@@alanbrown1650 time is the enemy in mid winter. Trying to get all the B roll shots I want as well as run three cameras on James. From his perspective he needs to make a worthwhile catch to validate the day. It's a full on day from dawn to dusk. But gradually longer days are coming now over the next period thank goodness. Glad you enjoyed it.
@@cadencefishinguk Chappy, please accept my humble apologies. My last comment has been edited to hide my ignorance! I realised that these excellent episodes of Cadance Fishing TV obviously take time and effort to produce, having read your last comment I felt that I may have unintentionally overlooked the amount of your effort and time expended, however I now have a better understanding of just how much time you,James and all of the other Cadance Ambassadors put in to make these successful. @@alanbrown1650 no worries mate. I always want to cram in more angles, but particularly in winter, time is the enemy and I was just trying to explain why. Working alone there's such a lot to think about. I suppose if one is not into film making then one doesn't realise what has to be done to make something good happen. Then there's the editing side too which can take me up to three days on top, especially for an hour long episode like this one. I am very self critical and always learning from my mistakes. Cheers and tight lines on the Thames👍
Just to let the wider community know, on Sunday 23/1/22, James won a team match with 144 lb of chub off peg 96! An amazing feat of angling. Well done chief👍👍👍
Great channel for folks to learn from. Yeah sure you guys are advertising your products from time to time, but I love how the videos mainly concentrate on the actual fishing and are full of information and tips. Also as I am from Ireland I appreciate the amount of wild venues you guys fish. To many Commercial carp videos on line
Well done James nice catch as usual from your good self nice 2 see you back on the bank n sharing your skills n techniques with us thankyou.ps dont leave it 2 long 4 the next video 😁
Great video. Watching your videos helped prompt me to fish the Fur and Feather match (My first match since the 1970's!) in early December. I'd forgotten how much fun the banter and fishing could be in matches. I was fortunate to catch over 50lb of carp in 4 hours and finish 4th but the main thing was how friendly the people were in the match. I am looking forward to fishing more next year when they begin. Thank you for helpin re-kindiling the match fishing bug!
Hi! Thats great to hear and well done on your latest match. I enjoy fishing matches (especially team matches) and being as competitive as possible. But I also enjoy a day pleasure fishing like in this video👍. It’s just great to get out and catch on a fantastic river like the Wye. Also a great way to practice and try different tactics and baits without the pressure of fishing a match. Good luck in your future matches. Cheers James
Great video James. Nice to see you, Chappy and Monty back on the banks. Really interesting and instructive too. Wishing you and everyone at Cadence a fantastic 2022.
@@grahamb8346 Hi Graham, I’ve never tried golf and don’t intend to! Hope to get more videos out soon, it’s been a busy year and I’ve struggled to get out to shoot videos at times. Have done a lot of fishing though 👍
Absolutely wonderful video James and Chappy. Some great info too much to take in, in one viewing. Inspired me to try a few new things. All the very best for 2022.
Lovely video. Thank you cadence team. This video gives me a bit of relief. In most whip videos people are using 0.12 mainline and 0.10-0.08 hooklenght. I am using 0.17 to 0.14 and start thinking its an overkill. Until i saw this video 😃. Cheers, Ivan.
Top video again James 👍absolutely brilliant river I fish the Warwickshire Avon often and it would take me 10sessions to catch that amount 😎like chalk and cheese 😎
Hi Richard, my ‘home’ river is the W Avon and I love it. The Wye can be exceptional and fishing as well as I’ve known at the moment. It can be a bit frantic at times and a more sensible match on the Avon can be just as rewarding😍
Thanks for the reply James 👍just wondered if you have had much pike problems this season 😂personally had a lot of days this season where I’ve been plagued by them 😂worse season I’ve ever known 👍
Always look forward to a trip on the Wye, even if it is 3 hours each way. Know doubt I will be getting a call from “Mick” after watching this. James knows who I am talking about. Well done again guys great video.
Hi James great video excellent fishing would be great to river severn come to life like the wye any plans to come and fish the river severn again soon👍
We had plans to fish the Severn that same day, but for a video at this time of year it needs to be nailed on, so it had to be the Wye. No doubt we will visit the Severn again soon though.
Hi Simon, many thanks for the comment. As Chappy mentioned I had planned to shoot this video on the Severn. I wanted to go roach fishing at Stourport but the levels kept coming up to high! The Wye at Hereford is so reliable at the moment and can be fished in higher level conditions. Hopefully get back on the Severn soon 👍
Hi Denis, I was fishing about 4-6 inches over depth most of the time. I added the extra shot directory below the olivette. I don’t think the droppers where dragging on the bottom. However the hook and hooklength would have been. Hope this helps! James
Brilliant video. Love the drone shots Chappy. On the flat float section (47 min) James appears to have a pole nose bung on the 6m section. Where do you get those and what size?
Thanks Pat. Drone is ideal for giving a sense of place to those who may never have been. The yellow dog didn't like it though, so I didn't use it much near James. I'm sure James will see your message and let you know about the bungs, I'd say PI.
Hi Robert, it’s the railings section on the far bank. The upstream peg we typically fish on the railings is 74 and this is opposite 48 on the Ash path. Cheers James
Thanks for the swift reply. Haven't managed a visit this year unfortunately but Iove fishing that stretch, have only really fished the 90s and 80s in the past though.
Fantastic video James. One of the best from Cadence. Would have been really usefull to get Chappie to film the flat float running through the peg to give old gits like me a bit more of an idea oh how to fish that method. Right its getting time to get off to the flooded Thames to try and catch a big chub or two.
Not to be pedantic Neil but flat floats don't really run through...they are designed to be held static, hence the footage does show this. Thanks for the kind comments. Chappy. PS there's a full video on how to fish the flat float on the site 👍👍❤️
Can someone please explain to me one thing. Dropper lead, those little shots at the end, do they sit on the bottom alongside the hooklenght so that when the fish picks it up the float goes up? Or are they off the bottom but still the float goes up when the fish take it?
Simplicity once again. Just not sure what's meant by overshooting? I'm assuming it means you hold back for control by lifting and dropping the float in the flow.
One of the best pleasure fishing videos that you can find online....love Monty too
I look forward to his video and I learnt a lot from his video
Great video again , good to see you back . Monty approved of that Perch :)
Welcome watching with excellent content and tips. Great to see you back.👍
Oh, and Monty!!
Great to see the Team back in action and what a lovely days fishing James. Those perch were real belters.

GREAT VIDEO
Great vid James as usual.
What a joy to watch the video. Amazing days fishing. How do you keep Monty out of the River?
A perfectly measured lead.
This took me back to my youth! I now live in Canada. Some great fishing but all big rigs. I miss the finesse of English river and canal fishing
Amazing where life's journey can take us, and how our memories can take us back again. Cheers Chris, glad you enjoyed it
Great video James. Extremely informative as always. Did you know you can wash those overalls....lol
Hi yes I have now washed them. A friend asked if they walked themselves back to the van! Messy business fishing on the Wye at times.
Another superb video, very informative 👏

Yes, not defined details yet, but as soon as we are clear of covid restrictions then it will be all systems go.
Enjoyed the vid.Does the dolly butt come with the standard 9m whip package? As does not seem to be mentioned on web site regards
Hi, yes confirm the mini extension is included with the 9m whip. Many thanks James
im surprised just how fast the current is. i tend not to use my pole on the dorset stour if itis pushing. might give it i go with my cp2000
Perhaps most surprising is just how close river fish will come in, so long as there is some depth.
