- I show you how to fix a sagging drawer from a chest of drawers from one of them popular Swedish furniture stores. (You know the one i mean). I bought the product, Fix-a-Drawer off of ebay(UK). for around £12.00 for 3 x 2 sets so six straps all together. Just checked ebay, that offer no longer on, currently £12.00 for 2 x 2 sets. I have fixed 9 drawers using this product and they have never let me down.So Highly reccommended. AND YES!! THIS ONE IS THE WIFE'S!!!!!! ;-)))

I knew there'd be someone on RUclips with an ingenious idea on how to fix this annoyance. Thank you so much for your video as well as the clarity of it. I'm sure I speak for others when I say it's much appreciated.
You've just possibly made my week! Haven't been able to use my drawers for months now and hoping I find these products and they do the trick. Thanks for posting!
Thank you, this is so much more thorough than the video put out by the company that I bought my drawer straps from!
This was extremely useful! I actually bought the product because of you and just finished installing it. Thank You :)
+srisai youtube hi there. Glad it helped.
Thank you so very much, perfect for my, also sagging drawers! Got the same kit from eBay and now feel equipped to do the same job, until seeing this, I had no idea how to fix my problem, thank you!
Thank goodness your still here. Thanks a mill. Can't wait for my packs to come 👌🏽👍🏼
You're welcome. Thanks for taking the time to make the nice comment
Brilliant! Was going to buy a new chest of drawers but saw this, I bought the kit from ebay and my husband just fixed them. Thanks so much :)
Hi Vicki, glad to be able to help. Appreciate you taking the time to drop by and comment.
.
just found this - this has saved a lot of expense by either replacing the boards - or new drawers - your instructions were perfect thank you - smiled at your 'unease' with the word 'flange' lol! Thanks again.
+Paula Gale thank you, Paula, I hope they work for you. Haha! You're not the first to comment on the 'flange' thing!! ;-))
Great recommendation and perfect instruction. Just bought mine, got them today and fixed the drawers. Perfick, thank you.
Dave Cooper thanks for taking the time to add a great comment. I'm glad they worked.
Glad to be of service and thanks for the great comment.
Thank you so much for these instructions. It took me 3 hours....and now it's done. :)
Thank you for taking the time to write a great comment. I'm glad I was able to help.
Thank you so much for doing this. I just finished and it worked perfectly the first time because of your help! I suspect you saved me a ton of time and frustration!
You are very welcome. Thanks for taking the time to leave a great comment.
wow saw your video and purchaced these !!!! exellent used these for my malm drawers to stop sagging and theyve done the job, brilliant tutorial thank you so much !!!
Thanks, this was so useful. The 'instructions' that came with the kit were useless. Couldn't have done it without your video
+pearl lindy you are very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to comment
The kit came, fixed me sagging draws and your instructions are absolute genius 👍🏽. Loved 'em. Thanks. Must try not to overload 😲😆
Nice one😎
Hi brilliant system the instruction were very clear however great idea to show you how to put the straps on. the great thing is my wife's drawers are now no longer sagging and they are now nice and tight, great video thanks.
Love the title!
I'm quite proud of the title!! It's factually true though. They are the wife's drawers, they were sagging and I did fix them!! (Still fixed 3 years later!!) Cheers.
Most satisfying video I've watched in a while. Time to try this myself!
+k thank you. They do the job.
Excellent! Thank you! I had bought the product you are using but didn't quite understand the instructions. Glad you showed how to thread it.
Thank you for the great comment. Glad to be of help
Thanks for the video, offered a solution that I was not aware of. Brought some, fitted them and wow, they worked!! Particularly glad you showed how the thread the cord as the instructions were not realy that clear. At about a fiver for four off amazon saved me money too.
+tallman3 you're very welcome. Thanks for taking the time to leave a positive comment.
Thanks for posting this! I've never had an easy, successful way of fixing this type of drawer. These are also available on Amazon now, too!
+Bernie Strong Hi Bernie, glad to have helped😊
I ‘m going to give this a go. Thanks a lot for the clear instructions.
Thanks so much. I had the bottom fall out of a drawer from an antique dresser I have been painting for a client. I was hoping there would be some kind of bracket so I wouldn't have to wait for glue to dry as the dresser has to be delivered in a few hours. Not sure what we'll have like that in Texas, but I'm sure the hardware store will have something.
Quality ... Cheers mate ... Video helped. Wife been bugging me for ages about fixing the drawers.
Cheers Jai, they're a great little fix. Thanks for the positive comment
Thank you for this! I just fixed mine & they are fantastic!
+nicola jayne you're welcome.
Thanks for prompt feedback. No levers on mine so might try to unscrew. I have ordered the kit so will see how I get on. Such an annoying problem of modern furniture!
