Check out this first time watching this bad sci-fi movie reaction video for Galaxina, and see if I can make it as a horror movie rookie. Horror is a genre I've barely explored, mostly because I'm a huge wuss. Typically my Halloween movie viewings consist of Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown. This year I decided to expand my horror movie knowledge and try and watch these horror movie fan favourites.

Stephan Macht, who plays Sgt. Thor, was also in Stephen King's Graveyard Shift, a 1990 horror movie you might wanna check out, Jen.
I cant believe they got to use the 1960s batmobile. That was awesome
Chandeliers in space ships? oh my.
I know Stephen Macht was in the cast of The Choirboys
Stephen Macht the guy that plays Sgt Thor was the dad in the movie Monster Squad.
Agreed 😎
I haven't seen that one 😬
@@ReelReviewsWithJen the monster squad classic movie saw it years ago on the dailymotion website 😎
@@ReelReviewsWithJen It's my go to Halloween movie. I highly recommend!
@@ReelReviewsWithJen yes you must watch monster squad and another movie by the same Director, night of the creeps, both great
The actress who played Galaxina was brutally murdered by a pimp named Paul Snider, whom used a pump action shotgun and killed her in her house. She was 20 years old and Snider Killed himself with the same gun he had purchased.
Thanks for that uplifting factoid lol
He was her husband. It's really the only reason that the movie became popular was to see her last movie. Bob Fosse made a movie out of Stratten and the murder called "Star 80" with Mariel Hemingway and Eric Roberts. Anyway, as far as Galaxina, I consider it a Guilty Pleasure LOL
Shaine I heard about that on RUclips 😎
Oh wow that's awful! So young! :(
@@ReelReviewsWithJen Yeah, she was from Vancouver. There's two great biopics about Dorothy Stratten. One stars Mariel Hemmingway as Stratten and the other stars Jamie Lee Curtis. She was a Playboy Playmate.
High Noon with the Batmobile!
They filmed the western town scenes with special infrared film, which was very expensive and difficult to develop back in the 80s. Only one company took the job of developing that film.
Captain Cornelius Butt is played by veteran television and film comedian Avery Schreiber, most well known for his handlebar mustache. lol
Your shirt is almost a Space Battleship Yamato uniform
Not so fun fact: Galaxina is played by Dorothy Stratten, actress and 1980 Playboy Playmate of the Year, who was murdered two months after Galaxina was released by her husband, Paul Snider, who committed suicide afterwards.
Yes, Galaxina did the three boob trick a decade before Total Recall did it. lol
I haven’t seen Total Recall 😬
Dorothy Stratton Penthouse playmate killed by an ex boyfriend that was riding on her coat tails.
As detailed in Star 80
Wow that’s awful :( !
Two small corrections: Playboy not Penthouse, Paul Sneider was her husband.
Stratten was 1980 Playmate of the year…
I thought Capt. Butt looked like that old comedian Avery Schreiber and sure enough it is. He used to do stand-up comedy with Jack Burns, they were on a lot of variety shows back in the day and he did ads for Doritos tortilla chips.
And let’s not forget hamming it up on match game
Dark Star. 1974.
John Carpenter.
The featured alien is..
Fantastic.
I’ll add it to the list! Thanks for the suggestion!
@@ReelReviewsWithJen dark star great movie 📼
The clip at 20:37 is from First Spaceship on Venus (1960).
Good to know! Should I add it to the watchlist!
@@ReelReviewsWithJen Originally this was a German release but, edited down/dubbed for it's American release. Not too sure if I've seen it before. The only known actor to me is Yoko Tani who appeared in quite a few "Cult" films.
@@ReelReviewsWithJen
What's interesting about the movie is that it was produced by a communist country, East Germany.
Avery Schreiber, who played Captain Butt, is a very familiar face to people who were around in the '70s and and '80s (in the US, anyway). Not really a big star, but he had a distinctive look and comic style, and guest-starred on a lot of TV shows and specials. In particular, he was known for his appearances in commercials for Doritos.
He's right I recognized him right away but had to look up his name.
Avery was even on The Muppet Show.
The scenes on Altair 1 were shot with a special thermal film to make it stand out. The stuff was difficult to work with and left residue everywhere and used up/destroyed film development fluid.
You might enjoy the old tv series "Space:1999" It was a British science-fiction television series that ran for 48 episodes.

