      Inflation can have a significant impact on individuals and their cost of living. As a result, it can cause negative market sentiment. It is important for individuals and businesses to find ways to navigate and potentially mitigate the effects of inflation on their finances. The current economic climate, including underperformance of financial markets due to fear of inflation, has led to a decrease in the value of my portfolio. I would appreciate any recommendations on how to potentially increase returns during this market downturn.

    What about VDHG vanguard? Also when you put money in do you just leave it or do you drip feed it in?

    • @SanjeeSen
      @SanjeeSen  4 года назад +3

      Hi Japper, yes that's also an option. It's a little diluted for my liking with the fixed income assets. It honestly seems more like a superannuation product. It's great so as a set and forget option it seems. Low fees as well. Might look at it in a future video on these composite ETFs. I drip feed into my ETFs. Hope that helps. Great questions.

      Can't wait for your analysis on VDHG. It has a higher MER but seems high growth oriented and self-rebalancing which might offset the fee. But I would want to see your inputs on it and why. So excited.

    Considering Australia's love of property, why not make it 3 favorite ETFs
    VAS VGS VAP

    Hi mate, thanks for explaining that. Makes a lot more sense now. I have a couple of questions though? Would I buy the shares through the platform I normally buy them from (SelfWealth)? How are the returns paid? Is it through dividend reinvestment? And how are the fees charged? Are they taken out of the returns or are you billed? Thanks mate

    Hey Sanjee,
    Thank you for an awesome video.Just liked and subbed. Just wondering, if I really wanted to diversify, wouldn't it be better to just buy all the ETF's you mentioned as long term safe investments and then do riskier ones with more return later down the track?

    • @SanjeeSen
      @SanjeeSen  4 года назад

      Hi Nash, great to have you onboard. That's generally what I do - buying broad ETFs as a good longterm base and then building on top of that.

      Hi there! This is a great question. I've had a quick look at the arrangement and it's not quite attractive to me but I'll need to crunch the numbers on it. Certainly if you're only interested in Vanguard ETFs then there is a benefit. Might do a review/comparison video on it in the future. Let me know if you decide to go ahead with it.

      I've been using Vanguard personal investing and I'm satisfied with it given this is the first service I've used and I've been only investing in ETFs. The no brokerage fees for buying ETFs and low management fees for the account are pretty attractive for passive investing. You also have the option to buy Australian shares.

      @@swankykoala4836 Yes mate agree. I only found this all out after I used nabtrade. I only intended to go with the 2 vanguard etfs Sanjee talked about anyway.

    Great insight, Sanjee. Thank you!
    A couple of questions, which you could probably cover in a video. With DCA in ETFs, how do you build and maintain an investment strategy, for example, 80% growth and 20% defensive when you invest $500 p/m? Do you simply buy growth ETFs some months and defensive ETFs in other months until you have that 80/20 split? Then it's a matter of maintaining or even readjusting?

    • @SanjeeSen
      @SanjeeSen  3 года назад +6

      Hey Simon, great question - certainly will add this to the list. But for now: yeah if I were in this situation I'd wait till I had large parcels to buy at a time so I didn't loose too much on brokerage (transaction costs). There is no need to start with the 80/20 split straight away. You can progressively build it up. Also be aware...sometimes without planning for it your growth stocks might "grow" faster than you expect resulting in your split changing to 95/5 possibly...so you might have to spend a few months building up the defensive positions a bit. Like you said...maintaining and readjusting. I rarely sell to readjust - I always buy "more of the other stuff" to dilute the position of the thing that's become too big. Hope that helps - but will do a video on it too :)

    Hi Sanjee, have you produced a video on interpreting the Vanguard tax statements that you could direct me to?
    If not, it would be great if you could produce one, as it seems that Vanguard may be reporting to the ATO based on the earnings period and not on the payment period.

    Sanjee, some good advices you have here. Thank you. But could you please tell me why it should be important to me that some ETFs have a low maintainance and low fees (if I own their shares via lets say Commsec or SelfWealth)? Am I paying any anual taxes because I own their shares, any management fees?

      Hi K Saravanakumar - yes it's worth considering Gold ETFs in your portfolio too. Some that come to mind are GDX and QAU. I think if you're worried about inflation coming, these are worth looking into.
