Looks great! For those interested, the six RASA 11 telescope mount was made by Xerxes Scientific which is my company.
And there's a Quad-Rasa 11 set-up in the Weiner Observatory in Arizona :) just visited it :)

At this price, I wish it had been using a cooled IMX585 sensor, and had included a wedge and PAA routine for astrophotographers!

Based on specs yes its the best, based on price, a terrible option for beginners. The Dwarf II and Seestar 50 are far more approachable for someone new to the hobby.
@@gernader8 Yes. Agreed. $4k is steep. There are more inexpensive options, as you mentioned. I'm gunna guess that Celestron wants this product to be more higher-tier than those two others. Some beginners in hobbies may prefer to get the highest quality product instead of starting at the lower tier and ultimatley spending more working their way up to the higher tier. I like the larger aperture, ability to change filters, RASA tech, and camera sensor. The Seestar 50 has received fantastic reviews. As for ROI, that has been the winner. I imagine, however, that compared to the similarly priced Unistellar eVscope 2 (ie. ruclips.net/video/hW5NC8vSsZQ/видео.html), this Celestron entry will trounce it. Of course, hands-on reviews will let us know what the ROI is for this new portable auto-telescope. I have a RASA 8 and while the OTA is les expensive, it still needs all the other tech, purchased separately, to do it amazing work. I am very curious to hear the reviews in the months ahead.
Vaonis' Vespera and future Vespera Pro are much more interesting for astrophotography!

The Vaonis Stellina is $4k but this is so much more telescope. It’s not just a six inch telescope, it’s a six inch f/2.2 telescope, and that’s huge because it’s six times faster than those other f/5 telescopes, make those 15 second exposures equivalent to 90-seconds on the other smart telescopes. Though I’ll admit, I was also underwhelmed by the example photos but I’m also willing to believe that’s a v1 software issue. If they can get the star bloat under control to really highlight the nebulosity they will have a real winner.

Been doing this with my HyperStar'd C8 and ASI Air for a number of years now. The built in autofocus is a nice plus.

Very impressive. Thank you for advancing smart telescope optics from the tiny initial systems currently available. I’m getting one of these bad boys. I’ll place it next to my 14” Edge HD. While I’m imaging the planets, Origin will be quietly working away imaging deep space objects.

Can the camera be rotated for proper framing?
Well that’s a pretty snazzy telescope. I must say seems like really cool technology but with the needed accessories and tax added it comes in just shy of $5,000. That’s kind of a stretch for a backyard amateur like me so I’ll stick with my $500 Seestar S50.
How do you get $5000 out of $4000?

The future upgradability is why im in (previously a Stellina owner, now a seastar owner, I'm committed to EAA scopes as they suit my lifestyle). The ease of setup and use is brilliant, but right now, when you buy an EAA, you have to replace the whole scope when there is a better sensor out... Celstron with their comment of the camera may be upgradable resolves this... the optics and mount stay te same but I can just upgrade the camera module... Well done Celestron, I'm in!
15 years ago I bought a celestron optical telescope. But this electronima telescope amazes me, it is exactly what I need. I would definitely buy one. It has everything I need and there is no need to waste time with special image processing programs. Thank you Celestron.

You should have released two smart telescope models. One for $1,500 and a premium one for $4,000. This is obviously the premium model. I’m thrilled Celestron is getting into smart telescopes but I’m afraid their sales will not hit the mark and this will be their only foray as I cannot see astrophotography beginners buying this at this price point. And experienced users already have a better setup for less money. And lastly, if all the processing and stacking is being done onboard, I imagine it may have quite a bit of lag. But from the looks of it, it may be done on the app. I will wait for the reviews.
An 8" RASA tube would be at least $2000+. Evolution mount $1200. Starsense $450 IMX178MC $450. Electronic Focuser $250 Add in dew heater, filter drawer, automated control, Lithium Ion on board. To build an 8" Evolution version would definitely be more.
Consider comparing it to Vaonis' Stellina, it has nearly 2x light gathering and wider field.
Yes it's not the cheap entry of the Seestar S50, but it's focus is serious going for 6" when Vaonis was offering a 150mm refractor for $10K

I'm impressed
Its very interesting to see the telescope industry move away from visual astronomy to point and click telescopes were no eyepiece is needed. Non the less, the Origin looks fantastic! Seems like they really did think of everything.
Will definitely help getting the kids and family involved in starfest events, all at the touch of a button.
So the questions we have to ask...
1. Will it work on a wedge for equatorial imaging?
2. Is the camera going to be upgradeable?
3. Is there plans to create an Origin SCT with longer FL for optimizing for sub 1 degree targets including planets?
The control system on the back could be split between sides so one side handles the focusing system and the other the brains. Place it on a CPC and it would be a great addition.

