I appreciate this video. I have a 09 MB E350 that was burning oil somewhere on the exhaust pipe. Once I learned where the PCV valve was from this video, I found the leak. I decided to change it myself. The operation was a success! Videos like this help owners like myself diagnose and repair problems. So thank you again for your tutorial help!

Thanks so much, I was smelling the oil, and since I am in the process of selling the car, I wanted to make sure the new owner was not left holding the bag! I did all of this in 10 min, and I made sure that all of the tools were in order. Step by step, thanks so much! BTW, I was quoted $1200 to do this job! including parts! 😆

The reason this mechanic changed these parts is because there were signs of oil in the throttle body. Your car may run perfectly fine and you may not even know your PVC valve is bad. So check your throttle body. If there are signs of oil. It means your PVC valve is not operating correctly. I approve this message 😌

Very informative video, thank you very much. I have an 08 350 4matic ad my current problem is with a burnt oil odor coming in through air vents when the fun is on. I am assuming its the PCV Valve gaskets that's causing maybe a seepage onto the exhaust or wherever it is hot and would the air follow to have burnt oil smells. Would you says replacing the PCV valve and gaskets would resolve the issue ?

  • @stephencannon3140

Head up for replacement the bolts for mine were 8mm E-Torx fastener. E-Torx is basically a inverted Torx. Where as Torx the fastener is the female end with E-Torx the socket is the female side and the bolt head is the male. If you have a socket or wrench set that works with multiple head bolts, 6 point, 12 point, spline, square etc.....a 8 mm would work. A low profile 1/4 inch drive should work for the two inner bolts...(the side with the breather hose). For the outer bolts probably a wrench, ratchet wrench, or a pass through socket will be easier. On e you get a few turns to break the initial torque it will probably be easier by hand at leas the top. The bottom outer bolt is against the curve of the firewall so good luck and be careful. If the wrench does fall through pray that it falls cleanly down to the ground instead of embedding itself somewhere in the Abyss of the engine bay. The new PCV Valve I purchased cake with T-30 Torx head fasteners. The outboard will be the same boat use a 90” Torx and thread as much as you can by hand. Finish the tightening with the 90 Torx and be careful not too cross or over thread.

Hello Brian, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2018 in advance. I am some issues with the Secondary Air Injection Pump of my 2006 Mercedes Benz E350. I have had to replace the pump twice in less than 2 months. The pumps come with a warranty so the shop did not charge for the second replacement though I had to replace the valves. Usually the pump doesn't stop after you start the vehicle for over 40 mins and in a few days, the check engine light will come on. Do you have any advice? Thanks a lot.
