Marie, you are one amazing woman! Only someone who truly loves what they do, and also someone who selflessly imparts their knowledge and experiences to others, can put in so much effort. I really enjoy following your channel and page, because everything is explained so systematically and in detail, which is of great help to us who are beginners. Thank you so much!
Simona, you've put a massive smile on my face and my heart is positively glowing ❤️ Thank you so much for your kind words-I'm thrilled my content is helping you learn and grow as a maker!
Sugar scrubs were one of the products I could do best. I couldn't sell not one damn jar, but they were good. Now I stick to face care products. But those scrubs with silica or Lamesoft PO 65 kind of got me thinking. Great video, as always.
This is something I’m going to try since the store I had been buying my soap scrub closed earlier this year, and I love using a soap scrub. Thanks for the perfectly timed post. Off to buy the ingredients. ⭐️💛
So. I may not be the first one to comment. But I may be the first one to say "I made that! It's cooling right now" Thanks for sharing Marie, it looks fabulous. Can't wait to shower tomorrow morning :D
I like this formulation bc you're not using an already whipped base to make the foam... love it, can't wait to try it out. Just got to get the ingredients 😁😁🥰🥰 and TY
If you wanted to add 2% of a liquid extract like calendula or aloe extract what percentage could you take away from? Could you take away from the distilled water?
Hi! I love the formula. I have done it a couple times using jojoba beads. I was wondering if instead I could use grounded coffee. I want to make a coffee scrub. 😊

Wow, thank you! ❤️ I have linked to instructions for scaling up in the free partner blog post, but haven't done it myself. WOW!!! This scrub looks amazing. My questions are as follows: If I use Germall Plus(0.5%) do I add 1% of distilled water bringing the water content to 89.9g? I thought that is what I heard but cannot find that conversation on any video. Many thanks Joni
This is really amazing,I have always looked for a foaming sugar scrub cause I love a cleansing scrub and you just made this easy, thank you so much for sharing this for free

Amazing scrub formula. Will love to try it out. Can you pls make an emulsified body scrub without sugar .mayb with jojoba beads or any other exfoliants
Marie, Could glyceral sterate and PEG100 9creammakers blend) making cosmetics be a adequate substitute for the Rita mulse SCG? I have about everything but the Ritamulse. I have olivem 1000, soft and silky generic e wax nf polowax, and others I don't remeber. I looked at your encylopedia but did not have a clear understanding if I substituted Olivem 1000 would I then need a co emulsifier like glyceral sterate SE. TIA
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this!! I've been testing SO many formulations, I've almost given up. I absolutely LOVE the way this feels. I tested it out in the sun for a bit (75 degrees F) and it did get quite runny. Is there anything I can add/change to make it melt a bit less? The only difference in what I used was Coconut oil rather than the oil you used. Maybe I could add steric acid or bees wax or maybe more emulsifying wax, thoughts?
Thanks for watching! You'll find the answer to your question in the "Substitutions" section of the free partner blog post. It's linked in the description box below the video ;) If you're not sure what that means, read this: www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/whats-the-description-box-on-youtube/. Happy making!
As much as I LOVE this creamy foamy scrub, there's an underlying smell that I dislike - I think it's the Decyl Glucoside. Is there a substitute or different foaming formulation that you've discovered that I could try?
So the secret often seems to be emulsion, emulsion, emulsion! Thank you very much, that's a game changer! Do you think you could do a super Simple Emulsified Sugar Scrub video showcasing this technique in the future? I got rather distracted for the longest time trying to figure out why I probably shouldn't swap for the gentler/less-basic surfactants that I already own in this particular formulation (for those who are stumped by this too, I think the higher pH surfactants were selected to accommodate the acidity of the re-fatting agent, Lamesoft, which is definitely not something I planned on purchasing in the near future). I still don't know haha 😅 I think a "Simple Emulsified Scrub" or "Emulsified Scrub 3 Ways" would be high demand & help address some of the swap questions here
Just to throw it out there, I've limited myself to SLSa, SCI, & Cocamidopropyl Betaine since I want to use them in so many other formulas, therefore they're justified beginner purchases in my book. I know the foam won't be as fluffy, but I do hope I can still make it work in an emulsified sugar scrub without too much pH fuss 🥺
I make sugar lip scrubs and lately I’ve had a few people asking me about edible lip scrubs. I doubt the slsa or ritamulse is edible so what would be a better option for an edible lip scrub? Thank you in advance.
I'd definitely approach an edible formulation differently; search "white chocolate lip scrub" at www.humblebeeandme.com/search for a starting point :) You'd want all the fats to be food grade, which is pretty easily done with that formulation. Happy making!

Can't wait to try this recipe, but I'll have to get a couple more ingredients first. I'd like to know where you got the little glass plate you weighed the bursting beads on, please? I've been looking for them but not having any luck. Love this video and yes, your hair is gorgeous!! ❤

Yes, you can replace Decyl glucocide with Coco glucoside, but that will not make for a total of 7% Coco glucoside because Lamesoft® PO 65 is Coco Glucoside AND Glyceryl Oleate. Have you read the free partner blog post yet? 😉 You should!
Love this! ❤️ Im just wondering when choosing preservative what come up on your mind? Why did you choose optiphen llus instead liquid germal plus? ☺️ Can we have video on deep dive about preservative 🙈
Eh... I can't really remember for this one since I started work on it back in June. I've generally been trying to use a broader array of preservatives to get a better idea for how they work since it's something I get lots of questions about :)

