My favorite line from Flashpoint: "You could've gone back and killed Hitler or made sure he stayed in art school, but no. You missed your Mommy!"
It's a dumb line though considering this whole story is butterfly effect warning. How do they know the Nazi party wouldn't have instead gotten a leader who just decided to wait out the winter. That's why Red Alert writers were big brain they at least gave it some thought beyond "tiny mustache man bad".
@@Sifer2 I always saw it as Thawne just continuing to mock Barry. He knows that actions like killing Hitler would have unforeseen consequences. But again, his whole argument against Barry is that he was both too ignorant to foresee such consequences and was too selfish when he chose saving his mother as the one thing to do when going back in time. As the Flash, a member of the Justice League who embody hope, one could easily imaging a great number of changes to history that could be done with the intentions of making the world a better place. But what does Barry do? He goes back in time to save his mommy. A selfish action, that only benefitted himself and put others at risk.
@@adityadaita9213 and the way he delivered the whole speech was great. He sounded like a parent scolding a child.

I think that Superman's ability to actually aim with his heat vision requires practice, which Flashpoint Superman does not have.
I like this idea- maybe Superman can still see with his x-ray vision or something, but flashpoint superman hasn't learned how to use his powers in tandem.
@@parkerdixon-word6295 having been locked away from the outside world all his life, it makes sense for that to be the case
It could be true the Superman cannot see during heat vision, but could still track people with super hearing. If the guy can hear anyone's heartbeat, with experience he could track people without seeing them. Also I guess x-ray vision, but scientifically x-ray vision would be blocked by high frequency photons.

So if the Flashpoint story was already dark, then this would be dark on top of dark. Like a big devil's food cake...
...Makes you hungry.
yup
Food cake?
@superboy prime clearly it's not
ruclips.net/video/XjtkWZ1uCXo/видео.html
basically this
Shouldn’t this have had all the dark cancel each other out and ended up happy like everything was fine and worked out lol
From Thawne's narration, it wasn't Thomas Wayne that influenced his choice. It was Superman still trying to save him, despite him being, well, THAWNE. Which is why he had a change of heart and tried to create a better universe in the end.
Cool avatar 👍
To be honest, this story was dark, but it kinda ended on a positive note. The only real issue is that it depends on Reverse Flash wanting to remain positive
So basically the universe became it's own Multiverse.
Omniverse. individual multiverses
Not exactly. It's a single universe that keeps changing over and over again every time Eobard runs back in time and alters the past. Every time Eobard alters the past, a new version of history overwrites the previous version of this universe's history.
@@praveenvijeyakumar741have you heard the river analogy for time travel?
Each time he time travels he splits the stream. Each stream is technically a unique earth. The only difference between that and parallel earths is the streams will end up merging every time the choice made is forgotten by history.
Flashpoint, but from the Dark Multiverse's perspective? Noice
@superboy prime uh what??
@superboy prime correct me if I'm wrong but flashpoint did not create the multiverse it just messed up the timeline giving us new 52
@superboy prime it might of affected the negative earths

Dr. Manhattan: Oh, you again?
I’m gonna be on the toilet for 20 minutes, thank you Rob.
@Chris the 9 hour Green Lantern video makes my ass numb.

So basically...
DC just made another Eobard Thawne to replace the one that died. If your multiverse's Thawne is dead, get one from another!
Wonder how Thawne from Earth 3 looks.

i mean dark multiverse its same
Wait...if there’s a Flashpoint in the Dark Multiverse, which is a Crisis, does that mean there is a cluster of multiverses in the Dark Multiverse that would be affected by the Flashpoint? And would that mean there is a Dark Multiverse...for the Dark Multiverse?
At least they got a sneaky way bring back reverse flash without changing happy ending from last flash big storyline
There can't be a Dark Multiverse of a Dark Multiverse because the Dark Multiverse is the reflection of the Positive Multiverse's greatest fears. Think of it as a coin and the side that faces the light is the New 52 Multiverse while the one that is in the shadow and opposite side is essentially the Dark Multiverse. There can't be an inception because the concept doesn't allow it.
The darkest multiverse who laughs
@@blitzwolfer4154 but if events that occurred seem to have a Dark Multiverse Earth where they still occurred (Infinite Crisis, Flashpoint, Blackest Night which can only happen if Crisis on Infinite Earth happened), then Dark Nights Metal should’ve happened, too?

