As a lifelong Guy main, since SFA, I can confirm his Ultra 2 is the coolest thing in the world. It would actually make him a great character if it worked. But unlike virtually any other move in the game, you can't use input shortcuts to execute it. And unlike most Ultras/Supers, it's a half circle back instead of quarter circle. It would be one of the best punish moves in the game if you could consistently pull it off, but it's just so difficult, even for players with great execution. I could consistently land one frame links online, but had a ton of trouble pulling off his Ultra consistently. Before they nerfed SRKxxFADCxxDash forward, it was -2 and a common tactic fo many characters and players, and I used to get awesome punishes with U2. But as a zero frame throw, it should punish everything -1 or worse, which is difficult to do on reaction, but way harder with no input shortcuts. If it worked, it would have been a game changer for him, as he was vulnerable to rush down because his only reversal cost meter and you couldn make it safe. But if you had Ultra, the opponent would have to worry than any move -1 would lead to them losing half of their life. It would encourage people to try Andrew zone him even though he was so hard to zone with his Bushin flip, especially Ex, and same thing with run slide, especially EX, and even his shoulder could hit a predictable projectile, and was pretty safe on a bad read/guess.

I would say Ryu is a bit higher and Hakan is lower. Elena is SS tier and in some cases so is Poison. In general I agree with the rest. I love this game (I'm still playing, never got around to playing SF5 after 4, SF5 seems so boring). Thanks for the list Justin
@@OldChanCharlie I'd say he was pretty cheap in the first version of the game and easily top 3. Light shoryuken (that was active for so long) anti-air into ultra for good dmg. No meter needed. Don't know how many times I saw that. He sure wasn't very honest in the beginning which is why so many scrubs played him. Ultra version of Ryu was much weaker though.
Elena is s tier but not SS tier, she was cracked but i think evil ryu is better, imo best character in the game, how i see it, elena can use her ultra 2 3 times which is pretty broken, but everything evil ryu had is better, good pokes, massive damage and insane combos, 2 good ultras to combo from, dive kick and raging demon along with kara demon, evil ryus a menace, best character in this game imo.
Hi Justin thanks for the video! At the beginning i felt kinda triggered when you put Ryu in C considering he got 2 Evo tournaments in his back but then again i agree with that you said. He always starts beeing godlike at the beginning and then he can't abuse or evolve with the system when more characters are introduced.
no need to make comparison, why can't we all enjoy and appreciate both.... as long as you can buy the game and it has an online community to play with, pick what you prefer.
You're right, he doesn't owe anything, which is why I appreciated this video smh. As for my videos you ask? Sorry to disappoint you but they're non existent.
@UC98DqRRDSGQ0y68XEihDQzw Whats up everyone, this is Justin Wong and we are here with one of the most popular fighting games, STREET FIGHTER 4!! Now who is top tier? low tier?
Looking back at because pops wants that run back on the PS3 little does he know im scheming and studying for my training Edit also proud Ibuki main here
Guy's Instant air grab is vicious. I'd put him a little higher. And then of course, since I was a Vega player, I'd have him higher as well lol. The only reason people consider Vega trash is because his moves have very little invincibility and all of his links are 1 frame links but to that regard, if you know how to play Vega you know that he's not a combo heavy character anyway. He's best played defensively.
I didn't realize my main eventually made it to S tier. I was a C. Viper main . I played in tournaments for vanilla and Super and I think she was just mid back then. Hardly anybody used her either. I think I remember hearing during Arcade Edition somebody winning Evo with her. I'm not sure.
My favorite character of the whole series at the time was Adon, and Adon was the absolute best he's ever been in SF4. I was thoroughly pleased with what they did to my guy who i screamed to the heavens to put in Super
I love that he’s a straight vicious acrobatic Muay Thai fighter without being a shoto like sagat is. He really stands out not just from sagat but from the rest of the cast. His specials give him some sick movement. He’s gotta come back man lol Surprised he didn’t come back in v
I appreciate the acknowledgment that I have to work harder with Vega to win in this game. I still say Dan has a dp and a tatsu mix up while Deejay has a good fireball and ex dp as well knee bazooka which has priority and allows a change of jump arc so I’d say both those bottom 3s are stronger though I would say Deejay is a C tier imo
@@johndcoffee632 When I first started learning some more games, and trying out more conventional characters I was like....holy moly, characters have these awesome, useful, straightforward options in fighting games? Blown away lol
My thoughts on the whole list: S-Tier: Can't really argue, i can see the argument for Gief and Abel. I would've put Poison in there too. A-Tier: Bit surprised by the Guy choice but i can't argue, he's mad good and slept on. Chun is in A i feel. Maybe Bipson, Bipson prolly B. B-Tier: Can't put Oni in here before Makoto dawg :P Balrog, Chun and Hugo have to be B-Tier or A-Tier C-Tier: Really feel like you're sleeping on Balrog, Chun and Hugo Trash: Yea, accurate. Might throw Honda and Sim in here too. Overall, very good list. Lots of really accurate and uncommon opinions in here like Adon, Rolento, Gief, Rose, Abel, Ken, Fuerte
Chun had a couple of 3-7 match ups, like anyone can whip out a 5 minute Poison and braindead fireball spam. Hard to be A tier with that kind of weakness IMO.