I need more information. Does it have GPS and can it take movies with frame rate control with GPS based date-time-stamp on each frame?
I already have an EVO mount (used with my 9.25" SCT, will the OTA be available to use in conjunction with this?, also as with my existing mount will it work on an equatorial mount allowing longer exposures without field rotation?
Didn't mention avi videos which are necessary to do sun and moon well.
I already own a nexstar gps 11 and a Vaonis vespera. Was looking to upgrade to a vaonis vespera pro but the celestron origin has my eye!

Celestron, can you please fix CPWI software bugs around PEC playback that I reported 9 months ago? I already invested double-digit thousands of dollars into CGXL, 11 inch scope, aux equipment. Why are you prioritizing new products as opposed to investing in making existing customers successful?
If we can't resolve the issues with the current products, let's create a new product and discard the old one.
Buying a Celestron mount was my biggest mistake in 2023, and I won't consider this company again. Their products seem good on paper and in their videos, but customers are often disappointed when they receive the actual products.
@@linhdo6319 Celestron makes good optical assemblies. I love my RASA and SCT. However, mounts are poor quality and the best part, Celestron calls it "by design" :) No joke. The biggest and baddest CGX-L mount has a tracking error of 1 arcsec and Celestron says this is by design! This mount is meant to be used with 11 and 14 inch SCT with resolution of 0.49 arcsec/pixel. So the best and biggest mount is going to blur each image across 2 nearest pixels, by design! Disappointing...
@@MrScottless Yeah, I also love my C8 EdgeHD. But when I consider my CGX mount, I wonder why I invested $3,000 in a flawed machine. The mount occasionally loses alignment at night, requiring frequent realignment. It's frustrating.
Can the 6MP camera be upgraded?

Man the core of m42 is so blown out you cant even see the trapezium. can you stack shorter exposures with longer to bring out details more?
I have Celestron Nexstar SE 8 andi only use it three time and can I trade in for Origin?

1. Is there an option to use an EQ wedge to enable longer exposures and control over the composition?
2. Is the camera modular? Can we swap the camera out, e.g. for planetary photography vs wide field?

Yeah I need a good tripod for my scope. My scope is great but I want auto tracking.
Will the camera/optics upgradeable? the mount is not EQ that's a huge no no for astrophotography, $4000 for a device with built in obsolescence is a huge rip off
With a very fast F/2 scope you don't need an eq mount

@@nikaxstrophotography you do short exposure, no field rotation. You don't need lomg exposures with an F/2, because is really fast. A lot of people do this. Also this instrument does this. And keep calm.

@@nikaxstrophotography short exposures, at 300 mm focal lenght, have no problem of field rotation, it is so low that it's acceptable. In fact, a lot of good images are take like these with alt az mounts. Of course with an eq mount is better, because you can take much longer exposures. But you're discussing like a child, only laughing, not like an adult.
I like all the features, but was hoping for better eccentricity with 10-second subs. A good test to see if it competes with a Vespera 1 or Stellina in terms of image quality will be 500+ fits stacked and edited with PixInsight. I would like to see a smart scope capable of 30-second subs and 0.5 eccentricity or less.

Dude you people are taking the learning not to mention the appreciation out of doing the real work, which is the feeling of satisfaction of learning that comes with a real telescope. And trying to replace it with a robot telescope which isn't a telescope at all. If it's so great then why are people still buying real telescopes? People are still spending thousands of dollars on telescopes I know that I just bought the SE 6" by Celestron. I spent countless hours under the dark sky especially in winter viewing and photographing the Jupiter Saturn conjunction, the double star cluster and lots more. Doing the work and learning your way around the night sky is what's going to turn amateur astronomers into a professional and can be a game changer in landing a job even. Are teaching. But trying to Short cut Astronomy by using a AI telescope is ridiculous not to mention expensive.
Reminds me. I need to either start getting back to observing w my 1984 8” Celestron or sell it. It been difficult since Big C and surgery. I literally have to tell someone to set it up, screw by screw on it’s outdated tripod.
I will say it’s had a long run of showing youth groups and school children the night sky. Especially the planets.
Probably better to send it onto a new generation.
RASA optics on a smart package is amazing. A seperate OTA that can utilise older exisitng Evo mounts would be great!
EAA is fast advancing and becoming mainstream in astroimaging. It would be good if they also encourage enthusiasts to learn how to process the images. Looks like a fast food approach with all the ready-to-share images. Besides the RASA feature and front camera (for faster f-ratios), there is nothing else visually to distinguish it from Unistellar'esqe looks.
Hmm? You might as well download picture taken by JWST. If that thing had smarts to track a satellite and take an image in two modes: motion and/or still, I would be one of the first to purchase it.

