Watch saturated fats; especially fast and fried food. My ultrasound now shows "Echogenicity: There is increased hepatic echogenicity". Growing fatty liver on top of cirrhosis in my case. This also causes gallbladder pain. I start to wonder why most Docs DON'T refer us to a nutritionist?

You are absolutely Right. I used to work in the fast food industry. These places and many restaurants use the same grease over and over again!! It is totally disgusting.. Fried fast food is the worst! Take good care.❤

Hi! My husband was recently diagnosed with liver cirrhosis and it’s been comforting listening to your story and sharing your journey. We are going to find out what stage his cirrhosis is at soon (although I think it’s compensated because he doesn’t have fluid and swelling, spider angiomas or vertices), but I have been making home cooked meals using two cookbooks specifically geared towards fatty liver/liver cirrhosis and his overall appearance has improved! We buy skinless chicken breasts, tuna and salmon, and lean cuts of beef (every once in a while). I’ll also prepare a starch like wild rice or brown rice or sweet potato and fill up our plates with veggies like broccoli, lettuce, squash, green beans or carrots. Like you said, greek yogurt is a great source of protein and he will eat that with some blueberries and grapes. Sometimes he’ll switch it up for cottage cheese. We try to buy fruit juices with no added sugars as well. We don't eat fast food or greasy food anymore either. Going low sodium was the best thing to happen to both of us and it’s been great using lemon juice and dried herbs to add flavor to meals. His dietician also approved all of the things we’ve been eating and gave us an exact number on how much protein he should be getting per day based on his body metrics.
Overall, I’m scared about this diagnosis but also hopeful that the lifestyle changes we’re making are benefiting him and his bloodwork shows improvement :)
Again, thank you for your insight and updates, it gives us hope! ❤

Hello and thank you for sharing! I wish you all the best, also yes it’s a hard journey but I do it alone and I’m still going, he’s got you so don’t underestimate that value alone of him knowing he’s not alone 😊 trying to stay positive is so important. That’s why I don’t dwell on the things I can’t do anymore and I put that energy into finding new things to enjoy. Keep up the fight and stay blessed!!

I appreciate that you don’t ramble and make god points, Get a instant pot it’s great for trying fresh or frozen veggies in. It doesn’t have to be watched so cooking isn’t as tiring. For boring white meat chicken I buy skinless boneless chicken and easily and quickly cube it raw using kitchen or poultry scissors.I see in cast iron skillet in a dab of Oliver oil, nothing else and then lower temp to low and put lid on until it is barely steamed to done so it’s still juicy. Then I make my own spice blends without salt and use fresh garlic or powdered garlic and lemon to mimic salt. I buy family packs so it’s handy to eat in a few days. I do t add spices until just before eating so I can change flavors. My favorite blend is Hungarian sweet paprika, cayenne, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder. The only grains I allow is whole grain rice like black rice, or one slice a day of Killer Dave power seed bread which I get at half price at day old bred store and freeze. I eat cooked fresh dandelion green a lot and lots of green veggies andcruciferous veggies. My carbs are small portions of sweet potato Almost no eating out or fast food. No processed meats or corn dogs. For carbs. Protein and fat I sometimes eat nuts or roasted pumpkin seeds. Please stop eating so much junk food you mentioned. The liver can’t process even fruit sugar. I eat low glycemic fruit in measured small amounts mostly berries. Get a salad spinner for a quick washing of raw greens. When I weak I cut up and process food sitting in my bed. I have giant cutting board and chef knife, a bowl to put food in hand a big bowl for trash like peelings. I batch cook huge batches to freeze and freeze single servings in quart bags to avoid cheating. Hope this helps somebody.

I’m having the same problem.Because I’m Child Score A and lost a lot of weight I just get told to carry on doing what I’m doing which is not bad but not ideal. Also some dieticians seem to be unaware of the toxicity in some foods. If anyone knows a nutrition site with a Child score A type diet or meal plan please let me know as at the moment I’m just following a rough version of the med.diet.My Dr just says have 3 meals a day.

I know it’s frustrating, yes. They just tell you to change your diet and exercise more. You have to request a dietician otherwise they will not refer you to one, unfortunately. But once you have a dietician, they will be able to share some great resources that are based off of your medical records (like how much protein you should be eating per day based on your height and weight). This is great for meal prepping and making sure you’re getting adequate amounts of protein per day.
I advocated for my husband to be followed by a dietician and asked her which diet is best and she said, Mediterranean is good. She advised to stay away from keto because of the high fat and limit red meat intake but if you do have red meat to make sure it’s a leaner cut like sirloin or you could cut the fat off.
So just high protein, low sodium (2000 mg per day which is about a tablespoon), low fat diet.
I hope you get the resources you need soon ❤

If you don't want to eat much and want to get your protein with coffee.
Get the "PREMIER PROTEIN" powder jug (chocolate flavor the best).
Each serving comes with 2 scoops ,30 grams of Protein. 1 gram of sugar and 1 gram of fat and like 4 grams of Carbs.
I only take Half the serving (15 grams of Protein).
I enjoy 1 scoop on my coffee and it's delicious.
Greek Yogurt, low fat and low sugar/carbs.

I haven’t heard of him. All I do is try to keep it simple. I know what my body needs and I eat the things that provide that. Mostly protein. So I’m not an expert by no means. This is what works for me. Seeing as two years ago they gave me 90 days to live 🤷🏻 it staying positive that I think makes the most difference.

      Pork? and Raisin Bran ?
Bad idea. Study up. Utube has so much teaching from highly current information. By major medical institutes and doctors who specifically research. My old school gastroenterology doctor has been so clearly not up to date that i sought another. Wow. Both professionals less then one mile apart. Worlds apart. What a difference

It was suggested to me, early on with cirrhosis ,
That i should up my iron intake. So i go purchase a bottle of iron supplements. Two days into it; and as my own research on the topic continues; i find out that iron is hard on a cirrhotic liver. Oops. Just
      - aggressively - trying to figure this all out. Keep learning and exercising.
" Movement movement, help helps, sluggish livers, live longer." (yeah i said that) 😉. 😁.