All I can say that, I didn't own any console after ps1 but I saw a footage of diago playing as ryu in sfiv and diago was the man who made me to buy sfiv pc version and a atrox arcade stick, before that my last street fighter game I played was alpha 3 on ps1.
Vega was only low tier in vanilla. At the end of USF4 vega is defo mid tier. Zeus destroyed you in East Coast Throwdown, with a perfect at the last round.
I feel like for newbs on up through intermediate levels Vega was actually really strong. Vanilla he was true garbage, but for the rest of the series, and especially in Ultra, he seemed pretty good. I played him quite a bit, and had success at most levels with him(online).. but whenever you'd watch pro tournaments he'd have a rough time. It's just Like J.Wong says in the video, it's more of a testament to how strong most USF4 characters were than it is a knock against the bottom tier.
@@schweedy1985 I hear you. You can def win no doubt but I agree with Justin Wong. He really should lose to most characters and it takes more skill to play with him. Justin Wong is def right with his assessment
@@keepingitrealgoesright1308Oh definitely, I wasn't saying he was wrong at all. I was just meaning that at lower levels of play where people aren't fully prepared to fight against Vega, he's actually pretty strong. He only starts to fall apart once you get to higher levels and people are prepared for his shenanigans.
I am no pro player and I am no master on say, Blanka. But if others can play him at 120% we say, they play him at 120%, but when popular characters are played to the fullest potential, we say they are high tier or cheap. I think Blanka has an absolutely disgusting amount of range in this game. He has a lot of safe poke / neutral and footsies. He has a TON of range with his normals as well. He has the slide and his dash back / forward and old school Vega like evade.... make him so he can keep people guessing.I guess the problem is when you can switch sides in a blink, you cant also charge moves. If they gave him traditional shodo move commands he would be God tier. I think the mixup on blanka is very good and people never seem to see it till way later. Like in Turbo.
Capcom should DEFINITELY release a comemorative balance patch to USFIV! One of the greatest fighting games ever, and we have an active community still playing it. No need to invest development, or new characters. Just frame data and damage adjustments. It bothers me to this day that Elena is on Leroy´s level of nerfing needs. It would be much appreciated and would bring back a lot of players.
On the 3DS you could make the buttons (a,b,y,x)be a charge move and it made Balrog unbeatable I figured out a strat for every character and destroyed grandmasters
Elena is S tier when compared to the roster as a whole for sure. However, she has bad match ups against other "S" tier characters like Evil Ryu, Akuma, Cammy, and Yun. A lot of her really dominating match ups are also characters that you don't see on a regular basis in top level play, unless it's someone counter picking. I think this makes her a great counter, counter pick however. If you beat someone in the first match, and they make a counter pick and beat you in the second, chances are that character is one that gets bodied by her.
I used to be the one of the best Kens in the world. I was ranked #1 in USF4(ps4) and #50(ps3) world online before. But overall I say I’m at least top 25 - 100 in the world. I didn’t play much too much but that was definitely the best sf game that could possibly pass sf2

@@venicebeachsportsnetwork6677 Lol, that cross up slash gots nothing against the one year palm duration Yun did, day 1 released.
@@Bluzlbee Oni could hit the ultra from any where on screen using that cross up slash move. At lower level online play it was the cheapest thing I'd ever seen. The bad players never even used Yun
I think you underrate Chun, Juri, and Yang. They are probably A Tier
Maybe Yang but those other two aren't really better than ryu or Sagat
Yang for sure
Chun was fantastic as long as you were in control of the pace, but she always felt rough when under pressure. Your only option was exsbk, and every decent opponent knew it.
