Great song about a Great town. Drugs have killed lots of people in this town ,but can not kill the Greenock spirit .most people would give there last penny to help someone in need .....
That is my grandfather running into the frame at 2:44, joining the band. My mother, by happenstance, saw this video on Facebook and was unaware that he was in the video. It immediately brought tears to her eyes. Thanks so much from Knoxville, Tennessee for posting this. It means a lot to all Greenocians displaced over the globe.
My old high school Greenock academy I was the last 6th year class there in 2011 before it closed for it to become location for Waterloo road :) good memories in that school :) and seeing other parts of Greenock back in the day is so cool :)
Greenock Academy, the school at the start is being demolished as I write this post,, August 2015,,this was the secondary school I went too. I went there from 1977 to 1982, watching this video brings a wee tear to my eye's, a more innocent time, oh, how things have changed for the worse now, the town is a very sad place, full of junkies, knife carriers, alcoholic's and poverty beyond believe. Food banks, people begging so they can get some gas or electricity for there homes, we live in evil times now. Where has the milk of human kindness gone.?
I suppose so,. but they had obviously painted and changed different bits over the years. I did try to look but it was hard as the camera was usually stuck in someone's face.