The film the crew watches is First Spaceship on Venus (1960). Best. Leo.
Can't believe someone woke up every day to work on this?
I wonder if they omitted it from their resume 😬
Fun fact: I purchased the DVD of this film for the expressed purpose of a showing in the famework of a "worst movies" competition. The borderline pornographic cover and the fact that it's an 80s SF movie I've never even heard of led me to the believe it must surely be one of the worst movies in the competition.
At the end everyone was in unison that it was the best film shown.
i think i that opening music comes from the original buck rogers or flash gordon serials
It definitely sounded like I’d heard it somewhere before
Agreed I though the same thing when I saw this awful b movie 😈
For a similar vibe, try The Creature Wasn’t Nice (alt title Spaceship! or Naked Space)
This seems heavily inspired by Barbarella. Worth watching if you haven't seen it.
Another schlocky sci-fi is Space Truckers. Dennis Hopper, Charles Dance and Stephen Dorff. It's wild.
And for one that I have no explanation of, check out Motorama. It's a weird ride.
I nvr heard of this one b4... very cool. Looks good to me, thx.
The Western scenes remind me of Oblivion (1994) with George Takei and Julie Newmar
I've lived over 60 years without being aware of this movie and could have gone another 60. But as always I enjoyed your reaction. Your shirt looks very scifi, nice choice.
Haha yeah that’s fair, thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Jen to play Galaxina in the remake, wearing that shirt.
It's a space movie, and if I can't have a robot, I'm taking my bat & my ball, and I'm going home!
You could always watch Dark Star (1974).
Directed and produced by John Carpenter and co-written with Dan O'Bannon.
A 16mm student project with a final budget $60,000. This is their first film.
The first Carpenter movie ! A must to watch ! 👍👍👍
"Her name was Galaxina."
Hey, that's the name of the movie!
Haha yes! Real creative lol
@@ReelReviewsWithJen Seems to be the running joke on your channel, so...
Of all the things I expected, a reference to the sitcom Dinosaurs was not among them.
Haha I hope it was a pleasant surprise! Thanks for watching!
This is captain J stardate 2021 saying this movie would put me to sleep
Just to remind you, Jen, another awful science fiction movie you might wanna check out is 1988's Hell Comes To Frogtown, starring Roddy Piper and Sandahl Bergman.
Oh, wow! I entirely failed to recognize Ms. Bergman in that one!
Love that movie. havn't been able to catch the other films in the trilogy yet.
I thought I was a b movie connoisseur but I have never had the pleasure of seeing this nonsense. Good find. The cheez, cheez over drive. I Loved it.
11:46 Hey, that lady featured in the film "Explorers" with youn River Phoenix & Ethan Hawke!
Eee! I don’t think I’ve seen Explorers!
@@ReelReviewsWithJen It's a decent kid-ish sci fi with some laughs. Worth adding to the list.
When that guy said do you have a drinking problem. I definitely will if I watch this whole movie.
You should try Highway to Hell from 1991.
David good movie 📼
Let me guess, the captain's nickname is 'Cornhole.'
Hahaha!
Hi Jen. That movie they are watching is "First Spaceship on Venus" (1960). If your continuing to watch bad, cheesy Sci-Fi movies then it is one you definitely check out.
That is the version that has had so much cut out that it no longer makes any sense... You should try and see the original: "The Silent Star" (1960) if at all possible.
Nice video. If you are interested in seeing two of the biggest "wtf" movies you should check out Nightmare Weekend and THINGS(1989). THINGS is atrociously bad but you can't help but watch the madness. I've talked the the director/star of THINGS, Barry Gillis and he such a cool guy. I believe THINGS is the strangest Canadian film ive ever saw. Some other great B movie cheese to watch are There is Nothing Out There, The Children (1980), Yor: The Hunter From the Future, and my favorite Deathstalker 2. Deathstalker 2 is a favorite of mine, it is directed by Jim Wynorski who directed Chopping Mall and star John Terlesky who played the gum chewing guy in Chopping Mall. Keep the cool content coming Jen. ✌
I'd never heard of this before. Does it seem like maybe a film school project?
At least students improve eventually 😬
@@ReelReviewsWithJen True. Spielberg made a half hour movie when he was 13, using his father's home movie camera and some friends from school.