Especially after how hard Valmaster washed him. To be honest, his tier list only works til Ibuki. Everything after is shit
this is the only usf4 tier list on youtube thank you
It’s kind of weird that Elena and Chun Li switched places from Street Fighter 3 to 4
i want to see USF4 tier list next !
this one was great, really well said !
do it again and we will hear other opinions that didnt get said this time !
i do enjoy listening to your opinions on these matters.
well said.
oh lol hi
I would say Ryu is a bit higher and Hakan is lower. Elena is SS tier and in some cases so is Poison. In general I agree with the rest. I love this game (I'm still playing, never got around to playing SF5 after 4, SF5 seems so boring). Thanks for the list Justin
Wiktor Kasz Yeah Ryu should be higher. He’s too honest though compared to his shoto counterparts
Damn boy, put more question marks in the title and some red highlights in the thumbnail, will ya?
Slick video!
This video makes more happy to know that I bought Ultra SFIV instead of AESFV
Yomart1 -__- belive me you make the best decition...ill tel you the truth usf4 >>>> sfv champion edition...its more fun to play.
@@kolykarolina4656 nah, SFV:CE is a better game imo and more fun
no need to make comparison, why can't we all enjoy and appreciate both.... as long as you can buy the game and it has an online community to play with, pick what you prefer.
@@debo2189 You are correct sir, both games are great fun
@@johndcoffee632 both games are great fun, but SFV has a bigger online/competitive scene rn.
I miss the SF4 days I feel like the FGC was so alive in comparison to today.
Although this video is a a few years too late, I still appreciate J.Wong for creating this Tier list. Cheers!
The man doesn't owe you chit. Where are your videos?
You're right, he doesn't owe anything, which is why I appreciated this video smh. As for my videos you ask? Sorry to disappoint you but they're non existent.
Years late tier lists are the best kind. Full of hindsight and mostly lacking in emotional baggage.
I love the claris music in the background.
Fuck i must rewatch oreimo and eromanga sensei
@UC98DqRRDSGQ0y68XEihDQzw
Whats up everyone, this is Justin Wong and we are here with one of the most popular fighting games, STREET FIGHTER 4!! Now who is top tier? low tier?
Nice to meet u, Justin^^
Hv u been to the SF4 EVO b4?
I love USF4. Ryu and Ken are my two favorites to play as.
I’m waiting for Street Fighter X Tekken tier list.
Looking back at because pops wants that run back on the PS3 little does he know im scheming and studying for my training
Edit also proud Ibuki main here
Guy's Instant air grab is vicious.
Latif finished second evo 2011 .... lost to fuudo in grand final
My favorite character of the whole series at the time was Adon, and Adon was the absolute best he's ever been in SF4. I was thoroughly pleased with what they did to my guy who i screamed to the heavens to put in Super
Yeah Same here, wanted to play him seriously since alpha2, and was so satisfied with him in sf4.
I love that he’s a straight vicious acrobatic Muay Thai fighter without being a shoto like sagat is. He really stands out not just from sagat but from the rest of the cast. His specials give him some sick movement. He’s gotta come back man lol
Surprised he didn’t come back in v
I appreciate the acknowledgment that I have to work harder with Vega to win in this game. I still say Dan has a dp and a tatsu mix up while Deejay has a good fireball and ex dp as well knee bazooka which has priority and allows a change of jump arc so I’d say both those bottom 3s are stronger though I would say Deejay is a C tier imo
A really cheap super to ultra as well
I was a Hakan main since Super and it was the first fighting game I ever got into seriously/competetively. Talk about making it hard for yourself.
Lol, man Hakan was bad in super. By ultra he was solid but very difficult to optimise. Bet you learned how to play tho
@@johndcoffee632 When I first started learning some more games, and trying out more conventional characters I was like....holy moly, characters have these awesome, useful, straightforward options in fighting games? Blown away lol
Miss this game so much. Thx for da content!
The only fighting game where all the characters I found fun were mid/top tier
Cheers Justin, stay safe with your family . Thank you for the content
Can we get a tierlist on easiest to hardest characters to play?
Brilliantly done Jwong
Brings back so many good memories man...
How awesome would it be if Justin did a video elaborating on his plinking tactics with Rufus and just about plinking in general in SFIV
Favorits are juri and cammy. Now we need a street fighter 5 tier list. Ultra one of my Favorit fighting games.
