MLS has grown so huge, waooooo, is a blessing to sports in the United States and all over the world. The World cup in the United States is gonna be amazingly crazy.
Can't wait. Gonna watch the Copa America in NJ, get to see Messi whenever he plays in the Tri-State area and hopefully the World Cup Final!! Nothing surprising about Messi Mania.. he's the greatest athlete in the worlds most popular sport. The one people that are suprised are the people that only watch mainstream sports shows like ESPN and First Take etc.. The streets and the people love tha 🐐
Good reply regards the Beckham- Messi comparison. It was a different time. Beckham raised the public profile and was exactly what was needed back then. Now the league has gone up a few notches, it now needs something much bigger (the real deal) than the Beckham era hence the MLS now has Messi. Nearly all the top players rely heavily on physical prowess/ athleticism but the strength of Mess is his first touch, free-kicks obviously, his ability to generate power with little backlift but his main asset is his soccer IQ/ intelligence. Almost like in The Matrix film he seems to have this ability to stop time, study the field positions and make the perfect run or perfect pass, all done in a split second. My point is that many of Messi's attributes will still be strong even when he's 40. Also it was a shrewd move to join the MLS where he's put personal and family happiness above professional challenge, he's achieved everything in the game so no longer needs to be in the best league where he would be kicked around by opposition defenders trying to stop him at any cost and he would also receive open hostility and abuse from opposition fans and sometimes even from his own fans. Yes, much better to compete in the US and build a legacy in a new territory.
I wouldn't say all the top players rely on strength and athleticism. There is alot more like that nowadays but the best still rely on natural ability and the other things you mentioned. The likes of foden, palmer, bernardo, maddison , pedri and salah to name a few
Fantastic reply. Thanks for contributing to my channel and this community. A lot of really good points. Hopefully you’re right at Messi is still great until 40
The reason the hype and everything around Messi is booming , ( and still continue to do so ) , is the fact that everyone anticipated his talent to decline ... but clearly it is NOT the case .. He just love football , and he is pretty darn good in it ..😂 The guy is awesome to watch , the older he gets ... Id even say for the way he plays , its still easy to fit in at any high pace European club ..

I think that’s a good point. For people who only know NFL/NBA, you don’t realize how popular and important he is
MLS has a global view now
Yep definitely. Good to see.

I agree. Seems like MLS fans are appreciating it