This is the beginning of a whole new phase of amatuer astronomy. I believe that very soon, this will be the standard. Look-through scopes will be a thing of the past.

As nice as it looks: if it doesn't counter image rotation, you are severely limited by what you can do with it...
Well as it´s imaging very fast, youd don´t have to much rotation. and software will match the subs.
Great idea as usual however for $4000 it's a bit steep on the wallet for the aperture.

rasa optics are expensive and unistellar is not one. so why is theirs marketed the same price.

Can I download the picture in potrait form and can I remove the watermark of celestron origin??
The picture will only come out in one orientation. You would have to use your phone's editing commands to rotate it if you desire. The watermark can be hidden if you desire.
I believe the sensor is approximately 5.76 to 6.44 megapixels in resolution? Is this correct? Based on on the specs - "3096 x 2080 Sony Starvis CMOS sensor with 2.4 x 2.4µ pixels for finely detailed resolution"
Per the specs they use a Sony IMX178LQJ sensor

4k price tag seems steep at first glance, but IMO it's worth it. The mount, OTA, sensor etc. are all separate units. Heck, the onboard computer is just a raspberry pi 4. Meaning it is not only much more powerful right out of the box, it is also infinitely more upgradable and potentially hackable than any of its truly all-in-one competitors. In the long run it will probably retain value better than the seestar or whatever. If I had the budget for a third telescope, it will be this one 😂
For 4k it better retain it's value. Seestar is $500, great price point to get more people involved in the hobby.
I like celestron however any telescope I can't use visual is not a scope for me.

Camera needs to be wireless to avoid diffraction spikes from the wires. Been a problem with RASA forever.

Then I’m sorry to say you don’t understand what it is. This is for DSO Astrophotography. Eyepieces are fine for solar system objects when you have long focal length, that’s not what this is. This a short focal length, wide FOV, with a fast optical system. The entire RASA series are exclusively astrographs, they are design specifically for astrophotography, and are not compatible with visual observation.

I thought this looked pretty good but then I saw the price tag.
What do the moon and planets look like with this? Can it clearly image the rings of Saturn and the cloud belts on Jupiter?
Ya that's one of my concerns with this setup. F2.2 is quite fast for planetary work. You generally want slower scopes for more mag and bigger views of the planets for more details. I fear the planets will just be small dots with this fixed focal length and won't come out well on this system. Maybe some hands on reviews will prove me wrong.
RASA scopes are intended for low magnification deep sky photography. For planetary observation/photography, a regular schmidt cassegrain scope would be preferred. On the same mount you can mount all SCTs up to c9.25.

And what about collimation ? A RASA need, at least sometime, a good collimation.
RASA should be collimated straight out of the box, you return it if it's not. In this system the flattener housing to camera interface is collimated at the factory whereas if you buy a standard RASA you have to use the adapter for your specific camera and if something is wrong you have to adjust the tilt of the camera to compensate. We've been using video cameras for decades which have fixed lenses and sensors and unless you drop them they stay collimated.
But not EQ?

I learned the sky the old fashioned way by reading star charts and star hopping to get the subject in my eyepiece and was thrilled and had a sense of satisfaction.now anyone with a big enough wallet can sit on his couch being a passive participant

ill stick with my sharpstar f2.8 150mm and zwo294mc with my old avx mount lol half the cost and probably the same or better results. seems like a good idea but id want the OTA by itself and some option to have guiding for long exposure. if im limited to 10-15sec subs then nah its not for me. ill save my opinions till i see more real world reviews of this system looks promising maybe? lol
Steep price for equipment people will outgrow quickly. I'll stick to my GEM and traditional CMOS camera that blow this one out of the sky easily. Just need to learn the trade and be a bit more patient 😉

Looks Cool and sounds like a great idea, but would avoid this one. Would much rather recommend a modular system. If one electronic component goes then your toast.

WiFi? a what if you are out in the field? I guess you could have your phone act as a WiFi hotspot?
The Origin provides the Wifi signal that you pair your smartphone or tablet to it.
Going to be a hard sell at the this price point.
Celestron need to work on:-
1) Need Equatorial Mount.
2) Need size variant.
3) Need to reduce price.
Bit too expensive. $4,000 vs $500 for the ZWO Seestar. Although a superior EAA scope, I don't believe the advantages in this scope justify the large price difference.
