it's seriously about time they gave Grayson his dues.... they fucked with his character too much in the past. His time as a spy was fine but that amnesia "Rick Grayson" storyline was awful.
Batman, Spiderman, Superman are the 3 biggest moneymakers from comics. I think Nightwing is kinda the perfect amalgam of all 3. He's got the darkness and detective skills of Batman, the upbeat neighborhood-orientation and acrobatic style of Spiderman, and the inspirational hopeful qualities of Supes..... How the eff can somebody not turn that into a success.

I love how much focus and respect this comic gave Nightwing, Nightwing is up there with my favorite DC characters and even close to getting to my ten favorite superheroes so it’s always great to see stuff like that
He actually been tbh secretly a major player but tbh they lead the major storylines with him before it’s becomes major. They foreshadow with Grayson and then whenever the major storyline happens the major hero’s help and Grayson becomes the damsel in help or is like a side character or stops all together to let the hero’s deal with it but also there the moment where he’s beaten up and held captive😂

And I honestly love that Dick has always been THAT guy to people like us who loved him from the beginning. But DC has slowly just been putting him more and more in the front. People will not want this. This is exactly why Old Republic is working, and what Disney is doing doesn't. Old Republic didn't use an old icon to build their plot. They created something new. If you want a new generation to be succesful, you need to avoid old icons. If you don't, then you will have people complaining about it. Look at what happened with Hal Jordan. Three different new Lanterns, but people kept demanding Hal's return for over a decade. And right now he's still the most loved Green Lantern BY FAR. Kyle was supposed to have that torch, and sure, he had a spotlight for a while, but eventually faded to the point that he's kind of irrelevant right now. If you erase Batman, Superman and WW, people will start complaining. As a matter of fact, Dark Crisis made people think that they would dispose the old heroes, and people were already complaining about it. But what they're doing with Nightwing it's quite smart. They won't turn him into the focus, like a Batman, but he will not fade like Kyle did. Nightwing is receiving enough respect in comics, and he has been present in every possible saga. I really don't see why people complains about Nightwing not receiving enough attention. He does. He receives the most attention he can receive, without perpetually damaging the character like it happened with Kyle... and also, kind of, Wally West.

So this is the new idea for Comicstorian going forward. One or Two on Camera recaps/rants/discussions in comics, then up to 3 Full Stories throughout the week. Next week we have two already scheduled for the break. The Complete stories will be regulated to the indies (TMNT/BlackRadiant/Power Rangers) and the occasional story that is just never ending (Batman stories, Spider-Man stories that kind of thing) What do you think of this? Would this shift be good?
@Franky because it's a lot of extra work for nothing. All tracks are organized in giant folders by emotion or moment. The video is 2 hours. Someone would have to take the time to write down all tracks on the final version as many are tested, then write it all down in the description, all for the 10 people who are looking for one of those tracks.
Real problem with comics rn is that they CANNOT change the status quo. I have been hyped for Nightwing slow progression from a batman second hand hero to pretty much the face of dc rn but I know that eventually all this stuff will revert back to the status quo...
I don’t want change. I still want the trinity, Flash, Green Lantern, etc being the face of DC. I like night wing and don’t mind storylines or events where other characters are the main heroes, but overall I don’t want them to take over as the face of DC