Some questions to help with determining Superman's vision is "What does the anatomy of the superman eye look like?" and "What is the mechanism that releases the energy?
Well it's all fantasy anyway so you can just make up a fan theory. I would guess that since Superman's body can absorb large quantities of solar energy/electricity his powers come from being able to release it in various ways. Eyes absorb light but maybe his can also reflect it back out. Really the frost breath makes less sense to me.
In cyclops case his eyes are portals to a punch dimension that are charged by solar radiation
Jav253 lowers the air temperature in his lungs like a fridge and it’s so cold that it can freeze things ?
If someone find this to lengthy forgive me
@@Sifer2 what you said about heat vision is right , Superman being born on a red Sun can able to metabolise radiation from yellow star (sun) and able to store it use it as a fuel . That's why Superman was in regeneration matrix in THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN . I guess in comics that Superman can control his heat vision since he is shown to use heat vision invisible to naked eye enabling to use it without being caught as kal-el . Therefore i would say maybe like a camera when a text is clicked with torch on the photo is too bright and nothing (text) is visible , similarly when Superman uses heat vision uncontrollably he would has to guess where his target would move since it would be too bright for his eyes to see . But if he can use X Ray vision( which i don't understand since if we consider it emits some sort of radiation like X Ray there must be a receiver which must receive radiation emitted by his eyes , behind the object/place the target be would like to scan to form any images ) while using heat vision he maybe able to see .
As for as freeze breathe it expands on a scientific principle that compressed air when speedily pushed through a restricted opening rapidly reduces the overall temperature of the burst.
Many say that since gravity is high in Krypton than on earth , Superman's flight is actually thanks to low gravity combined with radiation absorbtion from yellow Sun .
This explains kinda

His dark multiverse counterpart is just the good guy, imagine
wouldnt that be like crime syndicate version of a good guy reverse flash?
This was the best dark multiverse story yet. The rest were really without imagination compared to this one
I’d give the Death of Superman one credit for paying such amazing attention to continuity, playing with it, and overall delivering a very painful, visceral emotional gut punch.
Agreed. It felt like a part of the Main Multiverse instead of the Dark Multiverse
Not gonna lie, I really liked the Wonder Woman one

Ain't Eobard Thawne a hypocrite for judging Barry for time travel.
Not really. Thawne is a surgeon with a scalpel, barry has a chainsaw.
@@nickolaibernar16 Technically he does because he did change the time for his own personal reasons
How? 🤔
Common sense tells you that heroes shouldn't do bad things, like Flash screwing with time.

Flashpoint was an amazing story that took the DCU down a fairly dark path. Granted the new 52 was, a questionable decision. So the idea of a dark multiverse rendition of a already dark story, I'm intrigued. Excellent work as always Rob.

DC's Dark Multiverse is really building up into something more than just their answer to "What If." Looking forward to that rumored payoff of all these stories coming together for an event.
Crossing fingers
This is better than what if
Looking forward to that one sinestro with life and death rings.
DC had that with "Imaginary Tells" which years later were turned into other realities.
"Superman" Kal-El is very Skilled like "Cyclops" Scott Summers.
Yeah I did not know Scott could different things until the xmen legends games
@@johnlawful2272 What do you mean by different things?
I always liked how Smallville interpreted Superman's heat vision. Instead of a solid red beam, it's like waves of heat, like a mirage or something. He could easily be able to see through that.
The flashpoint animated movie is amazing and a must watch.
I was expecting Thawne to kill all hero’s and villains, bring Barry back to life and then torture him till the end of time
Eobard is one of my favorite villains and seeing him here is just great.
I feel the way he uses his heat vision is equivalent to the way cyclops uses his optical beams
What I love about this story is how Thawne became the centerpiece of the whole story
He's not really the hero of the story but if you think about it he's not truly the villain either
rob, you misunderstood at the start.
it wasn't Reverse Flash that killed him.
when the lightning hit and tap into the speed force, it pulled RF into that timeline by the lightning strike. the thing is, its one of RF alt time self, as you see him still running to prevent flash from going back in time.
it was the lightning that straight up killed barry than leaving him badly hurt.
I think Superman doesn't see using normal vision while emitting his heat vision. I think he uses any of his other 50+ types of vision, probably x-ray or infrared
Agreed
Or his hearing if he can hear every person in the worlds cries for health he can definitely hear if whoever he's shooting at does a dodge roll
Well he is either seeing through the beam as a narrow vision as it heads straight. Or he basically eco locates with sonar sounds while simultaneously firing the beam. I imagine Superman as a photo-synthesizing plant with heat ray powers running like how a electric eel distributes electricity but through the eyes making the eye beams stronger the more stored Solar Radiation he has amassed
@@wavemaster4891 So if we're discussing this scientifically, it much more likely that echolocation is being used since our vision is the product of light stimulating our rods and cones in our retinas and processed through our bipolar and ganglion cells and sent as information through the optic nerve. This means that if he really does have heat vision, then no light other than that of the laser enters his eyes and therefore nothing gets processed as visual information. This means that he would need another method of external location. This shouldn't affect his position and coordination because of his vestibular and kinesthetic senses
Why’s thawn have red pants ? Looks more like Wally’s costume .. I like his animated universe outfit where his pants are yellow .. or like CW with black on them
I always felt he couldnt see with his heat vision activated. I always thought it was his other senses compensating kind of like daredeviil
Like the super hearing
He's been shown multiple times to be able to do this
Dude, your work reviewing the Dark Multiverse issues is top-notch. Thank you for stepping up and bringing it to us.
In Smallville, Clark's heat vision was transparent. Of course though, in Smallville, Clark could manipulate his heat vision to do different direct paths such as squinting his eyes to make his heat vision more precise.
Eobard Thawne - "Ah time travel! The cause & solution to... all of my problems."
2 days old and only 80k views?! Man that's honestly upsetting. The Flash is one of the coolest superheros and deserves more love. Thank you for the good video Rob
I think aiming his beams was learned by Superman later on.
I think Superman, shouldn't be able to see with his heat vision.
You could argue he can use his super hearing, but I like the limitations.
He shouldn't be able to see because?

