Fantastic session lads. Looks like you had some good fun. Probably my favourite stretch to trot a stick on. Feeding Hemp with Tares on the hook tends to get a bigger stamp ;)
It's great seeing videos of people catching well over winter. There's another one with Alex Bates in the Fens. I have been catching there too, can't believe many anglers (as I used to) miss out on the great fishing this time of year!
We agree! It's just a case of finding the fish, and so long as it's not too cold they should feed. You only have to watch ice anglers to see that fish still feed !! Enjoy!
Another brilliant film guys, the banter is truly between good friends. Very good tips, which cover lots of different ways to both feed and fish punched bread. Really glad to see Chappy got the elastic band fixed on the editing as we have missed these films.
Had to revert back to an older machine, but it was the holiday break which halted production tbh Steve.! Anyway, got myself a bit of a 'whizz bang' new computer now too, so hopefully more videos will start to flow. Anything happening on the rivers down your way worth filming?
ian chapman hi Ian, I am trying to find somewhere that is worth filming on in winter. We have the Hampshire Avon For Roach and Chub but they both need more water, so possibly towards end of February or in March. I will keep in touch.
Nice video. Wish the roach in winter were responding here in this part of The Netherlands (Limburg, close to Germany) like they do at the River Hull. The only remark I wish to make is the use of Drennan Polemaster inline weights: I used them some years ago and found that they got lost from the line too easy. (Pins are very (too) short. Since then I use the inline version with no problems at all, though I recognise that switching the inline weights is somewhat more complicated. I will definitely try liquified bread + hempseed as groundbait next season. (I never use ready-made groundbait of any brand not only because of the price, but mainly because I wish to catch fish fish using groundbait of my own recipe.) Hope to see more videos from you both soon. Best regards from Holland. Ton Uittenbogaart, Roermond
Looked great fun session again showing what fishing is all about, having fun, well done lads, roll on sundays session itching get out now!! all the best for 2019 l
Hi guys your team seems to have it worked out. Great camera work from Ian, as always, nice smiles good clear instruction it all adds up to a great video with no over the top soundtrack. Bread Punch is one of my favourite baits and I’m always surprised how few pleasure anglers use it! In winter I have seen it outfish bloodworm and joker! Most of my bigger 1 1/2 lb plus roach have been on this bait. I hope you are going to be at the Big One show as I must get a look at Cadence tackle. Bill
Easy Fishing Hi Bill, thanks for the message. Yes we will be at both Big One shows this year. Also the Northern Angling show. Be great to meet you. Cheers James
That's my favourite river hull peg that you were fishing ... whip and stickfloats my usual approach and among the roach there are some proper dog perch and the odd trout ... the last few years this area has been pestered by a big seal ! that frightens the hell out of you when it breaches in front of you .. great fishing lads well done ....
Where can I get a modified pole cup? He's a clever boy, is Monty. Try a sausage roll next time Paul. Another quality Cadence Friday Fishing Fix. Thanks
anne sparks Hi! The punch crumb is just white groundbait. I sieve it so it’s fine and then carefully mix with water. Usually mix it the night before and riddle it several times whilst gradually adding more water. Keep it in a sealed bag to stop it from drying out. The actual bread for the hook is simply a medium slice of white bread loaf. Normally I don’t prepare it in any way. Just get the freshest loaf I can find. Keep it in the bag until needed and change the slice as soon as it starts to dry out. Cheers James
Sure I fished this spot many years ago for the first time, all I caught was bootlaces from memory, but I was still a learner then. Some really nice tips, lads. Was it easy to get parked up to fish here, and not too long a walk?
It IS an anomaly for sure! The bigger question might be.."do fish really care that much?"..Answer - no-one can really say for certain! Food is food as far as fish are concerned I would suggest, so they are more than likely to take it despite it being white. I am not saying that using dark groundbait is always preferable either, it's simply that we might be too cautious in our approach sometimes. Just kidding ourselves? Like I said, nobody really knows. Sorry if that is a confusing answer!
Hi Luc, Its a good question! If I was feeding with baits like pinkies, castors, bloodworm then I would usually use a dark groundbait in winter, especially if the water is clear. When bread punch fishing the fish are clearly eating bread. In the UK white bread is popular for feeding and I believe it may be linked to the amount of white bread the public feeds to the ducks and swans! I’ve found that rivers away from the public / towns do not respond as well to bread punch. Also watched fish feeding on the bread that’s being fed to the birds in the water. So in conclusion I think white bread is a good source for many fish in the UK! Cheers James
Absolutely brilliant, so easy to watch and so enjoyable especially the banter between the two of you.
Great vid. The Punch rules.
Mr Punch kenj - angler, and author of Bread Punch Fishing 👍🏻
Missed my weekly Cadence fix, great video and made my mind up to go out on the punch this Sunday.
Well done James, not only on a good bag of Roach, but taking a pound from a yorkshireman.
He will get a surprise when he tries to spend it, we dont give good coins away lol !
Another great in formative video,a lot of good tips to think about, a hard earnt pound and the tissue was a nice touch.
Great video captures 2 mates having a great day out. .

Well done fellas , really enjoyed that . What a fantastic pole that Cp 2000 is , best I've ever used hands down .

Always such a pleasure to watch you both fishing and competing
A great roach fishing session by two accomplished anglers . looks a great venue , give me a net of roach any time.

Good stuff. Thanks. I use the Warburton's Toastie loaves too. A bit thicker sliced, so compress more and stay on the hook better.

great video as usual chaps
cheers, we were all a bit rusty getting back into the swing of things after holiday break! lol
Absolutely brilliant. Any chance on letting me know how you prepare your punch?

For roach I use a coffee/spice grinder with crusts off. And MVDE Brasem White 🤫. Bream I use a food processor with crusts on. And garlic powder 🤫
AS uses red gravel, I like that idea or the mixed. Also oyster shell 😉
Instead of rolling that bread sit on the whole thing 😉
Monty just checking you’re putting it through right.
Spot on
Sure I fished this spot many years ago for the first time, all I caught was bootlaces from memory, but I was still a learner then. Some really nice tips, lads. Was it easy to get parked up to fish here, and not too long a walk?
Yes very easy.👍
Hello amazing fishing 🎣 , may i ask where is located this place i would like to visit it , stunning place to relax and finishing
It is near Beverley East York, but it now closed season until June 16
Normally you would use a dark groundbait in the winter, liquidized bread is very pale. How does that work?
