    Yes, i'd be interested in a retirement income potential video of these ETFs, Sanjee. I have a plan to use superannuation in pension mode as a regular income, plus ETFs purchased after a property sale, which I'd cash in a certain percentage of once a year, and just bank that lump sum for use through the following year.

  • @ellewebmedia

    A retirement income video would be great, as would an 'investing for your kids' video. The VDHG sounds like a good option for that, and a comparo table could be good to help people make a decision between that, bonds and an LIC like AFIC (that the Barefoot investor recommends)?!

    For me, it made sense to have a split between VDHG/VGS/VAS/IOZ and a couple of other things that do the same stuff.
    No one ever really talks about diversification between managers even if it's the same general product.
    I know it's more complicated this way, but for the most part VDHG has a crazy amount of exposure to Australia despite being so diverse.

    Thanks very much. Really interesting video. These Vanguard funds would make great bed rocks to any portfolio and you can add other ETFs as you like. I completely agree with your views on "ethical" funds. They are over-priced and I am intrigued by what the definition of "ethical" really is? Banks? Mmm? As you say, if you want to encourage ethical investing, make it cheaper and more different to the mainstream funds.

      It’s maybe a touch unfair to compare them directly. DZZF is more actively managed than the others, which would be the justification for the fees. There are pros and cons to that, for sure, but the justification is at least there.
      There are cheaper ways to ethically invest. A couple Vanguard offerings get you there at a low clip, but they aren’t the all-in-one ETFs, so they wouldn’t have belonged in the video.

    I agree I believe more people would like to be associated with ethical companies, because let’s face it we are all interested in making money for our futures. Ethical has become the latest trend, which means expensive. Conscious shouldn’t worry about expense ( only true if you own one of these ethical companies & need to validate why we need the product/service higher fees).
    Simply it’s like going to the grocery store for carrots. One counter a bag costs $2, the Organic bag $5. The organic ones uglier in appearance. Told no nasty chemicals used. Inwardly we think mmm? Is that true?
    Information on your videos well thought out & very informative.

    Hi Sanjee, as a newbie to investing in ETFs, I still have some confusion about making my first investment. I have watched your other video about VAS+VGS. What are the differences between VDHG and VAS+VGS or are they similar? In this video you mentioned VDHG is not designed for receiving dividend, then are VAS+VGS better in terms of dividend? Are VAS+VGS good for long term investing? I am thinking to invest in EFTs as a way of saving money (maybe 5 years) but then when will be a good time to sell the ETFs? ( as soon as there is capital gain?)

      yea

    • @NoRegertsHere
      @NoRegertsHere Год назад

      3 year time frame to save in ETF is probably ok. Most I’ve seen say 5 years. So the first 1-2 years into ETFs and leave it, last 2-3 years, maybe better to save cash.
      Capital gains tax will then be half because you owned the ETFs for longer than 12 months. Any of the gains are taxed at half your normal tax rate, statistically that would be 32.5%, divided by 2 is around 16%. So if you invested 10k for 2 years and it grew to 12k, you’d have to pay tax on 2k.. about $320 tax. Leaving you with $11680.
      Barefoot investor is a great book and he also has a newsletter that had a breakdown of the way he invests in 3 ETFs. Essentially it was IVV (sp500 US businesses), VAS and all world ex US.
