Let's create some DIY Farmhouse decor from thrifted finds and scraps! In this episode, we'll take vintage chafing trays that are missing their pans and and we'll turn one of them into a chalkboard and the other into a little riser that you can put on your table and display your things on. Then using scraps of board, we'll make this AWESOME half windmill. It's very industrial, yet...beautifully farmhouse! Then lastly we will take an old enamel pot that I got at the thrift store and turn it into a farmhouse planter! So, come along as we dive into these projects.

Love love everything
I am in love with the hapf windmill. It's my faviorite in this videoI love the enamel pan, but it needs gravel in the bottom for drainage.
Everything was beautiful but the fan I love ❤
Unless your plants like wet feet, they won't survive in the pan with no drainage. Gravel in the bottom would help. Or plant them in a pot with drainage and use the enamel pan as a cache pot. :-)
Thank you, DCN! I love plants...but, I'm horrible at caring for them, so thank you for your suggestion. I'm going to go and put some rocks on the bottom, so that I can actually keep this one alive! LOL Thanks for sharing and you have a BEAUTIFUL night! XOXO
@@FLEAMARKETRESCUE You could also just drill a couple Small holes in the bottom.
Drill holes in the pan for drainage
For your windmills you can use old ceiling fan blades as well.
I thought that was old ceiling fan blades at a glance . That's what I plan to use with a scrap metal ring from the junk yard.
Yes...that would have definitely worked too! It's just that I had scrap board laying around, so I thought....why not cut out a few pieces out real quick. Thanks for the suggestion though, Tammy! I really appreciate that! Anyway, Thanks Again and You have a BEAUTIFUL night, Tammy! XOXO

Anyway, thanks for watching and you have a WONDERFUL weekend, Amy! XOXO
I found those same trays a few years ago and used them as raisers and the small one fits a box of tissue perfect. I painted it white and it sets by my bed side.

Thank you, Mary! I'm so glad to hear that you LOVED the windmill project! Actually that was a pretty easy project and I thought it turned out AWESOME! I know I could sell a lot of those for sure! They are a bigger piece and they really make a statement displayed on a wall, don't you think?!?! Anyway, thanks for the sweet compliment, Mary and You have a BEAUTIFUL night, my friend! XOXO

AwHHHH...thank you, Kimberly! I really appreciate that and I'm so glad to hear that you liked all of the projects this week! XOXO You have a WONDERFUL day, today!
You should have drilled drainage holes in that Enamel basin
Love the windmill , best one ive seen!
AwHhhh, Tracy....that was so sweet of you! Thank you so much! Your comment made my night! XOXO
You forgot to put some rocks or stones on the bottom for good drainage since there’s no hole on the bottom of bowl. Speaking of bowls, that is a nice enamel ware, it’s nice n deep. Love lavender unfortunately they don’t grow well in Florida.
Kelly, what great ideas you have shown us. That tray, wow, never thought of doing what you did they turned out so cute. Love both ideas of the trays. Have to say that windmill was a favorite. I just got to make one. So clever of you. I’ve seen other ideas of making one but yours, it takes the prize. I have a big favor to ask if you n hope you will do it.
In one of your videos you made the cutest stool for small plants. I’m having a hard time finding the video to give me the correct measurements in making it. Could you or will you give me the measurements for it. I know there’s the legs n the side bars that connect to the legs n I know they need to be cut at a angle but I don’t know what angle.
I would be so grateful if you’d do this if it’s no trouble.
