Loved going past the yards on the train seeing how the building of the ships progressed

The yard shown was greenock dockyard (cartsdyke). I was youngest employee in yard at the time (16yrs old) I was a burners boy and was asked to present flowers to lady that launched ship. I went on to be an apprentice welder and other ships that were built for Geest company were Padua, Geestide and Geestcape.
They were all white banana boats. I left the(Klondike) in 1971 when I finished my apprenticeship. There were loads of characters who worked there at the time. Laurie.

    Thank you for color filming
May I say we look up to you near Greenock. My favorite great ship hearken back to popular 1860's and before. Ariel compared to Sir Lancelot?
    Where should skonert stern, schooner
stern be used instead of Viking fairing
type form. I'm trying to complete Caledonia clipper schooner of William Denny Bros. of 1845 to 1850. Sure
need help with deck as only plywood
1/2 thick currently . Winter prosjekt
    in Cedar Kee Flowida.
Great to see work proceeding where
ocean going and cross channel sail is
    hope for us to help.