I just found your channel two days ago, and I really wanted to thank you. I was a huge Robin fan growing up, but didn't get into the comic books until 2009. So, I was a naive reader when the New 52 happened, which killed my love for comic books. The DC live action stuff seemed like the final nail in the coffin. I gave comic books up until a couple of days ago, when I stumbled upon your dramatic reading of the Nightwing becomes a God storyline, while I was trying to distract myself from the general dread of being alive. Dark Crisis was a disappointment and it didnt need to be. They should have hewed to Grant Morrison's Multiversity weirder, dark material much more closely, and done more with the 52 universes and done less with Pariah and more directly with the Great Darkness vs Light. Instead of 52 becoming infinite earths (again) it could have been 52 Universes and all time wiped out and a TRUE BIG RESET. Also Flashpoint Beyond also stole some of Dark Crisis' thunder while DC editorial wasn't brave enough to try something which could have been BIG: have two events cross over with each other. Too late now...
The entire point of the story arc is to bring back infinite earths, because it allows for more story possibilities in the future. Infinite earths were removed because it was confusing, but now with the internet being so common, convoluted plots can easily just be researched online. Besides all the flagship stories are so interconnected you need backstory anyway. Regardless of whether it would be better for this specific story, the infinite earths coming back was kind of inevitable as the other earths being so bound to an idea was limiting what they could do, especially as they kept being reset. It also made the multiverse too small. Everyone knew what every universe was doing, so it was hard to justify random threats or enigmas coming from a never talked about one.
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer even Flashpoint was only a soft reboot, they kept a lot from the old universe, including specific events. It was one of the reasons the continuity was so fucked, nobody knew what was or wasn't canon, anymore. The last full reboot DC did was the beginning of the Silver Age.
I'm glad you are doing this, because I stopped reading comics a while ago because of the foolishness. If not for you, I would not have paid attention to this and would have missed out on what could be a decent narrative. I hope they truly reset everything, including the writers and the new weird, pushy standpoints. God knows comics are doomed of they don't. Like - why was kyle rayner captured - why does rose have both eyes - what happened to slade's kids? - i thought beast boy and raven were damian's age. Why do they look Dick's age? - why are there two swamp things

The fact that they brought sideways back and gave him such an important role instead of just him being in one-two panels and that’s it says a lot. They screwed him over when they didn’t continue his comic book series but I’m seriously hopeful that they’ll actually start to care for his character after this event which makes me so happy. That is a great crisis story!😁 And I’m shocked that the Justice League is disassembled. But this is not the first superhero team is disassembled. The Avengers did that but they reassembled instantly become the world needs them. And the Justice League does that too because the world and the multiverse still needs the Justice League.
Tl;dr I'm fed up with dc going with ambitious narratives coming off from a crisis event, imo they need to hard reset. Not a crisis event this time just a shut down, an announcement and then a reopening. Can Dc stop with these big ambitious storylines right after a crisis? Like don't get me wrong its nice, but right now for how things are I'd feel doing more isolated and smaller story lines would be of better use then ever before especially if they're planning on soft, hard, whatever rebooting dc comics. Also the destroyed meta human idea, that has been done to death! The boys and marvel have already have dug that idea deep into the minds of fans, all of this is just adding more to the fire unnecessarily. Not to mention that the idea breaks apart when approaching dc, as it has been shown time and time again that powers are necessary, sure people like batman are needed to but without power, how are they planning on destroying someone like doomsday In a narrative sense? Simply put there is no answer, not a direct one anyway. To me all this is, all that dc is doing is trying to copy what is popular atm, nothing more. I wish they do something thats creative rather then feeding on already fed ideas and plot lines that have been done by other comics and media and even themselves! It is an ouroboros of recycled ideas that have been done to death. literally there is a page showcasing heroes who are literal copy and pastes of one another.

This is why I'll probably never get into DC comics. Any time I like a character like Blue Beetle or Sideways they'll get cancelled and then the whole universe gets destroyed or rebooted making sure that character has almost no chance of making a comeback.

I understand what you are saying and there HAS been too many reboots and DC has admitted to the fact. The truth is too many crises too closely done and on top of it the various earths, so a new comic book fan can find it very difficult to jump in now and be current in understanding what is going on. Not everyone knows comic terminology and ferailgart18 if you are advit comic fan then help don't simply correct. I am not saying you meant to but words without a voice is rough to understand. John use this channel and go back to all the rebirths and take your time because you will enjoy and get great wisdom quickly. Do not focus on anything before the 80's or down. Go one hero at a time you already a fan of and watch their rebirths one at a time. Youll get there my brother. Comics are not for children only but they bring unity, diversity, and responsibility wisdom if you listen and not just look at fighting scenes. Have fun!