Never get enough of your great n clever DIY’s . Thank you
♥️♥️😊👍👍👍
Hi Shelly! Yea...I think I'm going to have to go back and put some rocks on the bottom, like you suggested. I'm horrible with plants, but I love your suggestion, so I think I'm going to do that! So, glad to hear that you loved the projects this week and especially the windmill!!! Now, on the little stool. Out of 1" x 1" pieces of wood, you will need to cut FOUR, 6 1/2" length pieces of wood on a 10 degree angle. The cuts should be parallel, like this / /. Then for the cross bars...you will be using a 1" x 1/2" piece of wood. You will need FOUR of those, as well. Those will measure 4 1/2" when cut and will be cut on a 45 degree angle. The angle should be cut inward on each side. Like this: / \ Remember to have your 1/2" side up when cutting these. Alright...that should be it. If you have any other questions, Shelly....don't hesitate to ask! Ok? Thanks and you have a GREAT night! XOXO
I really like the projects using the silver chafing trays. I have never run across any in all my thrift store shopping. I've often wondered if I'm the only person who still uses a chafing dish. Mine is electric...doesn't require a candle, for some who may not get that. I have my mother's and it is so handy, especially for dips that need to be kept hot. Anyway, enjoyed your projects. 🙂👍
Oh I love the planter that you did last the best! 💖💜💖
Thank you, Suze! I just LOVE those enamel pots! They are so hard to come by! I felt like I hit the jackpot when I saw it on the shelf! Anyway, thank you for letting me know what project was your favorite and for watching! You have a BEAUTIFUL night, Suze! XOXO
@@FLEAMARKETRESCUE I find them at estate auctions. I have multiples. in various colors. Be sure to make holes for drainage or plants will get root rot. I also set other plastic pots inside of some if I don't want to ruin the pots value with holes.
Kelly.... how amazing that half windmill is.... Oh my....!!!! And love your silver chafing trays!, so elegant ! Love the one that you stained ❤️
The Glue is grand !!! Another You Tuber uses it all the time .
I was going to send you a message today on Instagram... it felt like it has been a long time since you posed ! 🤷♀️. LOL!!! Then up popped a notification for this video.... I’m old...don’t mind me ....LOL!!!!
Hugs sweet one ! 💛💛
Hi Jayne! Awhhhh....you were going to send me a message?!?! How sweet! No, I've just been trying to get my bearings back after that Vintage show, like cleaning up my house, I have my son's graduation party is coming up....so, I'm trying to get things ready for that. I've just been busy, busy busy, but thank you so much for your concern. You're so sweet, Jayne! OH and someone else on RUclips uses Starbond, too?!?!? I had never heard of it before, but I'll tell you....after using it.....I really loved it! Normally with the epoxy glue that I use...you have to wait for hours or over night for it to completely bond. This glue was like instant and it was just as strong as epoxy! I'm definitely going to use it again! Anyway, thank you again for your concern and for the lovely compliments on the projects this week! You have a BEAUTIFUL night, Jayne! XOXO
@@FLEAMARKETRESCUE CONGRATULATIONS to your Son on his graduation! Our 1st Grandchild is graduating this year. Can’t believe that time has passed so fast ☹️ OR can’t believe I’m that old 🤦♀️..... That is our oldest daughter’s daughter and our youngest daughter ( she is 41 ) is getting ready to enroll her oldest child in Pre-K.... crazy right ? Since I LOVE planning events...I making “wood books” with the wording on the sides for her party and making items to fit her theme of “Vintage Cookie Shop” ....she did NOT want a normal school colors , etc party ! Not as healthy as I was 4 years ago with keeping up to high volume crafting and planning ! LOL....
Yes. Yvonne at “Ginger Chick Rehab” using that glue all the time . Speaks very highly and we can see just how fast is bonds !

