It reminds me quite a bit of the Viltrox 85mm f1.8 Version 1 and Version 2. I wonder if they're licensing the lens design out to other manufacturers now that they've got their PRO line lenses coming out like the 75mm f1.2.
I don't think this is a rebranded Viltrox lens. Meike made a lens like this for DSLR's a while back. I think this is that lens, they rehoused it and added a mirrorless adapter, maybe some new coatings.
@@AndreiDimaReviewsit is 100% a DSLR lens just rehoused and remounted. I have it for the Z Mount and outside of purple fringing, I'd say it isn't terrible for a budget lens. Although the Viltrox is a lot better in my opinion. Also, this lens is it bit narrow due to the rehousing causing it to be more like an 87-89mm.
Hey there! I recently got my hands on the Fujifilm X-H2S, mainly for video purposes. After going through your videos, I'm still a little unsure about which lens to go for. I'd love to hear your take on which lens delivers the best quality, strikes the right balance in terms of specs for video, and ultimately offers the best bang for the buck. I'm considering three options: the 18-55 kit lens priced at $690, the 18-120 f4 PZ priced at $850, and the 18-135 f3.5 priced at $800. Thank you so much for your insights!
The lens I use for video 90% of the time is the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8, I think it is the best fit for the Fujifilm X-H2s. The range is great and the autofocus is amazing on the X-H2s. All my recent video intros were filmed using this combo. This is what I would get. But if you want a Fuji lens the 18-55mm is great for video, try to get one second hand it is a lot cheaper.
Looking for a 75/85mm lens. Size matters for me as I need to carry my gear around a lot. TTArtisan's 75mm f2 being smaller is very appealing. Any thoughts?
very interesting lens, however I'm more voted for cine lenses. Maybe 7artisans 25mm T1.05 At the moment I'm living, I'm more into cinematographic videos, despite having several lenses for manual and non-automatic photography. This would be a good option for taking street shots without losing focus.
CA seems to be a real problem. Sort of the whole point of these 'fast' lenses is too shoot wide open. If you always need to stop down to get decent results it sort of defeats the purpose of having a fast aperture in the first place. So there is that.
Question for you! I noticed you’re shooting in DCI and I’ve been wanting to shoot dci over uhd lately. But when I view it on the camera’s LCD, there is a noticeable crop at the top and bottom when switching from uhd to dci. This is different from cameras like bmpcc where the top and bottom stay the same and the image just extends from the sides to give more pixels. SO, the question is, when you bring fuji DCI footage into your NLE to edit, is the information that was cropped actually visible in post and do you get more horizontal reach? In other words, was the fuji lcd cropping just to fit the dci look on the screen… but not actually cropping footage?
Great review. How much does this lense cost? I think I missed it.😂 For entry level recreational shooters, why not get this just to play around?!?!?! Cool stuff.
Watching the video convinced me to buy it even more, very good review, very clear, but it is not in stock on the official website until the end of May HAHAHAHAHA🤣🤣🤣
great overview!! I'm definitely interested in this focal length. Thanks for the video.
Thank you! It's a nice budget lens.
great review, as always practical and concise, covering enough.
Glad you liked it!

Great review again Andrei it is an interesting lens 😌☺️
Thank you!

The TTArtisan is not available for Fujifilm X. I think Meike is going to release a Pro version of the 85mm f1.8, smaller and with an aperture ring.
I can't believe you can get this for $200 new!! I do wish it were closer to 50mm but this is a good length too.

It's a nice street photography and travel lens. I reviewed the 25mm T1.05 if you are interested: ruclips.net/video/JOmA_4ef934/видео.html

So there is that.
True, but there are more expensive lenses that perform worse than this one and CA is not that hard to remove in post. Sadly LOCA is.
How would it fit in my x t-20? I was looking for a cheap telephoto for fun and this looks great, but I'm no sure about the size
It is a big lens but it is not heavy, so it could fit your X-T20.
@@AndreiDimaReviewsthanks for answering, finally I just bought mine
Cool, I hope you enjoy it!

Sorry for the late reply. You don't get extra horizontal reach with DCI compared to normal 4k. What you see on the screen is what you get in post.
Will this be compatible with my Fujifilm XT3?
Yes.

Thank you! It costs only 200$😂
Did he mention it was 200? :)
How would it compare to the 90mm f2?
The 90mm f2 is better.
Rebranding of Viltrox 85 1,8?
No.
Which is better Viltrox 85mm or this Meike?
Sorry, I never used the Viltrox.
Will this compatible with Fuji XS10
Yes, when you get the lens instal the latest firmware update.
Gracias, estoy muy tentado 😊
De nada.

this or viltrox 85 mm at same price ?
Hard to tell because I never used the Viltrox.
Can’t find it in Europe…
It is available now on Amazon.
The fact that this thing may have like a $90 resale value is insane lol . 3rd party fuji is in a good place and growing consistently
Yes it is.
