it's actually very recommendable if you can otherwise prevent breeding to not desex dogs until they're well over a year old (preferably several years), as both spaying and neutering have clear statistically significant negative health impacts that are worse the younger the dog is when it's desexed (both types of sex organs' hormone production has relevance to the healthy development of other body parts). in many cases, desexing young dogs does overall make sense because non-lethal population control takes precedent, but if a young dog is kept apart from other dogs it could breed with by very attentive owners, and isn't wreaking havoc with any behaviours that would best be fixed with desexing (which in many cases could probably be fixed better with more exercise), it often is the better choice to not desex them at all, or not until halfway through their life.
although I still do judge anyone who buys a dog as a mere pet instead of adopting one of the many otherwise at risk of being euthanized, and of course in most places, most animal shelters and rescue organisations desex all dogs. but it would be nice if they found a different system to avoid desexing dogs under 1-2 years of age. maybe they could make people pay a deposit in the high hundreds to low thousands of dollars, and when they bring the dig back to be desexed when it's old enough, the, get the money back. of course that would still mean some risk of accidental breeding in the meantime, but if a dog is desexed at 2 years old, that still means that for most of its life it can't breed, so most of that risk is removed. and the deposit for very young dogs could have the positive side effect of making more people adopt older dogs, which really for probably the majority of people is the better option.

@@Ass_of_Amalek yeah unfortunately my family had this experience...we were kinda lied to about how old our pup was and by accident cut his balls too early so now he's got a big body but smaller head and I'm assuming it's because the hormone imbalance stunted some of his growth he's super goofy lookin and he's a very "no thoughts head empty" kind of dog
@@abbie_joan I haven't heard of such an effect, and it seems a little unlikely to me. the only thing I'm aware of is microcephaly (in humans, but may exist in dogs), but that is already apparent at birth.

To be fair, those clickity-clicks are very relaxing (as long as the scissors are held by someone who knows what they're doing). There was this barber near where I used to live; he'd never push your head this way and that, he'd go around and be absolutely gentle. And yes, I will admit I fell asleep a couple times in his chair.
I totally get that. Before I moved, the barber I used to go to would do the same. Very calming and relaxing.

I really hope his full name really is "the fabulous fred" and not just fred. My daughter named our chihuahua "mr. Peanut biscuit the marvelous" when she was 6. Now she's 11 and just calls him peanut. But when the vet calls to remind us about boosters or appointments, they always use his full name.
I have a chinchilla named Mary Destroyer of Worlds….nobody from the vets office has ever made it through reading her name without giggling

I had one ferret named Prince Edward the Magnificent, and the other was Jack Black.
My mom calls her rottweiler “big sexy man” as a joke and she said that at the vets office and they overheard and called out “big sexy man” when it was time for his appointment. We didn’t realize they were trying to bring our Charlie back to get his shots until someone walked up to us and we couldn’t stop laughing and had to make it known his name is actually Charlie. (It was a new vets office)
My boy was named Mastah Flamez. Always a treat to hear the vet or groomer on the phone say his name lol

There is a Korean grooming channel called “shu and tree”. They use little jacuzzi tubs with herbs in them for the dogs to chill in and nearly ever dog falls asleep during their groom. It’s so funny to see.

I have been incredibly blessed to have had 2 Pomeranian and they are some of my favorite dogs ever. They are sweet, lovable, energetic little balls of fluff...but heaven help you if one gets loose. We chased my 1 year old little boy for six blocks before he was tired enough to let us catch him.
Those zoomies are absolutely top-tier. Well done, Fred.

@@katsu9582 well he's a rez dog so I'm sure he has other stuff, those are just the most apparent. He's not very tall so he probably has some medium breeds in there. Though to be fair all the labs and lab mixes here are smaller than I'm used to.
All his siblings around town look just like him too, its like their mom copy pasted and just changed the white marks on the neck and chest around a little for each.

🤔 Interesting thought, I'd be curious about animals in general too. When I was 8 years old, I did my science fair project on what kind of music my guinea pig liked best. Got some definite reactions from her between Rock, Country, and Classical.

@@oxnyxws fear not. It doesn't stick out all the time. Just when he is relaxed! He pulls it in ALL the time. You have seen but three and a half mins of compiled footage. He is most comfortable, ALL of the time!