Love all the flips! I have a scroll saw and am always afraid that the blade is going to snap and I haven't mastered the art of of that saw yet 😩 I almost feel like I wasted my money on it! You make everything look so easy❤️
Hi Kathleen! I LOVE the scroll saw and you're going to love it, too....the more you use it. But, I know what you're saying..... you be going along just cutting your wood and then all of a sudden out of nowhere.... the blade snaps and it can be quite startling. It starts makes that clanking noise and you have to shut the scroll saw off! You know what though, I've never gotten hurt from it, because the blade is held so tightly in those grips even when it breaks. So, you just stop and change it and continue on. I've been using the scroll saw for 30 years now and like I said....I absolutely love it. My mother in law taught me how to use it in my late 20's and we did so many craft shows over the years! We made so much things using our scroll saws...Santas, Snowmen, Scarecrows, Cows, etc... What I love about the scroll saw is that the blade is so small and thin...so, it's not scary like a bandsaw. I won't touch a bandsaw, but the scroll saw...it's a lot of fun once you get over your fear of using it! You didn't waste your money at all, Kathleen! You're going to LOVE your scroll saw! If you ever have any questions...don't hesitate to ask! XOXO
Love these Kelly! Miss your mom! 😍
Hi Lanie! Thank you so much! Yea...after the big Vintage Market...my mom is just tired out. She worked so hard on that, so I don't think she's ready to jump back into doing more projects just yet. She's taking a well deserved break...which I totally understand! Anyway, thank you for watching and for the sweet comment about my mom, Lanie! XOXO You have a BEAUTIFUL night!
You’re so creative! It was inspiring seeing you use the scroll saw! I love power tools too!
Thank you, Vivian! I love using my scroll saw....it's so easy to use! It's not scary at all, because it has such a thin little blade....not like a bandsaw or anything like that. I've been using a scroll saw for years on projects. My mother in law actually taught me how to use one when I was in my late 20's. She use to do craft shows and then I got into craft shows and the rest is history! LOL Anyway, thank you so much for the sweet compliment and you have BEAUTIFUL night, Vivian! XOXO
Great video! I love all these trash to treasure ideas! 💗
AwHhhh, thank you so much! I really appreciate that, JunkerNecker DIY! XOXO You have a BEAUTIFUL night!
Oh also I just got those stamps man I love them. 😃
I LOVE these stamps, Theresia! Especially the lower case ones....they look like typewriter letters. I was so excited to use them and I can't wait to use them again in another project! Anyway, thanks for sharing and for watching! XOXO
I’ve never seen those letter stamps before. Where can I buy them?
@@tammiescreations4340 Hi! You can get those on Etsy. They are made by IOD (Iron Orchid Designs). There are a lot of sellers who have them on there. The stamps are called the typesetting stamps. Hope that helps!
@@FLEAMARKETRESCUE thank you! That helps a bunch! 😊
Cure projects! Just curious about the drainage for the plant in the enamel pot... 🤔 Of course I would NEVERRRRRR drill holes in it but it's gotta have SOME WAY to drain or your pretty flowers won't last long .... 🤔
Momma Bear Lisa...honestly....I'm not always good with plants. Not at all! I love them....but, I'm never able to keep them alive for long. That's why you see a lot of my videos with fake greenery. LOL I've been hearing people in the comments suggest to put rocks on the bottom of the pot because the pot doesn't have drainage holes. I think....I might have to do that. The plants are holding up good right now, but I don't want for them to take a turn for the worst either. Anyway...thank you for being concerned and for sharing! XOXO You have a BEAUTIFUL night, Lisa!!!
i found one of those bases on an estate sale...ups! the price 25 dollars and did not have the pyrex enclosure...just the frame...amazing ideas...thanks
Wow...they wanted $25 for one of those....nope...I would have passed on that! That's Way Too Much! It should have had pyrex, the lid...EVERYTHING for $25! Yikes! Yeah, I'm usually able to pick them up for $3.99-$7.99 and none of them ever have the dish or lid. Anyway, thank you for the sharing, Lolitabonita and for the sweet compliment on the ideas! You have a BEAUTIFUL night! XOXO
@@FLEAMARKETRESCUE U r welcome...That is exactly what I though...$25 dollars are u crazy?? never said that at loud LOLOLOL 3.99 is an amazing price even 7.99 here in Houston...not such of luck on that price range...9 and up...I pass for those prices...however when I less expect i find what i need...God bless me with my findings...even after months of asking for something...Example. I needed a rice cooker but with my low income i was not able to buy one...even in Marketplace...so i just let go and keep searching..two weeks ago someone was giving away a bunch of stuff...I showed up and got 60 percent of the nice items the rest i gave it to the other person that showed up few minutes after me...turned out that the daughter asked me if i wanted more stuff.."sure" i said..and guess what I god a brand new rice cooker...for free...