Next: Jane Fonda's Barbarella!
I’ll add it to the list!
Who doesn't enjoy Sexy Sci-Fi fun:
The biker cult that captures Galaxina worships a holy trinity of Ali-David-Son. Not only is this a subtle reference to the three original branches of Abrahamic faith (Muslim (Ali being a common Arabic name which means "high" or "elevated), Jewish (Star of David), Christian (Son of God)). It is bears a phonetic resemblance to Harley Davidson, the motorcycle manufacturer.
Torgo: There is nothing to fear, madam. The Master likes you. Nothing will happen to you. He likes you.
Margaret: Likes me? I thought you said he was dead?
Torgo: Dead? No, madam. Not dead the way you know it. He is with us always. Not dead the way you know it. He is with us always.
😅
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😉
Thank you for watching! You too!
Well...., that was a totally wacked out experience! Corny, but sort of fun, with nods all over the place. The actress playing Galaxina was a Playboy's Playmate. Avery Schreiber who played Cornelius Butt, Itchy to his friends, was pretty well known for quite a few comedy rolls. Good choice Jen.

@@mikesilva3868 This kind of reminded me of Dark Star(1974), but not as good.
@@brucster99b2 love dark star and starcrash too😎
They made a movie about Dorothy Stratton called “Star 80” which was pretty much the last year of her life. Sad that she wasn’t allowed to grow old.
She was so young! So sad :(
Cool that you did a reaction video for this one. I Just found it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. For another obscure prime slice of 80's cheese with a few laughs, I recommend "America 3000." It's 80's post apocalyptic fun. For a more serious, somewhat obscure 80's movie about vampires, I recommend "Near Dark." It stars Bill Paxton, Lance Henriksen, and several others you might recognize.
Supersonic man please it's better than Superman 🤣🤣🤣
I know I already commented, but while I was watching this I thought of another sci-fi movie you might like to watch since you like terrible movies:Solarbabies.Personally I’d rather repeatedly smash my head against a brick wall than watch it again, but If you decide to view it,I’ll watch the video because you’ll make it fun.
Hmm...culturally, I can't help but think that Galaxina trying to seduce that guy would be sort of like if I went to Burger King and was propositioned by a mechanical Whopper.
Hahaha “Have - it - Your - way” said in robot voice
@@ReelReviewsWithJen ROFL OMG!
In fairness, Dorothy Stratton is a pretty attractive Whopper.
"2001, that was a good year." Was it really? Might want to check your "history" books there Cap.
“Flesh Gordon” was an “X” rated feature very much in the same territory as Galaxina but preceded it by about six years. Flesh Gordon was more suggestive and more nudity but it was still the same vibe. Yes thats “Flesh” with an “e” not to be confused with Flash Gordon.
R.O.T.O.R. might make a great bad movie episode. It's a weird no budget Robocop / Terminator hybrid seemingly made by a robot that doesn't understand humans or filmmaking.
To say that Galaxina fails at everything, is actually an understatement. This sci-fi spoof actually looks pretty good but it fails miserably at humor, references, acting, dialogues and dear lord what the fuck were they thinking with the pacing of this. NOTHING happens for literally 30 minutes. NOTHING. And when it does, you just want it to finnish and end your misery in the process. Hell, the titular character is not even the main characters and only utter two or three sentences on the whole movie. She's kinda hot though, as a playmate, she's actually fine and I can't say that for 90% of other Playboy bunnies. Yes, I ended up a review praising a Playmate for being of my liking, I really can't find many positive things in this, sorry. That is what I think of this movie 📼
Haha awesome! I’ll add it to the list! I love RoboCop so that sounds awesome! Thanks for the suggestion!
@@ReelReviewsWithJen robocop rocks 😊
I will second the recommendation for R.O.T.O.R. It is definitely trying to be funny at times, but it's hilariously inept from start to finish.
Thor butts.
You REALLY need to watch "Barbarella"... While still a 'bad' movie, it is 'art house' bad rather than BAD bad, if you know what I mean...
Yeah that makes sense, I’ll add it to the list! Thanks for the suggestion!
You react to the best B Movies no one else does. I'd love to see you watch Zombi 2.
William Sachs is strictly low-budget. No one's seen much of his work.
Shame about Dorothy Stratton.

Cool list man. It's really hard to narrow it down to only 11 worst 80's or before movies with so many out there there..."Bud the Chud"..."Black Roses"..."Beware the Blob"..."Student Bodies" (Which I consider to be the first "Scary Movie.")..."Laserblast."..."Empire of the Ants"...All of these are bad, but still fun to watch now and then. Very much agree with your first bad movie being "Starcrash" and your recommendation for people to watch "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama."
Could you please stop to repeat the same introductions to every genre, that you do... "I love terrible movie and i although love sci-fi-movies"... when you do talk on your own, its ok, but this autopilot-style of talking is ruining it
