Man my old boss would make us run those discs down to almost nothing lol ive never used one like you have but i am impressed !!
Thanks heath its holding up well so far
I really liked this cup style grinding stone. We rigged it up into a milling machine to try to make a surface grinder. For some reason it wore our quickly when we used it that way. Maybe my forging was too rough or steel was too hard. It also made a hell of a mess using it that way
Yea prob the pressure in the wheel I only had the weight of the grinder on it and it cuts well. 👍
My dentist has a cup disk like that. It works a treat on my incisors and molars.
Haha, yea
Open wide!
They look awsome those grinding cups mate gona order one now top video 👍🤝
Yea mate its removed around 16ft of scale and steel now and only lost 3mm of grit 👍
I will also say the cup disc is faster than a grinding wheel and puts less heat into the steel. 👍
Hope all is well my friend. Have a great weekend
Thanks Dave, you too!
Nice Stone that bud. But 2hat about the mill with a fly cutter
too messy and way slower mate and mill just not big enough to hold the work
Hi there Loz ... the scale...nasty stuff. My recomodation is a 125 angle grinder with a ceramic Disk. Best one is Cubitron II extremely abrasive and good durabilty but pricy.
At my Workplace (normal metallworks) we also got the Recamic 125mm aggressive 90% but not as durable 80-90% and dont smear. We had the Norton disks a few years ago..hard,loud,expensive disks they get blunt even on normal Steel low abrasive...the used grain wont fly away and smear the disk (the effect you descibed).Didnt like them. Norton Fiberdiscs are pretty good in comparsion to the Cubitron II but Fiberdiscs no matter the manufaktuor get blunt with that hard scale in no time..
So not an Option here.
Don't know if the reca discs can be bought in the UK. I recommend testing different manufacturers to see which works best. Greetings
Thanks mate, good info just had a punt on this to try it out not too pricy but way better than any of the discs Ive tried ground those bars clean three times now with about 3mm of wear so already saved me £10 on a ceramic belt.
@@LozHarrop hey as long as you happy with it and it works ...why not ...and you absolitly right grinding the scale with a belt its way to expensive. Have a great day
Always wondered about these since we used to use them on surface grinding flywheels, but always struggled to find one to buy for a 9inch, where did you pick them up from? Cheers dude 👊
You could try it with a 125mm angle grinder, the size fits but not the speed (12000 rpm). So better use the middle grinder 180mm (8500rpm) grinder if you cant adjust the Speed.
amazon uk mate I just orderd another gone up to 12 quid typical