Thanks for this wonderful information, and what a cute accent you have.
You're welcome. Never had my accent described as cute before!! Thanks
Thanks for this tutorial. It was a simple and easy fix. Hoping it does the trick for my husband's sagging drawers!
+Windy Mariscal thank you, I'm sure they will.
I wish I had seen this video years ago. I bought those same exact items and the instructions were pretty useless. Couldn't figure out how to use them so drilled another hole in the larger bracket to compensate for how I could get it to work. Has worked for years but doing it the right way would have been wonderful LOL.
Thankyou so much for doing this, as a single parent I have to do everything. Myself.
I found that really useful. Very easy to follow too. Thankyou!
I followed the instructions - and it works. Thanks :)
You're welcome!
Great video thanks, but any tips as to how to get drawer to come out of side slider rails?
I'm currently having the SAME problem!! I thought I would have to spend $500 on a new "quality" dresser! Thank God I found this video!
There's a fix for nearly everything on RUclips!!
Thanks for the comment, now go spoil yourself with the money you've saved ;-))
Hi there. Glad to be of help. Good luck with ridding your home of sagging drawers!!. thanks for the great comment.
Thank you your demonstration and words to the pieces helped cause my girlie draw did the same, maybe you can come over and repair LOL
Thank you again for youtube. I do not think I would have managed without it. The instructions with kit are inadequate. I would suggest trimming the ends of the tape to make a narrower tongue that is easier to feed into the slots without fraying. I am still struggling with side rails of drawers :(
Thank you this is genius! Can finally fix my sagging makeup drawers
It looks a pretty good product. Simple idea.
And quite refreshing to see you do some work for a change Andy....ha ha ha!!!! Nice vid.
love the description of the drawer, great tip though, made these drawers last a lot longer.
What a clever fix for such a common furniture problem.
brilliant thankyou so much for showing me how to fix my drawers x
Nice one-makes my efforts with a bit of slotted angle look rather primitve but it lasted for years and her drawers were always sagging!
Life saver!!
Wife jsut showed me this, I saw the item on Ebay and thought "meh could not possibly work" then saw your video and it clinched the deal for me, you should get commission for this :)
Now that is neat - great job well done!
Wish I'd learned this stuff before. My drawers have been saggy for years! Many thanks.
It's a common problem. This video is quite old now, but still gets good views (though that may be the title)😎
It's Handy Andy lol!! That was a great bit of advice there, Andy, all flatpack drawers do this over time.....nice that your wife's drawers are no longer saggy!! :)
Thank you! Works a treat!
Glad to be of help. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the simplest way to fix a drawer off track
The directions that same with the kit weren't very clear to me. Thanks for the video. It helped fill in the gaps for me. Drawer is fixed and it took less time than it did to watch the video!! Thanks!!
+Jason A. Johnson doesn't sound like they've improved the instructions any.
I made the vid as short as possible ;-))
When will [they] start selling the furniture with the straps pre-installed?
Brilliant! Thank you.
Kind of you to say😀
You have made my day! I'd been planning to buy 3 foot strips of thin metal, take them to a metalworks to have them cut to size and drilled with screw holes, then realized they would also sag. This is a lifesaver, as I love the design of these dressers. Happy holidays to you!
Hi Gail, thank you for the great comment. Glad to have able to help. Seasons greetings to you.
+smilertiler1 I have an easier solution just go to a thrift store and buy a cheap set chest of drawers or perhaps a yard sale
That's a genius little device.
Very useful - thanks Sir!
You are very welcome. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Yay! Love How-To vids! Catchy title!
Smiler Bar, that sounds nice!
Thumbs up from me, brother!
p.s. I am looking into building a pallet shed, I'll keep ya posted! :b
Is there a similar solution for pulling the sides of the cabinet together? They must have come apart when we dragged the chest of drawers along the carpet moving it. Got any ideas please?
+Mark Price not sure if this product would work sideways as it may get in way of 'runners' when opening.
I have this idea of a bodge that involves two threaded hooks or eyes. With the panel out, screw one hook or eye into both sides below where panel goes. Put panel back and tie some string or wire between the hooks.
With another hook, twist the wire or string so it tightens pulling the sides together. When tight enough, tape string down with strong tape to stop it unwinding.
Hope this helps.
This is brilliant! Thanks! Quick question: do you only need one strap per drawer or would it be better to have two straps for each drawer?
Hi there, thank you. It depends on the width of the drawer and how heavy you intend to load it. I believe the product recommends two straps per drawer but I've found on drawers these size, one in the middle is plenty.