I have a lot of cigar boxes and I am stumped as to what to do with them I’m wondering if you come across some do a flip so I can get some ideas thanks 😊
Love your projects. I always do. So far I've watched it twice today.
I've been wondering why people do with those wood circles that you used for the windmill.
Do you seal the cinnamon somehow?
Hi Charlotte!!! Thank you so much! WOW...you watched my video twice?!?! Those wood circles were in the floral department, so I'm guessing that they wire in greenery and flowers to them or hot glue them on to the wood. I didn't seal it, because I was crunched for time, but I would just spray a clear coat sealer on it and that way you don't have to worry at all about it. Anyway, thank you for the sweet compliment!!! XOXO (Just you watching it twice is a big compliment within itself!!!) Thanks so much and you have a BEAUTIFUL night, Charlotte!
Is in the bottom of your enamel, pot or basin?Don't you put rocks in the bottom to keep the because you don't have holes in the bottom of your container to hold on to moisture and then put the dirt on up.Cause I'm getting ready to do to transfer a potted plan.T and I didn't know.Maybe I should put rocks in the bottom of it and then put the dirty in
I have this stamp set, too, and I just love it! Quick question: where did you get the thin, big mounting mat? I've been looking for one but all I have found are the small blocks that I don't like.
I've never seen anyone cut their grid mat. 😲
You can get the mats on Etsy. Just search IOD thin mount. I almost yelled when she cut it! I’ve never seen anyone do that and I’ve never done it. Now it’s ruined. 😮
@@tdabee9006 thanks so much!
I thought those clear mats came with the set of stamps. I really thought it was part of it . I love this set she used today. Idk if I have to hunt a mat also that I will buy them. I watched another lady that had cut up her mat and she cut a 6 inch square out of hers. Might be an expensive set of letters if you have to buy stamps and mat.
Hi Jane! Oh...you bought these stamps, too?!?! They are AWESOME, aren't they! I LOVE the lower case letters!!! I recently picked them up at Sweet & Sassy Treasures and they had the big mounting mats there, too. The mats are only $3.00 Here's a link to her store and she ships. www.sweetandsassytreasures.com/product-page/thin-mounts I bought two. Also, if you didn't want to get them from her...I'm sure there are a lot of sellers on Etsy who have them, as well. Ok. I hope that helps! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask! XOXO
What would you use as a sealer on the windmill? I would imagine that when dusting/cleaning it you would remove the cinnamon. I'm thinking of this for resale purpose.
Theresa....I would just use a clear coat sealer on that. You could just spray that on...let it dry and it will be perfect! Then you wouldn't have to worry about the cinnamon coming off. Ok If you have any questions...don't hesitate to ask! You have a BEAUTIFUL night! XOXO
When I use the cinnamon, I paint mod podge on it then sprinkle the cinnamon over the mod podge. I then use the same technique for rubbing the extra cinnamon over the modge podge. I think the rubbing is what makes it look authentic.
Lavender needs sharp drainage. Holes should be drilled in containers first.
Where did you get your letters from?
Where do you get your diy transfer books?
That's a doy transfer book?
From what little I can see you are sanding the front of the letters rather than the back correct?
Hi Loni...no you need to sand the back part of the stamp that you are going to put the ink on. I'm not sure why it looks that way, but it's the part that you put the ink on that needs to be lightly sanded. Hope that helps.
Where did u get the grid sheet?
Hi Taryn! I got it at a little store called, Sweet and Sassy Treasures. They are $3.00 and they ship. Here's a link: facebook.com/SweetandSassyTreasures You can probably find them on Etsy, too. Hope that helps!
I did like what you did with that chalkboard chafing tray, but that was a terrible paint job you did on it.
Wow...that was really a mean comment, but I'm glad that I could give you an idea for a project! Have a nice day!
How rude! 🥴
