agreed! Too many other things to spend time on...

Sometimes projects are easier than we expect (not often!) Great solution, thanks!
Wow you look so much like the late great Norm MacDonald, thanks for the video!
Love the editing Andy! I laughed hard when you cut to the bottomless drawer.
Bahahaha! :) Thanks Justin!
It’s amazing that with the skills you have it took you so long to fix .
You know what ? Quick simple and you didn't waste my time thank you....
Thank you! You bet!
Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance is one of my 10 books 😁
Such a great one!
I seriously only got to 0:34 before I not only lmao but also for prob the first time in my life, I saw an actual man sweeping up a mess that he just created. I'm SHOCKED!!
Great opening. With the theme of my channel "Reclaim Repair Reuse Recycle" I appreciate the repurposing of this desk. Most of my shop is reuse of lateral file cabinets on recycled bed frames connected to wheels from recycled broken dolly wheels, a desk customized with pallet wood for my carburetor work station, a welding cart made from
a discarded power washer & so on. Once in awhile I have to buy parts LOL.
.👍 200
Stay safe, Joe Z
Thank you Joe! I’m with you! Eventually I’m going to turn an old filing cabinet into a welding cart here, and I have an old dresser from my brother that will make for a perfect rolling tool chest once it has some new drawers (kind of like what you’ve done). It’s often super tempting to just go buy stuff to save time, and I’ll admit I’m doing more and more of that lately, but it’s always rewarding when you can avoid that. Take care and stay safe as well!
@@AndrewReuter I know what you mean. Sometimes that shinny new box is hard to pass up LOL But like you said I also find it rewarding to reclaim something that is going to the landfill & customize it to your own needs
Joe Z.
Hahaha! I love the opening sequence :D
:) Glad you liked it!
How's it holding up? I need to do this for my bathroom vanity. It wasn't originally held together. It breaks every time I'm put things in it. ALLL of the drawers! I'm not even stuffing it. Anyways I'll try this.
Great thank you
Omg! Trying this
Great simple fix!
Roll-Up Rainer Thank you!
Have you a video that shows how you do this but a lot slower please? I just couldn't follow what you did.
Great,if you have all that equipment, tools and time.
Wow, great tip mate! I may have opportunity to try this soon, some of my drawers have seen better days LOL :)
😆 Thank you! Nice channel btw! Had no idea that one could carve rocks like that!
@@AndrewReuter thank you very much 😊 I really appreciate that. That was a fun little project. It was really a spur of the moment idea. But I think it turned out OK 🙂
Quintín uploaded again whoo
😆
Andrew Reuter any tips on repairing some heavy scissors I’m having issues with the screw that holds them together
What’s the trouble? If you have any pics, feel free to post them to Twitter/Instagram/whatever and tag me there. Easier to share that stuff sometimes outside of the comments.
Andrew Reuter ok cool I have to find them cause I started another project
Hi. Great video and edits! Question: How can I make a deeper drawer out of two drawers? Here is what I mean so one of the top drawers face came off and as I looked inside I had a thought to may remove the bottom of the one on top and some how attach the front to the other drawer under it so that from outside it looks like two drawers but when you pull is one deep drawer. Thanks in advance
What wood did you use for drawer bottom itself? I need to replace a drawer bottom in an antique dresser. The original bottom is too warped to reuse.
What glue did you use
upvoted for the humor ....
😊 Thanks!
On the back of the draw we’re the dovetails are I would cut down on both sides of the back till I get to the runner for the bottom ware I would have made room by removing the back piece so the bottom would slide in and pin or screw it place and you are using the draw completely without anything else put in place okay.
Sounds like a good approach!