Rob. That was super amazing. OMG. I fully enjoyed that. "Let me tell you man". 👍🏿👏🏿
This is the best story I've read in a loooong time. Kudos!
Of course he can see through his heat vision. It's shown it in comics before. I mean he just stands around angry sometimes with his eyes glowing red from it and not actually shooting at people. He's just standing around blind cuz he's angry? But it's also shown panels of like red tinted Vision that he's seeing through
I'll have to reread but I don't think Thawne killed Berry. The lighting did for whatever reason instead of bringing his powers back
I will be honest your consistency is top notch you put out the just the right story’s 💯👌🏽
The reverse flash design in this book the best best design for any flash character ever
so this version of thawn just lost his morals around timetravel and became someone without an equal force to hinder him
So essentially like the Red Death? :o
no, this version is the best and he is doing what any human would do with infinite power
Oh, but youtuber described what happened to you in a wrong way. He did not lost morals around timetravel this time, because he did not have it for aeons. No, now, when Barry was dead and humliated, Thawne found semblance of morals. It became his world. His own. And now free of his vendetta against Barry, he became free to pursue his initial dream of becoming Flash. Since it is his world, Thawne argued, he'll not let anybody take it from him or destroy it. And so he amassed his own League... or perhaps even Legion.

Is hearing interpreted by the brain at the same rate at vision?

Rob, please cover "The Last Stories of the DC Universe"
About the heat vision: I believe Superman can still track you when using heat vision. Even if we suppose he may not be able to see through the beams, his other senses are on super human levels as well and his reaction time is almost as fast as the Flash. He would be able to use his other senses to discern the direction your dodge and adjust accordingly.
Woooot. Awesome! Thanks! Made my day!!!
@17:54 Huh, looks like Barda is Darkseid in this universe now. Wonder how that took place.
My take is that there was some big war between Apocolips and New Genesis. New Genesis lost, but Darkseid died.
Undead Lightray and Orion in Apocolips army are indicating on it.
so threw his actions with the dark speed force he turned this dark universe into his one isolated time paradox that he can change as he wills
The Final Knight must be watching Eobard Thawn as that universe fades in and out of obscurity.
The was a live action TV show called Superboy. It also had a short comic book series based off of it. I can't remember if it happened in the TV series or the comic book series, but at one point Superboy's powers were amplified so much that he couldn't control them. In this story he revealed to Professor Peterson that he can actually see when he uses his heat vision. it's just that what he sees is red and hazy. So, I believe that he can actually see while using the heat vision to a degree.
Man why am i so proud of my boy Eobard Thawne!

On Superman seeing through his Heat Vision: I would say "Yes", that's the way its always seemed to work before. I"m certain there are moments in comics and animation where he has tracked a moving object while firing his Heat Vision.
Strangely enough, Marvel's Captain Ersatz version of Superman, Hyperion, actually does operate in the 'can't see when he shoots' mode, at least going back to the 'Squadron Supreme' limited series. He would line up the target in his vision, roll his eyes WAY back to expose the energy emitting portion of his eyeballs, then fire. Of course, he could do this so quickly it would look like he could see what he was firing at.

In answer to the Superman heat vision tracking question, it’s an interesting concept. It’d make sense if he couldn’t. But if he could, it’s one thing to see where the target is moving. But it’s another thing to actively move a laser (two lasers) along its path. Ignoring the utter carnage that you’d leave in their wake, I can’t imagine it being easy to control the movement of his heat vision whilst its active to stay accurate.