Honestly, I'd read a whole series about that Batman Alternate World. That's genuinely an awesome concept for a setting and mystery.
Dark Crisis was a disappointment and it didnt need to be. They should have hewed to Grant Morrison's Multiversity weirder, dark material much more closely, and done more with the 52 universes and done less with Pariah and more directly with the Great Darkness vs Light. Instead of 52 becoming infinite earths (again) it could have been 52 Universes and all time wiped out and a TRUE BIG RESET. Also Flashpoint Beyond also stole some of Dark Crisis' thunder while DC editorial wasn't brave enough to try something which could have been BIG: have two events cross over with each other. Too late now...
The entire point of the story arc is to bring back infinite earths, because it allows for more story possibilities in the future.
Infinite earths were removed because it was confusing, but now with the internet being so common, convoluted plots can easily just be researched online. Besides all the flagship stories are so interconnected you need backstory anyway.
Regardless of whether it would be better for this specific story, the infinite earths coming back was kind of inevitable as the other earths being so bound to an idea was limiting what they could do, especially as they kept being reset.
It also made the multiverse too small. Everyone knew what every universe was doing, so it was hard to justify random threats or enigmas coming from a never talked about one.
So much Darkness going on, you'd think this was a Kingdom Hearts plot.

@@Xeno-The-Wanderer even Flashpoint was only a soft reboot, they kept a lot from the old universe, including specific events. It was one of the reasons the continuity was so fucked, nobody knew what was or wasn't canon, anymore. The last full reboot DC did was the beginning of the Silver Age.

I'm glad you are doing this, because I stopped reading comics a while ago because of the foolishness. If not for you, I would not have paid attention to this and would have missed out on what could be a decent narrative. I hope they truly reset everything, including the writers and the new weird, pushy standpoints. God knows comics are doomed of they don't. BTW, Nightwing is awesome and your storytelling is on point as always.

The fact that they brought sideways back and gave him such an important role instead of just him being in one-two panels and that’s it says a lot. They screwed him over when they didn’t continue his comic book series but I’m seriously hopeful that they’ll actually start to care for his character after this event which makes me so happy. One of my all time favorites.
That is a great crisis story!😁 And I’m shocked that the Justice League is disassembled. But this is not the first superhero team is disassembled. The Avengers did that but they reassembled instantly become the world needs them. And the Justice League does that too because the world and the multiverse still needs the Justice League.

Tl;dr I'm fed up with dc going with ambitious narratives coming off from a crisis event, imo they need to hard reset. Not a crisis event this time just a shut down, an announcement and then a reopening.
Can Dc stop with these big ambitious storylines right after a crisis?
Like don't get me wrong its nice, but right now for how things are I'd feel doing more isolated and smaller story lines would be of better use then ever before especially if they're planning on soft, hard, whatever rebooting dc comics.
Also the destroyed meta human idea, that has been done to death! The boys and marvel have already have dug that idea deep into the minds of fans, all of this is just adding more to the fire unnecessarily.
Not to mention that the idea breaks apart when approaching dc, as it has been shown time and time again that powers are necessary, sure people like batman are needed to but without power, how are they planning on destroying someone like doomsday In a narrative sense?
Simply put there is no answer, not a direct one anyway.
To me all this is, all that dc is doing is trying to copy what is popular atm, nothing more.
I wish they do something thats creative rather then feeding on already fed ideas and plot lines that have been done by other comics and media and even themselves! It is an ouroboros of recycled ideas that have been done to death.

This is why I'll probably never get into DC comics. Any time I like a character like Blue Beetle or Sideways they'll get cancelled and then the whole universe gets destroyed or rebooted making sure that character has almost no chance of making a comeback.

I don't really follow comics but I sometimes think about getting into them. But all these reboots are a barrier.

I understand what you are saying and there HAS been too many reboots and DC has admitted to the fact. The truth is too many crises too closely done and on top of it the various earths, so a new comic book fan can find it very difficult to jump in now and be current in understanding what is going on. Not everyone knows comic terminology and ferailgart18 if you are advit comic fan then help don't simply correct. I am not saying you meant to but words without a voice is rough to understand. John use this channel and go back to all the rebirths and take your time because you will enjoy and get great wisdom quickly. Do not focus on anything before the 80's or down. Go one hero at a time you already a fan of and watch their rebirths one at a time. Youll get there my brother. Comics are not for children only but they bring unity, diversity, and responsibility wisdom if you listen and not just look at fighting scenes. Have fun!