That Oreimo mashup in the beginning tho
My thoughts on the whole list:
S-Tier: Can't really argue, i can see the argument for Gief and Abel. I would've put Poison in there too.
A-Tier: Bit surprised by the Guy choice but i can't argue, he's mad good and slept on. Chun is in A i feel. Maybe Bipson, Bipson prolly B.
B-Tier: Can't put Oni in here before Makoto dawg :P Balrog, Chun and Hugo have to be B-Tier or A-Tier
C-Tier: Really feel like you're sleeping on Balrog, Chun and Hugo
Trash: Yea, accurate.
19:00 (english subtitles) "after that we're gonna go of cookin cocaine" lol
Cookin cocaine's pretty strong
Claris-Irony on an usf4 tierlist in 2020.
Man, my saturday just got good!!
Guile and DJ were my mains while Honda and Rose were my trolling characters 😊
All I can say that, I didn't own any console after ps1 but I saw a footage of diago playing as ryu in sfiv and diago was the man who made me to buy sfiv pc version and a atrox arcade stick, before that my last street fighter game I played was alpha 3 on ps1.
You're a living legend. Keep up the good work
Zeus won a major with Vega, Amazing!
decapre teleport was so crazy
I really feels like you're fighting a ghost a lot of the time 😂
Vega was only low tier in vanilla. At the end of USF4 vega is defo mid tier. Zeus destroyed you in East Coast Throwdown, with a perfect at the last round.
Top 10
1. Akuma
2. Elana
3. El Feurto
4. Rufus
5. Yun
6. Oni
7. Seth
8. Poison
9. Rolennto
10. Decapre
Coming from a Makoto player
Whats sad is if you took dan and copy pasted him into sf5 hed probably be top tier.
I actually have pride knowing Vega, my main was bottom 3 and still was winning natches though certain matchups ie Rufus were a nightmare
@@schweedy1985 for sure I agree there
Most practical tierlist ever. How about the other way around? If you where a bot, what character would win?
SSS tier: Dan
I play vega and i feel proud that he is trash tier cause winning makes it feel more good
ehh the first ultra on oni is dope asf when u get the close range animation especially with the ko laugh he does
To get rid of the ads. Fast forward to the end of the video. Press the replay button. You're welcome.
Thanks justin its nice to know you still believe fei long has potential cuz all my friends think the opposite
Wonder how this would change if you allow version select. Which broken character was most broken?
I used to be the one of the best Kens in the world. I was ranked #1 in USF4(ps4) and #50(ps3) world online before. But overall I say I’m at least top 25 - 100 in the world. I didn’t play much too much but that was definitely the best sf game that could possibly pass sf2
Would love to see your Super Turbo tier list.
Is that that wario ware DIY soundtrack. So fire
Thx Justin for throwing my Roo almost into the trash can 🥴
What I like about him is that he is the straight forward, no gimmick type of character. But I guess you are right.
I'm an ok-2.000pp-online-player with sucking defense habbits. I feel almost always in a disadvantage against no-Shotos.
The PS4 version makes it much worst....worst then playing under water...anti airs straight with the head 🤕 guaranteed.
I always thought the 5 characters added in ultra were kinda too good I'm dumb ways. We needed another balance patch especially for rolento 😂
Rolento and Elena. Jwong was right, every top player will probably have a pocket Elena when it's all said and done, and it's sako's fault. Lol
Looks great, the only ones I disagree with are Dudley, Guy, Makoto, Gouken, El Fuerte
Yeah, guy in A is lol. I agree.
@@yourstillwithme were would you put guy?
@@fistpump64 Low B or high C. Hes not BUTT tier but hes not bad at all either. Hes low mid tier
@@yourstillwithme maybe I'm just to much of a baby because I always thought he was a highe mid tier at worst he also seemed like a really cool and strong character but then again I'm kind of younge so playing sf4 I was like a kid haha.
Dudley should be A tier and guy should be B tier
juri is always #1, oni and evil ryu are awesome too
I wanna know if Justin thinks SFV is better or worse than SFIV and why. It would be nice hearing a pro talk about the pros and cons of both.
Good video. Do more games!
1:01 breh Eduardo still on that Barlog though x,DD
I main El Fuerte, so Elena was never a problem. Also, my pocket was Hugo, and that character was WAY better than what people believe. IMO, he is B+ A- material. That armor st.hp knockdown... that was brutal as an anti-air or against fireballs... that was totally ridiculous.
Yeah I remember bodying your Fuerte and Hugo in a FT3 with my Vega.
Music?
