Have you ever picked up something left on the curb? In today’s video, I upcycle an old grandfather clock I found on the side of the road-using all of its parts in four different projects. I love with how these projects turned out and how I have given an abandoned clock a new purpose in my home!

So so sorry to hear of your unfortunate accident….it’s very generous of you to share your experience so that others can learn from it (must be the teacher in you!). I pray your ankle heals quickly and completely…..and, oh, the clock redo was spectacular. It makes me wonder if your neighbors put out items thinking “Let’s see what Sherry can do with that!” Be well.
Oh, thank you, Deb. The car accident was actually a few years ago, so I am fully recovered. You can be sure that when I saw the clock on the curb, I carefully pulled over to the side of the road! 😜

When I got my first glimpse of the grandfather clock, I already thought "no way would I consider taking it". I cannot tell you how much I love it now! I walked away from one in a Goodwill store thinking I could not remake it into anything salvageable. All I can say is wow!!!! I have a small area in my family room where I have an inexpensive ladder bookcase that needs to be replaced. The hunt is on! Thank you for the inspiration! This would look amazing in that room!
I love how you use the mallet on objects. You have the vision of a sculpter. As a child, were your parents ever concerned about their furniture pieces? Leave you alone long enough and everything is transformed! Love, love, love the clock. The bottom as a cat bed is brilliant. Thanks for sharing about your accident. The clock turned out amazing! Love that you added the pendulum and parts as part of the display. The bird trans fare really added a lot of character. Opening up the bottom was a great idea and carried the bird theme as well. (glad no cat bed was added🥰)

This clock is maybe one of your greatest upcycles. Reproduction grandfather clocks look as cheap as they actually are but you’ve made it made it magnificent.

That turned out amazing! The color is so vibrant and I think the gold accents make the face seem like a show piece. I have had many a near accident looking for yard sales and curb shopping. I am so sorry that happened to you! It is so hard not to over react when you get back in the car after an accident. I totaled a gorgeous red truck driving in a storm. I was at a stop sign afraid to move because the rain storm was so heavy I couldn’t see anything right in front of me. People behind me were mad because I was just sitting and they kept honking their horn. I was a complete nervous wreck! After a full 5-10 minutes of sitting I let my foot off the break without touching the gas and tried to ease on the highway and was hit immediately. I was a jumpy driver for almost a year afterwards. I wasn’t hurt though, praise Abba! I am thankful it was only your ankle, Sherry! This project was amazing and you give me so much courage to step out and try new things!
Oh, thank you! I hate driving in storms. It is so frightening when you can barely see anything! I’m so glad you weren’t seriously hurt. Because I couldn’t drive for six weeks while my ankle healed, I was a nervous wreck when I finally got behind the wheel again.
I love your “can do” attitude, Sherry! I smiled when I heard you ask if we ever shopped from the curb…since I actually found a “free” metal shelving unit on my way home from supper with friends last night!

Oh I do love this clock!!! Live and learn, at least that accident wasn’t worse, and you learned a valuable lesson. Years ago I had a yard sale. My girlfriend had surgery and wasn’t supposed to drive. But she just knew I’d have stuff she would want lol. So she drove, was looking at the stuff in my yard and hit a parked car. 🤦🏻♀️

The clock cabinet came out beautiful. My cat would love the space on the bottom! I was in an accident similar to yours years ago. I have permanent damage from mine and I was the passenger. I am glad you did not get hurt worse, nor anyone else.

My mom's uncle made her a child's kitchen cupboard out of a old grandfathers clock when it stopped working. She said it was beautiful with glass door and wooded shelves with cup holders. I wish she would of saved it for me and my girls.