If those links aren't applicable for your country, please check out my massive list of places to shop all over the world (humblebeeandme.com/resources). Happy making!
Have you tried using regular old emulsifying wax? I have never tried formulating with cosmetic grade mineral oil or petrolatum but I don't really see why it wouldn't work. For glycerin, it comes down to a matter of taste. Too much and it can feel sticky and unpleasant. What I would do is try one of the basic humblebee and me lotion recipes and directly replace whatever oil is used with liquid petrolatum/mineral oil and go from there.
Thank you for another great episode! I had a quick question about the bursting beads, will they expand in this formula or could you put them in the water portion first to expand them so they would burst when used?
They'll expand slowly in this; you could add them to the water phase, but I'd probably skip the whipping at the end as they'll be more delicate and you'd likely burst at least a few of them. Happy making!
Thanks for watching! Please look up olivem 300 in the Humblebee & Me Encyclopedia at www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/ for substitution suggestions. Happy making!
So I'm thinking about making a scrub following your recipe, however I live in a apartment and I'm worried about the Slsa going through the vents, I don't want my neighbors smelling it, I don't know how strong it is, I never worked with that ingredient before. Also where did you get those glass bowls? Thank you
I don't think there's any need to worry about that-it's not stinky, it's just unpleasant to inhale. It also doesn't travel very far unless you blast it with a fan or something ridiculous like that. It's no more likely to make its way through the vents into your neighbour's home than icing sugar is :) The glass bowls are called "prep cups" and are easily found in kitchen supply shops, Target, etc. Happy making!
Hello Marie! I really want to make this scrub, but I cannot source Lamesoft po65 here in the US, is the more anything I can substitute it with. I’m also in your patron
You'd need to drop the foaming ingredients & replace them with something else... I'd probably try making the lotion-y base larger :) Happy experimenting!
This looks lovely and I can’t wait to try! Two questions - it looks like Lamesoft PO 65 is naturally derived, am I correct? Also, I have a friend who loves salt scrubs, she says sugar isn’t scrubby enough for her legs. If I dropped the surfactants, included salt instead of sugar and upped the other creamy goodness do you think I that would work? As always I so enjoy your channel and find so much inspiration here to experiment and learn! Thank you.
Hi Brenda! I always link all the ingredients for any given formulation in the written version of the formulation in the free partner blog post, which is linked in in the written version of the formulation in the free partner blog post the description box below the video (that's one of the many reasons I highly suggest reading the blog post as well as watching the video! If you're not sure what I mean by the "description box", read this: www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/whats-the-description-box-on-youtube/.). Sometimes those links break because they're always off-site links, or sometimes the store I've linked to isn't in your country. That's why I also have a giant page of places to shop all over the world, which you can find here: www.humblebeeandme.com/resources/. It doesn't have every country in the world, but it does contain all the online stores I know about. If your country isn't listed, that's because I don't know about any online stores in your country. You could try looking for a local Facebook group for people who like making soap & other cosmetics-they may be able to recommend places to shop.
This formulation is approximately 99% natural, and completely safe. I hope you can appreciate that I'm not setting out smear to poison all over myself 😉
@Humblebee & Me lol thank you for the assurance is hard to come by ingredients that are 100% non toxic etc.. would you say versagel is petroleum free & non toxic and all clean ingredients?
I'm afraid it's impossible to make anything "chemical free". Water, the air we breathe, and spinach are all chock full of chemicals. This formulation is ~99% natural, though :)
I made a foaming scrub that ended up separating. I'll try this formula making some changes.... I have Glyceryl Oleate and Coco Glucoside but I don't have that Lamesoft PO 65... I wanna work with what I have :)
Look up Lamesoft PO 65 in the free Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/) for guidelines on doing exactly that ;) Happy making!
I really don't want to work with anything that requires a mask. Can I sub all of the foaming surfactants with a blend? INCI is Coco Glucoside, Decyl Glucoside, Sodium Cocoyl Apple Amino Acids, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate
Iam waiting for your wonderful videos .but I don't have lamesoft po 65 but it's component are avaliable can u tell me their ratio with each other to make lamesoft po 65

Hi instead of the decyl glucoside can I use extra coco glucoside so that will be 7%.
Yes, you can replace Decyl glucocide with Coco glucoside, but that will not make for a total of 7% Coco glucoside because Lamesoft® PO 65 is Coco Glucoside AND Glyceryl Oleate.

This formulation is approximately 99% natural, and completely safe. I hope you can appreciate that I'm not setting out smear to poison all over myself 😉
@Humblebee & Me lol thank you for the assurance is hard to come by ingredients that are 100% non toxic etc.. would you say versagel is petroleum free & non toxic and all clean ingredients?
any way to make these chemical free? None of my customers will buy anything with those additives
I'm afraid it's impossible to make anything "chemical free". Water, the air we breathe, and spinach are all chock full of chemicals. This formulation is ~99% natural, though :)
How would u sell this for a readonable price to me this seems like each one is gonna cost a lot of money
I prefer to putting jojoba beads in my soap recipe. It’s the same.
❤❤❤
I really don't want to work with anything that requires a mask.
Can I sub all of the foaming surfactants with a blend?
INCI is Coco Glucoside, Decyl Glucoside, Sodium Cocoyl Apple Amino Acids, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate
You can definitely try it! It should work, the final consistency just might be a bit different.
Its self life

Sorry, I know my question is not in reference to this video. I have a question for you. Do you have a formal for “a whipped sugar scrub?”
I've shared many anhydrous self-emulsifying whipped sugar scrubs over the years-they're linked in the free partner blog post :)