I had this problem with my Hemnes dresser. I took the bowed bottom out, flipped it over, and put it back together. It hasn't bowed since (over a year).
+Kayla Lahti I don't doubt it, Kayla.
Don't know Hemnes but guessing the drawers I'm fixing here are inferior but alas more common. Thanks though ;-))
Hi I can't seem to find the place where you purchased the fittings, can you let me know where you got them from as the eBay ones don't have as many feeding hoops in the brackets such as yours...Thanks and great vid
Hi there. I typed 'fix a drawer' in ebay's search bar and loads came up from different sellers. The design may have changed, this vid is 3 years old now.
Let me know if you don't find them and I'll post some of the sellers names for you to search.
Thank you for the video...wish I had a man to fix my sagging draws 😣
You're welcome😀
That looks easy enough! I'd better ger the drill on charge then! Thank you :)
thanks for that, will give it a go, also.. we bought 2 chests of draws from argos, and both side panels have bowed slightly, causing the drawers to keep falling out..asthe gap is slightly bigger, do you have any tips or ideas on fixing that.
Robert Miller You could prob still use these fix a drawer things but you'd have to use both brackets externally or internally on the underside of the drawer (If that makes sense, without seeing the drawer, its hard to advise) they definitely give you enough strapex to do a sideways fix.
Thanks for watching.
I really need this!
I always try the least expensive and easy way first. It's quite effective usually for not a lot of effort.
I had to fix a drawer and I just had a flat metal strip that I ran diagonally across underneath. All the fixes that I have seen on RUclips don’t fix my new problem but I don’t think they are great solutions because the material itself sucks. I think the best idea would be to replace it with plastic or metal or some thing better than cardboard but then again maybe that’s not worth it
Thank you so much for this video, I have the same issues with mine. However, how do you get the bloody drawers out to fix them? Please do a video of this process! Thank you!
Hi Nikki. there are a couple of screws that fit through the drawer into the metal 'runner'. just unscrew these but make a note of which holes in the runner the screws go into!
An earlier commenter (mollydog44) has just the video for this if my instructions don't make sense.
Thanks for the comment ;-))
+smilertiler1 .....Ha! I just found Molly's video! Thanks for the quick reply, I know what I'm doing this weekend! Now I wonder what I'll find behind the drawers that feel behind. I adore you!
THANKKKK YOUUUU FOR THIS VIDEO!
You're very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to comment
Would this work on a divan bed base? I have drawers on mine and because there’s nothing supporting the edge where the drawers are it’s created a huge dip and the top has come away from the main frame
Hi there. I'd imagine they would. These stop the weight of the contents pushing the front and rear sides of the door from spreading apart lett the drawer bottom bow and stop the draw opening.
My dresser’s drawers sag little bit more. Is it ok if I just get piece of flat wood and nail it to both ends of bottom of the drawer? Maybe more than one piece of flat wood?
There are many ways to solve the problem. Your way may work if you add glue into the equation.
Thank you!! 👍
+Jenny Lala you're welcome 😊
I have had a look online but sliderbars shown there have a lever to release the drawer, none apparant on mine :( I suppose I could remove the back of the case but that seems bit sledgehammer approach.
Hi Anne, Thanks for your view, your share and comments. On this model the rails are simply screwed to the drawer. I have come across the lever you mention. The catches are normally hooked and have to be prised up or down to release the drawer.
Great video. 25,000 views is great! I subscribed. I'm Cara from Idaho. I see we have some of the same RUclips friends. Nice to meet you.
Hi Cara from Idaho. Thanks for the sub, I have returned the compliment :-))
I am also cara from
Idaho! Imagine my surprise when I saw this comment! 😂
I can't seem to get the screw through the chip board... Any ideas?
Use a 3mm drill to drill a pilot hole for the screw. Only drill about halfway into the piece you're drilling into. Hope that helps
I keep having the problem of a sagging drawer under my bed. This is partly due to me putting too much in it and also how cheaply made they are. I have had yet another clear out of stuff under my bed so I hope it helps it not to sag even more. I may get my dad to have a look at this so he can fix them for me.
Emma Riley Hi Emma, the weight we load into them and the flimsiness of the board at the bottom of the drawer combine to make the problem. These kits stop the drawer pulling apart, letting the flimsy board bow.
I made this vid because the instructions that come with the kit aren't always that clear.
If your dad uses these they will work.
This is great!!!! I need this but they don't deliver to the US, do you have any other ideas?
Hi Rebecca, I'm hopefully going to make a video soon of an alternative way to achieve the same results using items from hardware stores. Thanks for watching.
