  • Each character is gradually encountering new turning points, which could be either positive or regrettable, but none of these will make them stop...This will be a new starting point 😢

I'm glad you both keep reactings and sharing your thoughts on this show. Is always interesting to knew the point of view of someone who practice sport when they watch this kind of anime.
I hope we can see you soon once again with the next episodes.

Your brother was right that Smile understood the message of what Kongs coach said, not the words, and threw the match after

Great reaction. I love how engaged you are. I guess "braised eggs" means bald people? Heh.
The great thing about this show is that every character is almost equally important, human, and relatable, even the guy who went to the ocean. It's not good guys vs. bad guys.
Unlike Sakuma, Peco is lazy and relies on talent alone. In episode 1, he told the college kid that "hard work is for people with no talent."
Something to think about. Tsukimoto's weakness is sympathy. He naturally doesn't want to steal the game away from people who think that winning is more important than he thinks it is (Peco and Kong). The way he copes with this when the coach challenges him is the same way he copes with being bullied. By retreating into himself, doing as he's told, giving people what they want, and "killing his emotions" to force himself to not have sympathy. When we see him become the robot, our first instinct is to cheer for this, but is it actually a good thing? Is he actually learning to become passionate or care about winning? Is killing his emotions really a healthy way to deal with his problems? Or did the coach actually just accidentally bully him into acting this way too?

Many manga artists have been influenced by the author, Taiyo Matsumoto.
The early “One Piece” and “Naruto” were strongly influenced by other works by Taiyo Matsumoto.
Haikyu is even more strongly influenced