Rebecca Spigner It looks like this company deliver to the US: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fix-A-Drawer-Repair-Sagging-Buckled-Chest-of-Drawers-Mend-Broken-Furniture-DIY-/271379342386?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT#shpCntId
We can't seem to get the drawers out of the cabinet in the first place, the rails they slide on prevent them coming out. Any ideas?
Adam Paxton hi Adam, the may be a retaining screw somewhere on the glider. Thru are usually on the outside of the drawer going through th body of the drawer into the glider.
smilertiler1 that's great found it! Thanks :)
Thanks
Where can I buy this kit?
Karen Anslow Hi karen, I bought mine off eBay but a recent commenter says they're on Amazon too.
google 'fix-a-drawer'
Where the link to the bracket kit or name please?
No link, but if you Google fix-a-drawer or fix a drawer you'll find them.
Can't find where to buy the brackets pls
Are you in UK?
cool little things they are. i have a few drawers that need fixing. Just hope the misses doesnt see this video LOL
Wonderful!! I'm putting a hacked IKEA chest in the kitchen and must reinforce the drawers for the heavy items I'm storing. I really appreciate the name of the company where you bought the support. Cheers.
Hi there, I bought these off of ebay (UK).write 'fix a drawer' in the search bar. They are still being sold on there by several different sellers. Good luck with the repair.
very good Andy but believe it or not have not got any draws to sag lol , thumbs up
What's up with a bit of glue mate ..
Thx. 😅
Yeh these type of draws are not really fit for purpose. Got one from argos. Not even had it a year an draw bottoms gone. Draws only had knickers an socks in them. Barely even half full. What a load of garbage. Thanks for tip. What do you call these for the purpose of the search bar? Just out of interest.
Google fix a drawer.
wait lmao. i have the exact same drawer. did you find that it doesnt close all the way?
Hi. Yes exactly that. The board they put in the bottom of the draw is too flimsy.
But these gadgets do work.😊
Just wanna say, I received the kit yesterday, Installed it on 3 drawers in about 25 minutes. Super easy. Thanks for the video
They want $60 plus $5 CDN on Amazon for a two pack. It would cost me over $100 to fix one dresser, which is probably what the dresser is worth now. I'm super bummed because this looks like a great solution to my "sagging drawers"! Great video though!
missmamamoon that does sound expensive. Might pay to shop around as they are becoming more available in UK, might be the same in US.
Excellent video, thank you. Currently £12.99 for 4 on a eBay (free delivery)! Bargain!!
Best thing is.......they work!! Thanks for watching and the great comment.
Ann Roberts What is the name of the product?
How long did it last?
Hi there. It lasted for years before we got rid of chest of drawers. I reckon they'd still be working today if we still had it.
@@smilertiler1 that’s good news. Thank you!
bloody hell you don't want to see I did to the last ikea crap I pulled apart. Lots of glue & plenty of screws also a good motto XD
my Ikea drawers do this....THANKS! I have been living with sagging drawers for 3 years.
Hi there, glad you found this video helpful. Nothing worse than sagging drawers!! Thanks.
yeah...and I have been hammering small nails around the seams...ruins the drawer.
these do seem to be the answer. hope you havent ruined your drawers so much that you cannot use them
***** well....I ordered my fix a drawer today. $20.00 USD for a 2 pack. It ships from the UK. We USA folks probably can go to Home Depot and fashion some ourselves for $5, but I have too many tedious projects to do.... I will update if I find some brackets there in the future. :))))
***** Perfect. installed them. Thanks for the tip! Your a lifesaver!
Hey Andy, from the title of your video when it came up on my sub list. I thought you were going to get a sewing machine out. You still got a bit of smut into your video when you used the word "flange". lol. Cheers mate, VB Ed.
Thanks! Fixing my own, don’t need a husband to do it! ;)
Nice one😎
Your title alone made me laugh, but this is my problem currently. I am not finding the product on United States Amazon, but I find it on UK Amazon. This is definitely at my minimal skill level. I hope to find something soon!
Hi Summer. Try ebay. many of the views and comments are from the US, no one has ever said the product isn't available there
***** Thanks. I do not use Ebay after an experience with bad customer service after they let someone use my account (hacked) to bid on two Macbook Airs during a time they wouldn't even let me use my account because I had changed my name after I married.
maybe a friend who's had less probs could order them for you.
"Most of us shop at the large Scandinavian shops." Precisely why I am here. Gonna look for that product and see if it available here in the US.
Hi. I'm pretty sure they're available on ebay in the US. Search for 'fix a drawer'. Thanks for watching.
"Good-afternoon Sir. How are you?"
"Thank you, so much for the useful information." 👱
Yours Faithfully
Mr Francesca Al Kray.
you can come and fix my draws. iv pushed in that much i pushed out the bottom on a few
Like a true tradie bloke!
